Amazing X5 - powerful, efficient, and comfortable!
We absolutely love this X5! It is a very quiet SUV - as quiet as the BMW 7-series - that is both very efficient in short-distance city driving and genuinely fast (0-60 mph in 3.9 secs per Car & Driver) and comfortable on long distance trips. For short-distance city driving, the X5 50e drives almost entirely on its battery which lasts anywhere from 35-40 miles (on 80% battery charge) based on weather. That is a decent range for anyone with short work trips on a daily basis and exceeds the EPA estimate for 100% charge. More importantly, if you install a 220V outlet in your garage (highly recommended), the X5 charges to 80% in ~1 hour 50 minutes and you can program the X5 to charge when the electricity rates are the lowest for you with the BMW app updating you on the charge status at all times. Seriously, this is a very good, no hassle, electric car during the week! For long highway drives, you need to navigate to your destination through the BMW navigation system, which is excellent. When you do this, the BMW knows exactly where it will go uphill and where it will go downhill and combines this knowledge with its traffic information to drive as efficiently as possible. I've routinely averaged 35 mpg on my long-distance trips to Southern California or Tahoe which is excellent for an SUV of this size! Best of all, this X5's interior is beautiful, the seats are comfortable, the Harman Kardon sound system sounds amazing, and the Highway Assist (autonomous driving system) works extremely well making long distance drives very relaxing. Finally, for the aggressive drivers, this X5 has a Sport Mode that turns on the powerful BMW I-6 engine, quickens the steering, stiffens up the air suspension, makes the accelerator snappy, and opens up the exhaust so it sounds like a proper sports car - it is all done very nicely :) Before buying this BMW, we spent a lot of time - not even kidding - driving SUVs from competitive luxury brands and in the end, we decided to go with the X5 50e. After having driven it for 10 months, my wife and I absolutely love it! Bottom line, if you have short work commutes but drive long distances over the weekend to explore the outdoors or visit family and friends, you need to put the X5 50e on your consideration list :)

Better than expected
Great overall car. I ordered it fully equipped with most features. All of them are worth it. Highway assist, electric capabilities, seats and air suspension are the top features. Have it for 8 months (8000 miles) and no issues so far. M-sport trim black interior, silver interior still looks gorgeous. Use electricity in about 50-60% miles in San Francisco Bay Area. I can drive about 40 miles on full charge. Wish it was 60 miles sometimes.

Bought it but I don’t know
Bought this car 8/2/2023. The dealer has had it for 18 days during this time. It has 800 miles on it. Had to have the windshield replace because the factory never connected the rear view mirror. Tire pressure light has been coming on since driving it home. Dealer states needs a new tire. ( when did tire manufacturers stop prorating new tires).

Wow...fast, comfortable and economical!
The good... This is one fast SUV. Throttle response is right now quick! Passing, merging, just driving is FUN! Smooth ride, good handling. Used the self driving feature last night...wow. Interior is amazing, got the upgraded (Tartufo) leather and suede headliner. The best car I have ever owned! The bad... It's going to take me a month to figure it all out. I'm not tech ignorant...but this car is a computer on wheels, with an operating system that is confusing. I'm sure I'll get used to it, but if you are looking for a car to just get in and drive, this one is not it. You can, but to access all the benefits takes time. UPDATE: Well, been driving my BMW for over a year now, and my opinion hasn't changed much. Fast, quiet (especially in electric/hybrid mode) and comfortable. I drive it mostly in ECO Hybrid mode (one of 7 modes!) and averaged 52.2 MPG last year. But occasionally, when I'm feeling young (and the road is open and dry) I put it in Sport mode and have fun! It's expensive (especially when you add a dedicated 220V outlet to charge it) but worth it!

Fun, fast, and comfortable!
Excellent build, great finishes, fun to drive in all modes. Most of my driving in in hybrid or pure electric. It is a beast in sport mode. Over 1400 miles, I got an MPG of 41. Yes, the trunk is a bit reduced, but still plenty large for a good size family. Interior space is excellent. Now the things that need improving: there are some software glitches that turn off the driving assistance mode "just because" by warning it is not available, you need to park, turn off the car, wait a minute, restart and all is back. That MUST be fixed fast, please. the autopilot is excellent and works magic when there are slow moving queues and packed highways.
