Great purchase choice
An excellent alternative to the GS300. Car is not as smooth as the GS300, but sportier. BMW 3 & 5 series are much smaller and clostrophobic when compared. The TL gets it done cheeper than both and is head and shoulders above the G35 & Maxmia. Try internet sales. Walking in the dealership, full MSRP and told no discounts. 30 minutes online and got one for $33,750 OUT THE DOOR! Talk to Hiedi at Pasadena Acura to view, but buy it from Nelson (internet sales guy). She knows the car better than most and Nelson knows the numbers!
Best of the Breed
The 2004 TL is hands down the best car of the bunch, I tested two other cars when deciding on this purchase, the BMW 330 and Infiniti G35. Beamer- nice car but way overpriced, you have to add options to get it to the same level as the TL, lacked many features, bad placement for a cupholder!, plus I had heard rumors of reliability issues with the new 3 series. G35- great performance but ugly, cheap interior, Extremely ugly front end
Acura '04 TL 5AT
The car handles very well; it has good road feel and corners turns "sports car like". It is very attractive inside and out. The interior has some luxury refinements that cars costing much more have only had in the past. At 33k it is a terrific value. The reliabilty of Acuras are among the best in the world. The BMW 5 series was the bench mark apparently and it doesn't fall very short on the handling capabilities and luxury these German cars afford. This car is priced $10+k less and is expected to not spend much time getting service like it's German counterpart.
TL automatic
Best car ever in all respects except the ride and seats. The ride is a bit harsh and the front seats are not comfortable on a trip. Not enought padding on the bottom and the side bolsters are too close even for my weight and size (175 lbs/6 feet)
TL for TLisious
This car is one of the most techno advanced cars on the market. Even after 2 months I am amazed every time I get in the car. Acura did it right with the interior and exterior design. The performance and handling is incredible. Driving this car in the snow is a breeze with traction control, electronic vehicle stability, throttle by wire, and antilock brakes. The engine begs you to drive it FAST. Interior and exterior quality is second to no others I have not found one workmanship flaw yet-inside or out. Nothing feels cheap or flimsy.
Second TL
I just purchased my 2004 TL this afternoon. It's my second, my first being a 2000 which we kept. The TL still rates as a great value even if they have raised the price a bit. The fuel economy is excellent considering the engine makes 270 hp but the premium fuel requirement is unfortunate given the current prices. This version is much improved over the last generation. I think Acura has really put some distance between the TL and the Lexus ES 330. But they still won't let me take control of the first to second shift with the automatic transmission. That detracts from the fun a bit.
Super Car
I love it fun to drive and unbelievable interior. The interior is nicer than some of the $60000 cars in the upper levels.
PLEASANTLY SURPRISED
My wife and I have owned two Porsches and two BMW's--marvelous cars. We were, therefore, surprised by the Acura TL we drove while one of our cars was being serviced. A week later we bought a TL.
I LOVE MY NEW CAR
THIS CAR IS AWESOME. I LOVE DRIVING MY NEW ACURA TL EVERYDAY. EVERYONE LOVES MY NEW CAR. THE TL HAS SUCH A SMOOTH RIDE. IT IS ALSO A BEAUTIFUL CAR TO LOOK AT! IN A SCALE FROM 1 TO 10. IT'S A 12! I RECOMMEND EVERYONE TO TEST DRIVE THIS CAR. ONCE THEY DO THEY'LL BE NEGOTIATING A PRICE WITH THEIR SALESPERSON.
VERY GOOD CAR
BEST CAR FOR YOUR MONEY
TL vs. 540i
I traded in a BMW 540i, because of the reviews and value. In every respect, except performance, the TL has been well worth the move. It rides more comfortably, is easier to drive, but still maintains the solid character of the German cars. If outright performance (read: boy racer) is less important (I have accepted I am no longer 23), then there is very little you give up in owning the TL (except an additional $20K).
A Fine Purchase
I am extremely pleased with my 2004 Acura TL which is redondo red with a parchment interior. Performance is excellent and the car is more comfortable than I expected. And, everything works!
Best value on the market
Owned a Lexus, Infiniti, Jag, Mercedes in the past few years. This is by far the best overall car of the above. I had heard so much about the new Chrysler 300 and thought sure I would buy one the day they came out. Not only is the Chrysler 3.5 more expensive, it is junk compared to my 3.2 TL
finally, a well designed japanese car
Ever since this car was a concept, I have recognized Alfa Romeo (156 & 166) styling. TL, along with TSX finally brought a sharp exterior design to a japanese car maker. car behaves excellently on the road, handles corners with authority and makes you feel truly content with your investment. Considering latest design flops that are Honda Accord and Toyota Camry, TL will capitalize and seize more of the market, establishing itself as a favourable contender in luxury and sporty sedan market segment, rather than in usual medium-size-sedan-workhorse group. Obviously, this car passed rigorous quality assurance process. I suggest adding "invisible" nose bra to protect your car's hood from stone chips
2004 Acura TL
So far, 835 miles of pure bliss. As a long time Honda fan (3 Civics, 1 Accord, 2 Odyssey's, 1 Legend Coupe), I say this new TL is their premier product. Ride is great compromise between luxury and sports car. Quiet and smooth with great road feel. Fabulously fused accellerator and transmission. Way better than the ES330 and the I35. Awsome sound system. Big back seat... plenty of headroom.
