Good solid car
Purchased car with 101k miles, now has 124k. Very dependable mechanically, although I have had some minor interior electrical problems. If recommended services are performed on schedule, the car runs like a dream and drives even better. I was going to buy an SUV as a second car in addition to the Volvo, but now I'm thinking about a 940 wagon.
A Beautiful Vehicle
Since its purchase, I have only had to take it to a mechanic twice. In 14 years, there were only a handful of mechanical problems. This car is set apart from those of other manufacturers because you can actually do the work yourself. The styling is simple and functional, the seats are very comfortable and the car keeps on looking brand new. I wish I had more than one.

Good, solid car
I bought this car as a backup to my 1986 740 wagon which had 420,000 miles on it at the time. The 740 is still fine even after 440,000 (original engine and manual transmission) but I drive the 940 every other day just to keep it 'fresh.' When I got it at 107,000, the 940 was as close to mint condition as it could be. It was babied by the previous owner. I put in new radiator, timing belt, mass air flow meter and a few little things and it runs like a Swiss watch. My gas mileage averages about 25 in everyday driving, 30 on long trips, which is pretty good all things considered. I really like these rear drive Volvos. It feels like you're driving a safe down the road.
volvos rule
if you really want a good car that is not going to let you down, i would definately drive a volvo. i drive a 1994 volvo 940, and it has never died while driving, or done anything crazy. though volvos can be expensive now, they're not going to gost you later on.
Amazing, the 940T is good at so many things, that
Volvo could go throughout the car, do some limited u;dates, and keep the computer crap los, and start selling them again! My old Volvo 1986, 245 station wagon, collided with a Crown Vic. Both cars were traveling 60 mph and my (wife) walked-away the crash, and ended-up rendering help to a young man Stuck Behind the Wheel of his Crown Vic. He lost an eye and more. And my wife only suffered a broken ankle muscular pains for a week or less. Wow, what a car! The Volvo 940 TURBO is a blast to drive, I'll drive it until parts are no longer found, and then some. Thanks, Volvo for building the 240, 740, 940, 960s.
