When your mechanic says run!

Have a local certified mechanic who looked at the car after is stalled in the parking lot of the grocery store. Took it in the next week and he informed me that the engine was on its way to seizing, he said I need to get out of this car ASAP, problems began w engine around 85k miles, which in looking back at reviews seems like I was one of the lucky ones to even make it that far. The maintenance and issues are just too expensive and annoying considering I was sold this car and told about its German engineering and high quality. Beyond disappointed and turned me away from the luxury car industry.

Too many trips to dealership!

It's a nice vehicle, if I didn't have to drive 45 minutes to dealership to get it fixed, on a regular basis. Yes, there is a closer dealership, but they tried to sell me an "executive car" for $3K off sticker. When I asked for car fax they baulked. It had been in a rear end accident! I only found out because I asked for Carfax! Anyway back to X3. It's pretty. And it's nice to drive. Holds road well. Handles great.

Nice small suv with a lot of power. Very solid in bad weather conditions. My new driver in the house was very comfortable and at ease in this vehicle. Lots of great features in this car as well.

83,338—new turbocharger 99,533—rear differential 99,729---new transmission (when they figured out it wasn’t differential) 118,770—oil pump blew—new engine (dealer/BMW split cost but still paid $6300 out of pocket)

I love my X3. After test driving the RX350, Mercedes GLK, FX35 and the Audi Q5 I kept going back to the X3 couldn't remember the features of the others only that of the X3. The back seat is roomy enough for my teenage son. I like the quietness of the ride. I haven't found anything that I don't like about this vehicle yet. Great birthday gift to myself
