I purchased this vehicle from Carmax. This is both a beautiful and economical road trip vehicle with all the amenities I wanted and then some. I took the vehicle to the dealer for recall work and had to change the serpentine belt and rear brakes. So I would strongly recommend to have the vehicle immediately checked out by a BMW dealer to ensure it is fine. Excellent on long rides, especially economical with fuel, but the run flat tires are pretty rough. I can drive from Northern California to Southern California (one way) easily on 1 full tank with plenty of fuel to spare. Also I would recommend a extended warranty.

Can’t believe it is a diesel

Have been very happy with ride/comfort/options. Overall quickness and agility is impressive. Sport mode is quite fun. Only complaint is the ‘door sill’ that sticks out and gets in the way when exiting/entering vehicle.

Great date; long term commitment?

My second X5d and there is so much to like, particularly the performance/handling, the driving position, interior trim that is smart but not cushy and technology to name a few. Getting a hitch installed was a major hassle both times, and in fact I moved the equipment from one to the next on my dime. Regrettably experienced a failed fuel pump on my 2018 that apparently imploded and resulted in a major repair. Fortunately under warranty! Love the vehicle but just don't know if it is to be trusted over the long-haul.

If you like to spend time at the mechanic

Worst decision I’ve ever made was purchasing a used X5 diesel, two months in and my experience has been the worst ever with a vehicle, in two months the vehicle has cost me 4K dollars in attempted repairs and is now sitting at a dealership with major engine and drivetrain malfunctions. Do yourself a favor don’t buy a used BMW!

Go Diesel, it’s by far the best engine in the class and with the right selection of packaging you’ll be very happy with it!!!! Premium seating is a must! $3,100 extra, but it’s worth every penny, I made the mistake of not getting it and totally regret it ever since.