One of the worst
Prob the worst rattling cars I have ever owned. Very poor interior quality. The car is basically held together with double sided tape. Even the dealer admits to all of the build issues. Very dissappointed in a 35$k car. Needless to say my car is for sale with 4000 miles on it. If you are looking to buy a new TL, wait till 05 if at all.
WOW MOM WOW!!!
I searched for 1 yr before purchasing this car. Started with the germans, looked into the japanese, perused the Sweeds. I got down to 4 finalists. Saab 93 Aero, Acura TL, BMW 330i, and Infiniti G35. I hate the G35 seats horrible bolsters, and what's up with the switches on the inside, the tranny was too gruff. The 330 was great as expected but 3k more + everybody has one here in LA. The worst thing about the 330 was the sensor under the rearview obtrusive and ugly. Saab or Acura... 6sp, good engines and euro feeling... When you consider the Saab is 2k more than Acura before any options it seemed like a no Brainer... It was the Acura TL 6sp for me. Best Bang for the Buck...
such a car
I relied so much on comsumer reviews when searching for my new car...the Acura TL has been fabulous..quiet..great interior..cant say enough good things about it...Drive one!
Great car
I have german cars-Two (BMW 330 and Audi TT). Alot of german car lovers have an emtional attachment to their cars but if you take the emotion out of it you will soon realize that you are driving one the best cars for the money and that includes performance, style, luxury and driving excitment.
Worth every penny!!
Although I bought the car for myself, my husband LOVES this car. It is truly a luxury sports car. I believe that it would be difficult to find a car with as many options as the '04 TL for the price.
First Time Acura Owner - Best Car Ever
After owner several other vehicles and test driving Audi, BMW, Lexus, Infiniti, I fell in love with many of the practical features that the TL has to offer. The car is perfect for short and long-haul commutes. Gas mileage could be a little better, I get 21-22 MPG city and 30-31 on the hwy @ 78 MPH. The handling is excellent. The beverage holders could be a little deeper with an optional spacer if you wanted it. A can of soda will fit, but you cannot use the over in the center column. The trunk space is plenty for a long trip with luggage and the rear seats have enough leg room for any discerning passenger.
Getting the most for your money
The only problem that I'ev had with the car is several visits back to the Acura service department because the front seat clip that connects the seats plastic base to the leather seat. The Service dept. claims to have replaced it (seat clip) on every occasion, but breaks shortly after that. PS Good luck in finding an affordable cellphone with the blue tooth feature under $150.
what a buy
TRADED IN A 2001BMW 525.THE TL IS MORE RELIABLE BETTER EQUIPED AND A MUCH BETTER VALUE.I NEVER HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE 525 EXCEPT THE USUAL BULB FAILURE.FIT AND FINISH OF THE TL IS SECOND TO NONE.I CANT UNDERSTAND WHY IT IS NOT SELLING SO WELL.EVERY DEALER I HAD GONE TO HAD LARGE INVENTORY.IS IT THE COLD WEATHER IN N.Y.?
top dog
fun to drive and look at, should really look at this car if comparing G35, 3series, ES330, or A4
A few problems
I have had my TL for three weeks now. It is a very nice car in most respects. Handles very well, fast, good mileage. A tad noisy. It has been in the shop for a week because one of the speakers was not attached and parts keep showing up defective. Someone else has already noted the problem with the gas gauge. It tells you it is empty when it has 3 gallons left. This defect is called a 'feature' by Honda since it was designed to be that way, according to my dealer, at least. Honda doesn't want you running out of gas, and supposedly calibrated the computer telling you how many miles till empty to get to zero too quickly, along with the gas gauge. Pathetic.
This Car is Awesome
Before purchasing my new Acura TL i drove the audi A4 and the Infiniti G35. Both the Audi and Infinity were great cars, but if you want the most for your money the TL is the way to go. The TL performs as well if not better than both the Audi and the Infiniti, and there are few things that you can upgrade because everything comes stock on the TL. If you purchase a new TL, I promise you won't regret it!
Great Car!
This is a really fun car. Very quiet, but really great acceleration. Beats a BMW 5 Series for value by a long shot.
Happy Owner
Great Value. Excellent performance, decent MPG. Great looking and style. Fun to drive.
Lovin' this ride!
I deliberately made the TL the last of the 6 cars I tested out (G35, ES330, Passat, Accord, Camry), and I was sold after a half mile. I'm a big guy, and I was worried about room - no problem. I found the seats very comfortable (haven't checked out the rear seats, but unless the people back there are helping with the payments, I'm not concerned!) Love the stereo, and never thought I'd care for XM...it's great for those with diverse musical tastes. So far, a great ride!
