Audi A4
This vehicle tracks like nothing I have ever driven. The interior is superior to anything that I tested on the market.
GREAT Automobile!!!
Having traded up from a 1993 Saturn, I am in heaven. This is my first Audi and I have had a great experience all around. The salespeople were great, the car is beyond compare, and the value for the money is unbeatable.

fun to drive
Real fun to drive. Handels great
Looks Good, Runs Bad
I bought this car instead of a 325xi, what a mistake. Horrible initial build quality. Driver's seat squeaks constantly, dealer refuses to acknowledge problem. Every time it snows(which is what I bought the car for)the windshield wipers freeze or the motor locks up and the wipers remain stuck right in the line of vision. I am also experiencing crazy electrical problems, I will turn off the esp and my turn signal will activate and my headlights will shut off. Now there is a re-call for the ignition coil. The Bose stereo is nice, just don't try to listen to it with the sunroof open. I Want My 1999 2.8 Q Back ! What was audi thinking.
Over enginered
This is a very comfortable, stable and fun car. I am a small woman and the car fits me perfectly. It has all the bells and whistles and a great highway ride. There is some lack of power initially at low speeds but the engine quickly responds. My major complaint is that the computer system is overly sensitive there have been many instances of warning lights coming on. I say that the car is "over enginered". I have had the car into the dealer on many more occasions than I think is reasonable for warning lights. Sometimes there was something actually wrong but many times the computer just needed to be reset.
Rick's Review
This is my second A4. In two years I'll most likely be on my third...
Stick shift 3.0 smokin' ride
I really love this car. The 6 speed makes it a blast to drive and the performance is really good. All wheel drive makes winters fun too. Built nice and strong. Love this car and it loves me.
One solid cozy ride!!!
Aluminum trim awesome!!!
Transmission Killer
I love the way this car looks, feels and drives, however... We just put in our third new replacement transmission!! The car has been in the shop for 4 months out of the last two years. The mechanic had to order the tranny from Germany as they are on back order in the US. The transmissions are about $7000 a piece. Thank God for extended warranties!! Buyer beware.
my first Audi
This is my first Audi. I really wanted the 3.0, but couldn't find the one w/ the options/color I wanted (Bose, 6sp and something other than white or black). And since I had the "new car bug", I decided to get the amulet red 1.8T. No regrets though I was coming from a VW Passat V6 - the 1.8T on the A4 has enough pick up as far as I am concerned. Only 600 miles so far, but no problems at all (knock on wood).
...You just might like it !!!!!!
I have to say of all of the different entry level luxury cars... The A4's in/outside design surpasses many cars twice it's price ! Please, BMW is seen way too often... and more often you are paying through the teeth to own one... only later to find out what type of value you had passed by !!! Trust me, three friends ( BMW drivers ) have clued me in. If it is only for an around the block drive... This car is going to surprise you again and again !
AUDI - Accelerates under demonic influen
This car is not for anyone that likes acceleration of the start. The build quality is fine and the interior build quality is fine, but if you like performance this car is not for you
Marriage Material
My wonderful Uncle has always told me to marry a Woman who's well rounded. After close to one year of brain numbing research for the most well rounded car on the market, the A4 came up as the bearer of that title. From its sexy yet classy exterior lines to its elegant and ergonomic interior to its refined performance to its long list of standard/optional features to its industry leading safety to its value pricing-you can't go wrong when picking this car as your all around everyday car.
What a great design
The driver's experience is clearly what the engineers had in mind when designing this car. The engine delivery and transmission shifts are silky smooth. The turbo layout turns a usually puny 1.8 litre 4 banger into a fun and almost organic feeling torquey little animal! Audi has designed the drivetrain well. The interior and exterior both have the same concept in mind. Clean and sexy lookin. Some of my friends chuckle at me getting the wagon but I love it. It's just way to versitile to pass up. I play hockey and have a Big German Shepherd. I need the space. The other day I had three big dogs in the back and they all had room to lie down and relax on our trip.
Very solid, nice, fast and good looking
Everything is very close to perfect except of climate control. Probably bad placed temp sensors inside car. Everything else is just great. I love not-cheap-plastic stylish interior. Handling is one of the best. Sport package is awesome. Great value for money.
Beware
After one year the car is back to the shop about once a month. Once it was in the shop for a minor fender bender and the shop still can't get it fixed after 4 trips and trust me it was a minor accident. I have been taking it to a dealer in Charleston, WV. The support and repair for the car sucks. The dealer even offered to trade the car and then offered me $14,000 less for the car than I payed for it after only one year. Don't contact Audi with complaints they don't have any power or desire to deal with their dealerships. On my way home from having a light bulb changed the whole taillight fell out and all Audi could say is they would document it.
Well done, Audi
It's been fun to drive an A4.
A fun yet practical drive
This car has been an excellent purchase for me. I was looking at Jettas and others of that ilk, but his car is obviously head and shoulders over those. After driving the BMW 325xi for some time, I have to say I like the A4 more! The manageability and infrequency of repairs and even scheduled maintenance make this car a no-brainer decision if you're looking at this price level or even moderately below (because the total cost to own is small).
