8.5 years of the same vehicle
I have owned this car since purchased new in August of 2000. I love driving the car, handling is crisp. I have got over 30 mpg on several occasions. It is so comfortable to drive and ride in, the seats are perfect for almost every body type. I had the same transmission problem that people mention on this website.

Exceptional Automobile
My reliable 240 was ready to be replaced, and I knew I wanted to stick with the brand. The XC looked good, my wife and I had a child on the way, and we were never interested in the whole SUV thing. (Do I even need to mention the "M" word?) It wasn't until I spoke to a friend who had a photograph of the next generation Volvo wagons that I put my purchase on hold. Talk about a dream come true. The T5 has it all - amazing looks, horsepower to spare, incredible handling and control, and it is perhaps the most comfortable car I've ever had the pleasure of driving. Given the choice of a huge engine or XC, I went with the engine - and am very happy I did.
I'm happy, it's not that bad!
Wow! After reading the poor reviews of the 2001 XC 70, I had to let everyone know about my good experience. I've owned Volvos and my parents have owned Volvos for many decades. I purchased this car for the turbo and carrying capacity. I've been pleased. I bought it at 75,000 mi and now it's at 100K. I've kept up with the maintenance, which has been a bit more expensive than my sedans, but I have not experienced the transmission issues nor electronic issues that are posted on this site. Issues have been: alternator, 1 software update, transmission flush, cam seal leak, and common maintenance. There will always be the bad stories that are reported first. I'm happy with my car.
Volvo XC Not after the warranty
I bought this vehicle in its 3rd model year and it had all kinds of kinks. Under warranty all of these issues were free ($6000 worth), but note that I sold the vehicle as soon as the warranty was up. Loved driving it; impeccable customer service and reasonable service prices but am not willing to pay for unreasonable problems.//I have 2 labradors and an infant who go with me everywhere. This vehicle has the space of a midsized SUV and somehow handles the road like my tiny 325i BMW.//With the car seat installed behind the passenger seat there is little room left up front--in that configuration, my husband is 6' and refuses to ride in the passenger seat as his knees are up in the dashboard