Rattles but rolls
Disappointed with the build quality of this car. Expect more from Acura/Honda product. Many interior rattles, headliner fell and body panels misaligned. Engine and ride are excellent. Would wait a year for Acura to get the bugs out. I thought I wouldn't have to worry about that with a Honda product, but I guess I was wrong.
love this car...!!
I traded in a 99 BMW 528I for the TL and have to say I am confident I made the right decision. I previously owned 2 BMW's and thought I would be a bimmer lover for ever. After researching, comparing to the BMW 530I, and test driving, the TL for me was the far better choice. I find myself acting like some little kid with their favorite toy. I make excuses to go somewhere just to drive it!!
just bought it
Spent the summer assessing the Audi A4, Lexus ES300, Infiniti G35 and Volvo S60. Decided to wait for the Acura TL, to be sure I would end up with a car that excited me(sportiness), and gave me a luxury feel. After driving the Acura, the decision was made. Cars I looked are all great vehicles; A4 is easily the most fun to drive, the Lexus is the most luxurious and possibly best built, G35 covered ground in both my critical criteria, but had a few too many quirky things, S60 fell short both on the sport and the luxury sides. Time will tell whether this was the correct decision.
Awesome Fun
Before buying this car, I test drove the BMW 330, Infiniti G35, Mazda RX8, Lexus IS300. I heard about it last minute from friends and the Internet. After driving the car, I knew this was the car for me. The base equipment is hard to beat for the price and the performance is outstanding
Just Sweet!
Great car, was looking at accord, found 6 sp, but only avail in coupe, then, went to Acura and test from 6 sp TL sedan, and never looked back.... Dream Ride!
One Awesome Vehicle!
You need only drive this car to love it, the 270hp V-6 is very responsive and the handling is excellent. I am a previous owner of Nissan Maxima's (91, 96 and 01) and this car blew them away as well as blowing away the 04 Maxima! I'm getting around 23mpg in the city going back and forth to work, this along with the comfort and luxury of the vehicle make it the perfect choice.
sweetest yet
This car has been the most fun of any I've ever owned. Navigation solid TEN. Power a solid TEN. Stereo system a TEN. Exhaust sound a solid TEN. A head turner solid TEN. Still getting compliments and looks 6 months after purchased.
Excellent ride, excellent value
Acura continues to make fun, performance-based cars at great value. All of the amazing features are standard (the only options are the navi system and summer tires) including DVD- Audio, surround sound, XM Radio, Bluetooth, etc. No detail is overlooked making the car a true joy. The ride is phenomenal--it is a smooth, fast car. All in all, dollar for dollar a truly amazing vehicle. I highly recommend it.
Acura TL review
A very enjoyable ownership experience. Handles well (besides the torque steer). Very fast. Killer stereo.
almost perfect
this car is almost perfect . AWD and getting the max torque at 3000 instead of 5000 would make it perfect.
Luxurious, Refined and Sporty
This car as thought of everything. World class one-of-a-kind stereo, 270HP,and silky smoothe. One of the fastest Front wheel Drives out there. Be fast... but be classy too.
BYE BYE BMW
its unsual to run into a car that has so many things right. Design, power, quality of materials and workmanship, cutting edge toys etc. etc. etc... and all standard and for less than a equally equiped Saab.Plus it's so much fun to drive. BMW--forget Lexus-- must be feeling a little uncomfortable right now--or they will soon.
Fun to drive again
Drive a lot for work. It's actually fun driving again, even sitting in traffic.
acura tl
good, fun car. good deal for the money.
2004 Acura TL
Incredible car. The interior is well designed and easy to use. Power is always there. The handling is not to tight but it is not a race car so it is perfect.
First Front wheel drive
Have had Pors. BMWs, Merc. and last was 1993 Q 45. Mild torque steer under hard acceleration and slightly heavier feel in the steering than the other, but considering this car is many thousands less than the newer versions of what I had been driving, it is an unbelievable value.
great car but...
terrible tires and was delivered with a loose headliner - other wise a realy fun car to drive - had a 2000 TL and this one handles so much better
WORTH EVERY PENNY
IF YOU CROSS AN AUDI A6 WITH AN ES 300- -THIS IS WHAT YOU WOULD GET. FACTOR IN THE VALUE OF THIS CAR, RELIABILITY AND THE PERFORMANCE/DESIGN---THIS CAR IS TOO GOD TO BE TRUE
Best car ever
Absolutely the best car Acura(or anyone else) has built. Smooth, responsive engine, Great sound system, Ample room for Driver and passengers, including back seat. Wow! What a ride! Handling and feel second to none. Drive one and you'll be hooked.
Not just good value, classy too
Owned for 1 mth. Paid $1,400 under MSRP in CA. Extraordinary value. Tested CTS, ES330, Maxima, G35, A4. This car beat them all. Interior/chassis/engine/transmission are all excellent. Sound system to die for. Heated seats are wonderful. Drives likes a dream. Gas mileage not great (19 mpg commuting to LA). Overall though, look forward to driving my TL.
Nice Ride...
Was looking at 2005 c230 and after driving it, there was no comparison. The TL is an incredible value. Great performance and gorgeous interior.
