Affordable Luxury Advance trim
When shopping I drove the Cadillac XT5, the Volvo XC60, LEXUS NX30, But I was drawn to the RDX body(sporty yet stylish) and the console, it is a wicked cool, different console. I am horrible w technology and was very nervous purchasing a car w so much Technology. It took me 40 days to get use to all of it. I first regretted not getting a touch screen, but let me tell you, if I can use this system anyone can. It is actually easy to use and I dont even need to look at it to change stations, make phone calls etc. I easily navigate w out taking my eyes off the road. I thought about it then, if I had touch the screen, then I would have to keep my eyes glued to screen and that would be dangerous. NO finger prints on my screen either. I love the quick response of the vehicle. It is so quiet inside which was important to me. It has 16 speakers w an incredible sound system. I love the heads up display. That is an awesome feature, which I have come to really love. The interior is so spacious. I feel the interior has a luxurious feel. I absolutely love all the censors around the car to avoid obstacles. The SUV has great visual. C&D said you cant see out of the back, that is BS. When test driving all, I was looking to see if their were blind spots. Acura, puts even an extra small window in the back to make sure of good visual. I love the roomy big console w lots of storage. I agree that big knob for changing driving modes a bit big, but it makes the car different. Rear seats fold down easy and the storage is awesome. I keep the compartment open in back and my groceries go in there so not to fall all over the car. Cons: I can't believe I got the top model and the side mirrors don't close electronically. That upsets me. I only needed that while in garage. The Honda Passport has wireless charging for phone, so why not the RDX. No spare tire. Some glitches like the automatic door locks sometimes dont lock w out pulling out key fob. I had issue w Android play, but it needed the app to be updated. The voice recognition doesn't always work smoothly. It works great 5 times and on the 6th it pauses. We almost got the tech package and last minute got the Advance and for us it was well worth the extra money. Having censors all around the car, the 360 back up camera, the Heads up display rocks keeping my eyes in front on road. The heads up display is one of the best inventions. Gas starting to get 22 city and I got 25 hwy. If my gas stays around there, I will be happy. I am still under 1,000 miles on my vehicle so time should improve the MPG. I have car 6 weeks and I absolutely love driving my car. I enjoy both the heated and cooling seats very much. Even my husband who loved being a professional passenger, now insists he will drive. He loves the car a lot. Summary: A great roomy SUV with plenty of storage and I think the best info system around. ( I think the "critics aka experts" don't realize how easy to toggle around on the system makes it for the users. Very quick pick up yet quiet road noise. I have it almost a year now and every time in the SUV I say how much I love driving it.
#5
This is my fifth Acura and 3rd RDX. I had a 2015, 2017, and just took delivery of the 2020 with the Advance Trim. Over my driving lifetime I have owned 2 fords, 3 dodges, 2 Mercedes, 5 Hondas, 2 Chryslers, 1 Oldsmobile, 1 GMC, and 3 Nissans. I routinely research cars in multiple fashions. I subscribe to magazines, read articles on Google, read numerous reviews on KBB and Edmunds, watch reviews on YouTube, and go to car shows. I often give educations to salesmen at the dealerships. So why did I buy another RDX given the fact that the reviews have not been very friendly, particularly with regard to the infotainment system. I was very happy with the old touch screen and nervous with the new touch pad and decided to learn as much as I could about it before actually signing on the dotted line and I still find myself learning new features and procedures on it every day. The fact is that its different and as such there is a reasonable learning curve and you have to put forth the effort. You cannot simply turn on the engine and expect it to just work, just like any new technology. Before I took delivery I was told that the freezing and other issues were caused because people tried to use Waze on CarPlay and apparently Waze and the Acura system do not like each other. If that is of major importance to you, don’t buy the car or just use Waze while not connected to the car or use a different phone that is not connected. When I need Waze, I use my wife’s phone in coordination and addition to the Acura system. The audio is separate and works great and so is the actual phone. What other apps can you use while driving? Once you get passed that and start using it, the touch pad is actually quite intuitive and easy, and yes once set up, operating it is safe and simple. Just make sure you add your favorites (phone#’s, addresses, radio stations... while not driving. The car has much more road feel than the prior generation and the SHAWD delivers a firm ride. The engine is smooth and very peppy. Definitely more fun than the prior generation. Gas mileage is not great but what car in this segment is? The seats are extremely comfortable, the interior is roomy and provides a feeling of luxury and power as you enter the car. Definitely a nice place to be. I will not say that it is better or nicer than the other European competitors or the Lexus, Infinity, Cadillacs... Just about every car made today will be reliable and will perform as it is meant to. At this point the truth is that it is all a matter of personal taste. The Volvo XC60 is a beautiful comfortable car but it is not very sporty. The Lincoln Corsair is gorgeous inside and the Lexus RX is unbelievable inside but neither has any road feel. They are just sanctuaries. I personally do not like the run flat tires that come on the German cars but that is my personal preference. I simply like the way the Acura feels by comparison to the other models in the segment + the Acura is by far a better value. Loaded up the car is several thousand dollars less than any of the above and holds its value better too. The BMW with its pricing and options made me feel like I was being nickeled and dimed. (Especially with the insurance policy for the tires) and I hate that. The reason that the Acura is so much less expensive is that it is much less customizable. It was not an issue for me but maybe it is for you. I don’t much like the auto off feature but all the cars are coming with it. Truth be told, it will likely be a pain in the neck if you are in heavy traffic but being stopped at a light, I’ll get used to it. For the times of being in traffic—push the button. In summation, I highly recommend this car.

