Best mid size SUV available.
Have owned two Tahoes, an X5, and still have a BMW GT 535 and love it. Took delivery of my X3 two months ago. It was delivered in perfect condition by Athens BMW. We have put 2500 mile on the car and average right at 26 per tank. Thats about 1/3 city driving. This SUV is QUICK and with sport sedan handling. The seats are great and visability outstanding. The 8 speed is flexible and always goes to the right gear for optimum passing and handling. My golf bag fits w/o having to put seats down. Luggage space is plentiful and with easy access. Engine runs fine on mid grade. Plenty of storage space for driver and pass. The covered storage just left of the steering wheel holds a small 9mm perfectly
Never again!
This car has been a nightmare since I’ve purchased it. I’ve replaced the timing chain a $5,000 repair. I have spent thousands more in repairs and the “drivetrain malfunction” light comes on after every repair regardless of satisfying the codes. This car is an absolute lemon of a vehicle. I can’t even trust driving this vehicle anywhere outside of city limits. It only has 100,000 and has been regularly serviced and taken care of and yet always is broke down. I absolutely hate this vehicle and will never own another BMW.

Love this old car, but...
This car has been reliable and a blast to drive. It's now 10 years old and has 130K miles on it. History: Turbo problems in 2015 and it needed to be replaced. It was under extra warranty, and it was covered. In 2018 the right front driving light went out and because you can't change just the bulb, the dealership replaced the housing. I forgot how much it was. In August 2022 the back running light went out-replaced the housing ($586). Jan 2023 brakes, rotors, replaced or fixed. ($1500). May 2023 new water pump replaced and an ongoing oil leak problem still being addressed ($2500). May 2023 - problems with the AC dying. This may be the result of auto mechanic error from replacing the water pump, or the AC itself. I've taken very good care of this car, but it seems that 130K miles, is when this car's major parts are finally needing to be replaced.

BMW X3 Motorsport 3.0Diesel
Owned for 5 years from 10000km to 100000km. Do my own servicing oil changes at 15000 intervals not the recommended 25. Bring all parts in from Micks Garage in Ireland. Brakes, filters etc cheap as chips. This isnt just the best SUV I have owned but probably the best car. I live on a windy bush rd 20km from town in NZ and I drive it hard. While it doesn't handle like a sports car it is very quick and solid, if I had to find fault it would be its hard on the P Zero Pirrelli tyres, but again throwing a heavy vehicle into corners and accelerating hard that is to be expected. only just replaced battery [myself] it was over 6 years old and working fine; I would NOT own a BMW if I could not service it myself, the dealers gouge you over here.
