Black Sapphire Metallic
The six cylinder is silky smooth and pouts out good power. Coming from a tuned hatchback it initially felt like a big car with a very long hood. Since getting used to it I like just about every aspect of this car. In the US we don't get the sport seats, apparently, so that's a negative. That might be the only negative I can't think of. Even the mileage is surprisingly good.

M240i Brooklyn Gray Xdrive
I didn't really know what to expect from this car. Lots of technology and lots of power. I really liked the test drive and ended up buying it. I could not have m ad ea better decision. The car is a BLAST to drive. Handling is as good as you can get in terms of road feel in a modern car. Acceleration is rocket fast, and with the Xdrive, you just go fast immediately. Road noise is low but not so low as to insulate you from the driving experience. The difference in driving experience between the M230i and the M240i is immense. This car, while not light, feels extremely nimble and agile in corners and on bumpy roads. Combine the fantastic performance with the flawless interior and its a winner. Back seat is tight at best, and Apple CarPlay has issues from time to time, but overall, this is a really, really fun car to drive. An exceptional value.

I sympathize with anyone who didn't get the M240.
I drove the 230 and the M240 xdrive back-to-back. The 230 is a nice, peppy, cheap little car with awesome tech and fantastic mpg. It a short wheelbase car, so the ride is going to be "short." It's a coupe, so the backseat is better than a 911, but barely. At least the seats are rear seats back there. But this car is really about the M240. It's as good as the 440. Rides as well. Is almost as nice inside. Gets stupid mpg for 383hp. And the interior quality smashes all comers. The difference between quality-feel and composure of the two models is enormous. As with any BMW, you get what you pay for. If you really want to bump either model upscale, get the xdrive.