Great luxury SUV
I really enjoy driving this SUV. The seats are very comfortable and are nicer than a lot of other luxury SUV's that I test drove. It's got good storage and cargo capacity. The panoramic moonroof is also a really nice feature. It offers a great distraction for kids when they start getting antsy. "Hey how many clouds do you see?" "Can you see any planes? None?, keep looking lol. Now the moonroof shade cover did get stuck in the open position once two summers ago on a really hot day, but a couple days later it worked again and I haven't had an issue since. The SHAWD is amazing. You really feel it kick in when powering around curves and this makes it a blast to drive. The infotainment system isn't as fancy as some of those wrap around dash displays found in Mercedes, but it is very easy to use and that makes it safe to use while driving. The different drive modes are great as well. I usually drive in sport but when the family is in the car I tend to put it on comfort and my wife appreciates it. The snow mode I tested for the first time this winter and it really improved the control I had on snowy roads. My only complaints are that there is no drive mode that offers better fuel economy. I also find it slightly annoying that if you want to disable to the auto idling, you have to turn it off each time you start the car up. But in the end, these are minor complaints compared to all of the great features this car has to offer. UPDATE: I had the car for 4.5 years before recently trading it in for a new 2024 RDX. I had no issues with the vehicle, but I wanted a refresh. The 2024 I got also had a quieter cabin due to more noise cancelling foam in the frame, better brake engagement, and improved acceleration (plus some extra features based on the trim). I'm still happy that I went with the RDX both times over the Q5 or X3. You really can't go wrong with any of the other vehicles, but I still feel the RDX is the better bang for your buck and is a more comfortable ride than it's German rivals.

Luxury and sport combined 2020 RDX
SUV is more luxurious than previous generation SUV. This is my 3rd RDX. I previously owned the 2017 advance model and I chose to purchase the 2020 advance which I was able to purchase at a very good price. It takes a day or 2 to get used to the information system. Acura has the owners site where there are videos which explain how to operate everything. The android auto which is new for 2020 works fine, I was even able to connect google maps and the directions came through the navigation system. The navigation system in the 2020 works better than the 2017. The voice navigation works great when you are on the freeway and need to detour. The deciding factor in the purchase of the RDX was the ride in sport mode. Within 1 day of purchasing the RDX we had a snow storm of 7 inches followed by a ice storm. The RDX handled the snow and ice with ease. I chose the RDX over the Volvo XC 60 because in order to get all the features on the Volvo would have cost me around 8 to $10,000 more. UPDATE: I have owned the 2020 Rdx advanced 2.5 years. My dealership covers my oil change and tire rotations. I have not spent any money on maintenance. Car is operating great. I am a senior citizen and the infotainment system is easy to operate. Acura sent out a update to info system which had to be done at dealership. Very satisfied with the amount of space in the car. Have taken it on several road trips and It is very comfortable ride.

Brand new car and it’s not a”lemon” issue.
So there is a class action lawsuit against Acura for the 2020 RDX. My car is 5,000 miles on it. Ever since the very first day I drove it, every few weeks I turn on the car and it acts like it’s a frozen computer. The display shows a constant circle in motion that never stops until you turn the car off and then back on again. My most recent issue is out of the blue, while on vacation, we received alerts for every system. Emissions, brakes, cruise control, etc, warning us of high speeds and acceleration. This happened as soon as we turned the car on after it had been driven the day before no issues and was parked in a garage. My husband backed up the car thinking it was some kind of fluke and the car would not accelerate at all. Had to tow the car to the dealership it was undrive able: all to be told that as soon as it got there, they cleared the sensors and because they did not come immediately on, that there was nothing they could do. It appears that there are som major issues with the sensors based on this class action lawsuit and even with the notifications coming back on, repairs have not been successful and preventing said drivers filing this lawsuit from having their car come to a complete stop while driving because the sensor on the transmission failed, etc. This is extremely dangerous and I am beyond afraid to drive my brand new car. This is not ok!!!