Audi A4 1.8T (Manual)
I bought this car three weeks ago. It's everything I expected: Refined design, subtle but present performance, and excellent handling. Only a week ago, a duck and her ducklings suddently apperared out of nowhere as I was doing 50 mph. I slammed on the brakes and found out what a well-designed, great braking saystem does for you. If I would have done the same on my previous Jeep I would have been all over the road. This baby slowed down fastly but very steady and on a straight line. Perfect.
My review
Great car. Not a problem yet -- only fun.
My boss thinks he'd paying me too much..
I gave my boss and some other coworkers a lift the other day, and my boss was impressed. "this is a great car. I'm amazed at the interior." It is a great car. I looked at BMWs, Volvos, Saabs, etc., for style, safety, and performance. The A4 has it all. It's a toy and it's a statement. For safety, I don't think it can be beat. On my way home tonight, a Jeep Cherokee ran a red light. It was rainy, the roads were slick, I was at speed and yet the Audi prevaled. I braked and swerved; my A4 steered right around that Jeep like I was dancing with butterflies. I am fast becoming one of Audi's best salespersons.
Great Car
We just returned from an 800 mile roundtrip on 29.2 gallons of gas. That's over 28 MPG! The car rides like a bigger car, but handles like a sports car. The 1.8T has plenty of guts, and you know this engine is designed for the Autobahn, as she really purrs at 65, and would love to be unrestrained by the low speed limits on our (US) roads. Seats are very comfortable, and adjustable and our "black beauty" looks really rich.
Not Bad, Could be Better
I have a fairly loaded 2002 A4 3.0 quattro with 5-speed Tiptronic: sport, luxury, Cold weather, xenons. All-in-all this has been a satisfactory car. Fit and finish was excellent. I have had a few niggling issues: horns had to be replaced at 20,000 mi (horns, whatever?!), power steering fluid mysteriously disappears (once, only). The Tiptronic could be a little smoother on the upshift, especially in low gears. Acceleration is a little weak, even for an automatic.
Best Looking AWD
This is the best AWD Wagon that I have seen. This is my second A4 and things just keep getting better. Why pay extra for the standard or should I say luxury of a center armrest (BMW you must be joking). The Car looks like a complete dream, all round an excellent purchase thought not quite as much interior load as I though I was going to get. The Sedan boot is huge.
The 2002 Audi A4 1.8T quattro - A winner
Have had a wonderful time with this car. Looks like a beauty (inside, out), is immensly fun to drive and is pretty well priced for its class - its tough to find a well engineered all-wheel-drive sporty sedan with great interiors for around $30,000 Have had the car for over a year now - with absolutely no mechanical problems so far. The only time I needed to take it to the dealer was for its 10,000 mile check-up - which incidentally was completely free and covered under the standard maintenance plan
As close as perfection gets...
Before I bought this car, the hype was everywhere in magazines and other published car editorials. I took my 2000 Audi A4 for a service one day, and decided to walk around the showroom to see what the new A4, a Car and Driver 10Best car, is all about. Needless to say, I had the service department stop any work they were doing on my 2000 A4 as I decided to just purchase the 02 A4. I know there are other cars that are faster linearly, but the A4's V6 CVT was smooth. You have to get used to the gearless transmission, but this thing taps 60 mph in 6.8 seconds. You couldn't do better in a manual. On top of that, interior is top notch.
Drives nice but unrekiable
I've had my 2002 A4 Quattro for one year. On the plus side, the car is fun to drive, comfortable and looks great. However the negatives quickly overwhelm any positive aspects of this car. In the first year the car was immobilized for 29 days at the dealer waiting for a new ignition coil. In addition I've had 2 radios replaced and many minor electrical problems. I've lost all confidence in reliability of the car and prefer our 5 year old, 88,000 mile Subaru Outback for longer trips.I hate to think what problems I'll have after the warranty expires. I doubt if I will ever buy another Audi.
Never Follow
Have owned many "luxury" cars in the past and although the A4 is more an "Entery luxury or near luxury" model it clearly outperforms much more expensive cars even those not really in its class. An absolute dream to drive and a wonderful experience overall. Can not praise this car more!
Stunning
The current A4, in my opinion, is one of the most beautiful cars on the road. It's a head turner, it is one of a few cars that really stands out from the rest. It is also a blast to drive, the V6 engine performs well and sounds great when driving it hard. The Quattro AWD system gives this car a tremendous amount of road holding grip, which is great for bad weather or having a bit if fun.
I love this car!
This car is awesome and pleasing to look at. Hope it is as trouble free as I hear!
Great Car
The car has been spectacular thus far. The fit and finish is excellant and the cars preformance and handling is close to perfection.
One classy ride
Door shuts like no other, if u're used to closing Japanese car doors, u'd have to close this car's door a couple of times. 4 Heated Seats, individually variable. Steering is precise and on-track.
