Does the Acura RSX (2003 Base Model) Have a Gas Tank Flap?
Written by: darader on Nov 26, 2007 8:35:04 AM
I have a 2003 RSX base model. Yesterday after getting gas I noticed the flap that is typically there on all the other Honda cars I've owned is missing. Am I an idiot or has it fallen into the tank or was it never there. The dealership didn't have an RSX to show, but pointed out other Acura models don't have the small metal flap where you put the gas nozzle ... Read More

I have now had my ECM stolen out of my S type for the third time, twice on my street, and once at my aunt's house, all in very safe neighborhoods in San Francisco. Acura has no solutions whatsoever. The only thing I can do is use people's garages when I visit. I also don't have a garage, but I pull my car down my driveway and crawl out the hatch. ... Read More

I also have a type-S 2003. The details of your post are exactly the same as what has happened to me. EVERYTHING, even the discussions with Acura are the exact same. The only difference in my story are the dates. Once about three months ago, and then again last Thursday the seventh. Scot

Stolen Engine Control Module (ECM/ECU) – 2003 RSX Type-S
Written by: chipi on Dec 4, 2006 10:48:19 AM
I have a 2003 RSX Type-S. I live in San Francisco, CA. I was shocked in March of 2006 to find that the engine control module (ECM) was stolen out of my RSX. The car was parked in my driveway. What was confusing was that the alarm of the car never alerted me to the theft and there were no visible signs of break in or damage to the exterior of ... Read More

turn signals, hazard lights
Written by: jdlrn on Jul 20, 2006 7:09:26 PM
I just bought a used 2003 Acura RSX. Unfortunately, when I got it home I noticed that neither the turn signal nor the hazard lights work. I replaced the fuses for both with no change. I've never heard of a bulb causing all lights to malfunction, but I guess I will try that next. Also, the turn signal indicator lights on the dash don't light either. Any ideas out there? Thanks. ... I have a 2003 RSX 5-speed, and I don't believe the 2nd (and 3rd) gear grind is a shift timeing issue. I've had mine grind at low rpms with shifts I know were slow, solid, and accurate. I've purchased new an '89 Accord, '96, '99, and '02 Civics, all 5-speeds and never had this problem(or anything similiar). I fail to see how my shift timing changed suddenly when I purchased this ... Corroded Rims
Written by: henrypeck on Aug 31, 2005 4:33:34 AM
All four rims on my 2003 RSX recently became corroded from an unknown cause. While in for routine maintenance at Acura of Milford, I mentioned this to the service writer. He said that some rims had improperly applied clearcoat. The next week, they replaced all four rims under warranty.

Hey, I'm 18 and my parent are going to buy me a new car under $30,000. Help me choose a car that is reliable, dependable, and has good resale value. I am thinking of getting an 2003 accord coupe EX V6 auto or 2003 acura RSX auto with leather. I am getting auto because I can share that car with people in my family. There are NO major or minor differences between the 2002 and 2002 RSXs, except the following: 1.) MSRP is different (e.g. 2003 RSX-S is $100 more than 2002 model). 2.) Firepepper Red has been replaced by Redondo Red Pearl. 3.) The 2003 RSX can purchased w/ the "Factory Performance" package [rip off!]. Check Edmunds' 2003 Acura RSX review for confirmation. 2002 RSX and Celica Pricing
Written by: beowulf7 on Sep 9, 2002 10:38:10 PM
You shouldn't pay more than a few hundred over invoice for either model. I've seen the Celicas (back in May, in fact!) for just $100 above invoice. welst10, since you're in north NJ, check out Montclair Acura (973-239-3700). I heard they got some good prices up there since they sell by volume. Talk to the Indian salesman there. A friend bought a 2003 TL this past March for ~$27.5k, which at ... Read More

2003 RSX
Written by: beowulf7 on Apr 12, 2002 8:04:04 AM
I went to the local Acura dealer yesterday and asked a salesman about the new cars. He said that Acura is only releasing the 2003 cars in the Spring for the 3.2 TL and CL. Their other cars will be out in the Fall. He also mentioned that I shouldn't expect any changes for the 2003 RSX except for perhaps a new color or two.

Anybody hear estimates on when the 2003s will be coming out? Test drove a Type S yesterday and really liked it. While at the dealer, noticed a few of the other Acura models had the 03 version already on-site. Thinking it might be worth waiting a couple months if the 03 RSX-S is on the way...

Hi beowulf7- 2003 Acura RSX
Written by: revka on Mar 13, 2002 5:43:25 AM
You can post your questions about the 2003 RSX in this discussion. We purposely leave the model years off of certain discussions, so people can discuss more than one year model in the same area. This helps to reduce the amount of discussions needed for one particular make/model. Otherwise some of our busier boards tend to get very cluttered, making it difficult for people to find the main ongoing discussions. Back ... Read More

RSX vs. Tiburon
Written by: beowulf7 on Jan 31, 2002 9:38:02 PM
Heck, the RSX has been cross-discussed with many other autos lately on Edmunds' Town Hall (WRX, Celica, C230, Eclipse come to mind). Maybe we should create an RSX vs. Tiburon board. In the meantime, I was just stating that the RSX, given that it is *not* as luxurious as the LS430s of the world (simple price check will prove that), should cost less. I'm not saying the Tiburon (I was referring ... Read More

Edmunds' review of the RSX
Written by: beowulf7 on Jan 30, 2002 7:52:16 PM
Edmunds ostensibly likes the base version of the RSX. Things they didn't like about it can be cured with the Type S (except for the unexciting and bland styling). They drove the slower and heavier auto instead of the manual. RSX-S, w/ its extra 40 HP and 6-speed manual, should shave at least 1 sec off the 0-60 time vs. RSX base w/ auto. I'm not sure what they meant by ... Read More

John, since you work for Acura, do you know what they plan to change (if anything) for the 2003 version of the RSX? I realize it's a relatively brand new car, so there won't be wholesale changes. However, will Acura fix the alleged engine bug (super-delicate break-in of the engine), add a console between the driver and passenger seats, introduce new colors, tweak any styling issues, etc.? Finally, when will the ... Read More

RSX has serious new competition

I went to the Philly Auto Show on the opening day (Sat., 1/5). I got there kind of late so I didn't get a chance to meticulously look at the RSX and similar cars in its class. 16" wheels
Written by: beowulf7 on Dec 5, 2001 9:33:36 AM
I didn't mean to diss RSX's tires because they were only 16"; I wanted to highlight the fact that Acura uses poor performance and substandard tires for their Integras/RSXs. Yes, the Hyundai was a joke in terms of reliability and workmanship. But they are trying to change that. Why doesn't Acura offer a 10-year 100,000-mile power train warranty like Hyundai? I admit I was (and still am) also a skeptic with ... Read More

If you haven't read the article yet, you might want to check out: http://www.edmunds.com/reviews/preview/articles/48117/article.html The Tiburon, at least from the pictures and predicted specs, is looking like a better car than the RSX-S. At the least, this new generation Tiburon can eat up some of the RSX's market share. It looks like a poor man's Ferrari 456, which makes for better styling than the RSX's Civic look. Sketch vs. Photo
Written by: beowulf7 on Oct 11, 2001 3:45:46 PM
alex18t (#493), I would beg to differ. Yes, there is obviously a resemblance between the sketch of the Acura RSX and the actual vehicle that roams the roads today. However, I don't think they look very similar at all. IMHO, the bigwigs at Acura took the designers' sketch and made the engineers tone it down (made it more conservative looking). Since seeing is believing, I'll let this discussion board decide. First, ... Read More
