I’ve had this car for a little over a year now. I really love taking it on long road trips since it’s very comfortable and quiet on the highway. The car feels really solid. However I do have some complaints. The transmission tends to shift in a jerky manner upon accelerating from a complete stop or when accelerating from slowing down. Also, there’s a very annoying creaking sound coming from the b-pillar that has never seemed to gone away. Lastly, the 2018 model has had numerous recalls issued so I’ve had to take the car into the dealership multiple times to address these.
So far the Tiguan SE is great’

Love the interior layout and all the tech and safety features. Very comfortable for family travel. Had an issue at first with the new transmission, but after a recall from VW and a software update all is well. Car drives, looks, and feels great!

After trying to convince my wife to get a CRV or Rav4 my wife really wanted the Tiguan. I didn’t drive it untill about 3 months into our ownership when we went on vacation. Our trip consisted of about 1500 miles of open desert and mountain driving and I was pleasantly surprised at how it drove but was even more so by the gas mileage. We averaged 33.2 mpg for the entire trip. Comfort wise it was great. I usually get back pain after a couple hours of driving and I was able to get comfortable and minimize my pain. It’s been almost a year of ownership and it still drives and looks new.
