I love this car!
Presently at 93,000 miles. Yes I have had the odd quirky issue, but the only major item was a radiator replacement. Transmission has been fine and 'baby' runs quite well. I use my wagon to transport mulch, stone, plants in the summer and she's always been a jewel. I love this wagon and plan on keeping for a very very long time.
surprising performance for a 'wagon'
the v70 2.4T is to soccer moms what patty lupone is to WB network programming: howlingly inappropriate. this is a bonafide sports sedan with extra greenhouse space where a trunk would be. The turbocharged inline 5 that Volvo's been tweaking for years has reached its apex starting with the 2001 model year, and it is one of the smoothest, lag-free, and willing powerplants of its type I've driven. Volvo also chose to place the V70 on solid footing in the corners, so handling is crisp and without excessive body roll or sag, and the ride is just dynamite, even on the potholed streets of Chicago.
2001 V70 XC AWD
Love the car BUT.....3 transmissions replaced all under warranty (good luck XC90 owners, you got the same lemon trans but a much heavier vehicle...see you in the shop!!!!), engine rear main seal failed and had to be replaced, vibration, excessive tire wear, headlights burn out every 6 months, squeeks and growns from suspension, soft leather tears very easily with kids. Parts prices are ridiculuously expensive.
Great
This car is awesome.
Best of Three
My third Volvo wagon has been the best. The turbo engine responds well in a pinch, with no problems in 2 1/2 years. Very caring service experience with loaner cars a real plus for a one car family. Very quiet on the road, with excellent stability and of course, those wonderful seats.
