The $65k transistor radio on new BMW x5
Recently leased a new BMW X5. Beware!! the stereo is beyond sub par. Sound is tinny, lacks clarity, forget turning up the volume. It sounds like an old AM transistor radio. I am amazed that the Company installed an audiophile's nightmare in such an expensive product. Actually thinking of dumping the car over this.
Exceeds expectations!
Luxury, sport, and lots of room. What a classy ride for the family, or just me!

Expected Better from a $70,000 Prestige Vehicle
Vehicle required remote software update with approx 2,000 miles. Update resulted in total vehicle shutdown requiring it be dragged out of garage and hauled approx 80 miles to dealer. Vehicle out of service for 3 days waiting to have system reset. Dealer priority??? Remote for gate only programmed after several months of multiple attempts. Worked for a short time when within 2 ft of gate then quit. Works on garage opener. Spend extended time on phone with BMW to program to no avail. Followed reprogramming instructions in owners manual, how to videos, on line instructions, and homelink instructions. None work. Poor response to tailgate toe activation. Over responsive with lane keep. Backup lights provide extremely poor illumination in the dark. Better keep a flashlight handy. Owners manual is overly complicated and hard to understand. Lacks clarity for operation of complicated technology. Increased disappointment in purchase with every use. Miss my Mercedes.

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly!!
The Good - really solid and stable drive, turbo really enables good acceleration for a vehicle that size, decent interior The Bad - toe kick for the lift gate just does not work. BMW might want to license the technology from a Ford Escape :) The Ugly - Bluetooth just sucks for a $70k priced SUV. It work sometimes, sometimes it take a day off or just calls in sick. Bluetooth has been around for a couple decades and they still can't get it right.

good car BUT...
Before you purchase/lease this vehicle, beware that its tires DO NOT LAST. I've had 2017 model and gentle low mileage city driving was enough for 3 of them to be replaced within 15K miles. At end of lease - 30K miles, I was charged for yet another two. Given the price, it's a huge flaw to vehicle and it alone should tell you it shouldn't be bought...