A bit disappointed with 2002 A4
it has been in the shop twice for check engine light issues. It will be going in for a third time for cruise control problems. The car interior makes "wear and tear" noises that should not be evident in a brand new car. I have an '89 Benz that has less squeaks. I'm guessing the sport suspension induced the squeaks, coupled with driving the car in San Francisco's terrible city streets. For a car that weighs as much as a Toyota 4Runner, I find the V6 lacking.
Audi A4 is an awesome car
Great car for the price. I got such a great deal a month or two after its release. The only negative is the fuel economy. But I guess its expected from a turbo engine. The space in the back is pretty cramped according to my passengers but....its a luxury/sports car. its expected.
love it and hate it
love the car past 2nd gear and on twistys-hate the car at stop lights when tauruses and accords aren't working nearly as hard to go just as fast or faster - audi shouldn't have allowed 1.8T to be purchased with sport package/wheels - this car looks fast but is not - remember guys, form follow function! plus my suspension started squeeking like an old stagecoach after 6 months - they still haven't fixed it!! great looking and comfy overall - would buy another but either v6 or s4 - never again 1.8T!!
Initial Assessment
I've owned the car for less than a month, but right away some things are apparent. Biggest issue is lack of low- end power - get a manual and this thing will DIE starting on an uphill incline unless you're a master with the clutch. You can't go above 5mph in first gear; ridiculous. Silver lining though - increased fuel efficiency, and once you have momentum the turbo can really kick in. Also, Audis start to fall apart after 30,000 miles... particularly with all the extra gadgetry that it comes equipped with. No surprises here - just buy the extended warranty.
Great Car
The new A4 is better than ever. My brother had the previous generation and this new generation is better than ever. The build is great, i love the looks. All around great drivers car.
Awesome Audi
Awesome car
My favorite car so far!
I've own this car for a month and a half now. I love it! It could have used some more HP's though.
EVERYONE says "Wow - Nice Car!"
The exterior styling alone is reason enough to buy an A4. I stepped up to the 16" 5-spoke wheels. Looks great! The sport suspension is simply too severe for Ohio roads. Once you get past 1st gear life is wonderful. I still haven't figured out if starting off slow or spilling my coffee is best. This is the most fun-to-drive vehicle I have owned. BMW was too much $$$ and there are too many of them on the road.
So far so good
My expectation was average for this car as I had the past generation one. After 3000 miles, notice this car is a great improvement over last. This car is very well built. Transmission is a little notchy but will loosen up over time. Very sure footed on snow and on asphalt.
What A Superb Car!
I wanted a car that was safe, sporty, 'luxurious', well-engineered, fast and reliable-- but not an SUV. I ck'd out & test drove Volvos, BMWs, Mercedes', VW Passats & the A-4s. Audi's commitment to building safer, superb cars was impressive, as were the test drives. The 3.0 Quattro. Whoa! Just too hot. The 1.8 w/Quattro w/manual was absolute perfection. Power, safety, superb engineering, craftsmanship & attention to detail. (Detroit, are you listening?!!) I bought it.
Our awesome Audi A4 !
Drives like a dream! So smooth and quite! If you are considering a new car in this class , you owe it to yourself to test drive the A4. We find ourselves going places just as an excuse to experience the fun of driving it. We love it!!!
2002 A4 1.8t quattro manual
best car I've owned
Great Car
The car has been spectacular thus far. The fit and finish is excellant and the cars preformance and handling is close to perfection.
Avant
This is my second A4 (1.8T prior) performance is excellent with the 3.0. Instead of 30 mpg, I now only get around 25mpg. Car looks good, drives good. Exceeds my expectations.
Best in Class
I drove all other vehicles in this class and the Audi was the best overall. The exterior design of the BMW is very sporty, and has a slight edge over the Audi w/o the sport package, but I think with the 17" rims, lowered body, stiffer suspension of the sport model beats out the BMW. The cornering is best in its class with the AWD. The sound system is also best in class. The interior is ergonomically perfect. To top it all off is the 48 month warranty on ALL maintanence. Best buy in my opinion.
Wedding has been consumated.
I looked at lots of makes before buying this car. This included the Infinity I35 and the Volvo S60. I left early one Saturday morning with the intent to buy an Infinity. But before I committed,..I want to test drive that sporty A4 that I had looked at a few weeks earlier. That evening I drove home an A4. One test drive and the marriage was consumated. I love this car and everything about it. Three months later and I'm still having fun driving. I'll say it again. I love this car. But beware at 6'2" there is not much leg room in the back-seat when I'm driving. And the center console is a little intrusive for a long legged driver. But I do love my car.
Great Car
If you are looking at comparable cars such as the BMW 3 the Audi A4 gives you more for your dollar and performs just as well if not better .
A4 3L AWD 2002 Seattle
Build quality is excellent, car is quiet, powerful, and smooth. No rattles. Front driver seat is almost too small for people 6 feet and over. Have never been able to get the linked keyfob remotes to activate the correct mirror and seating program. Throttle control takes some gettng used to as it is not linear.
