Recalls Drastically Reduced Value of Vehicle

Attracted to car because of the brightness of LED ambient lights which gave full lighting to panoramic sunroof. Soon after driving, this feature was recalled with no manufacturer repair within the year and six months I have driven the car while I am still paying full price to lease this Lemon. I am nearing the end of the Lemon Law process and will soon go to state arbitration if approved.

5 trips to dealer in the first year

Love the look of the car but it started having issues imemdiately... it lacks pick up and makes a noise when you first start it up. Dealership states that is normal for the car to sputter when its cold. Really? a new 2018 sputter? The sunroof light recall, promised to get $150 visa card for my troubles, but that never came - nor did the call to replace it. But wait, there’s more, my heat went out and the instrument panel showed the interior of my car was 140 degrees - yes alarming!!! Pretty shotty. Not to mention, Vw only offers a shuttle service NO LOANERS for the high price of these vehicles. Would I buy it again? no ... because the service I have received from VW is sub par!

2018 VW Tiguan one year review

I have owned my 2018 Tuguan for one year now, have driven 2700 miles. I have had one problem, the driver seat memory buttons have stopped working. Have not taken it to dealer yet. I am 86 and the Tiguan has sufficient power for me. I have only driven in the Houston city area, no highway trips. I picked it because it is small enough to fit in my limited parking at my Daughter's condo. It also has a power lift gate and room for hauling my walker. It drives very well and the 8 speed automatic does a good job. I think I know something about handling having done SCCA club racing and autocrossing in many sport cars. I haven't owned a VW in many years, and owned a Mini Countryman and a Kia Soul before the Tiguan. I would recommended it for my use.

Hello, I will be specific as to my overall experience with this car. Styling - VW did an amazing job both exterior and interior especially with the R-Design model we selected. Interior comfort - Having owned Volvos, I would say the seating is comfortable, but not legendary like Volvo - I am 6'0 and fit very comfortably in the car, as do my older kids. We opted for 3rd row as well, and though not great for taller people, for a short distance, 3rd row would work fine for adults. You do give up some cargo space for the 3rd row, which I don't personally miss. Performance - Acceleration - OK this was a HUGE miss for VW. Why put an all new Bcycle motor, transmission in this car. VW already had tried and true 2.0T in GTI, Atlas, etc.... Step on the throttle to the floor and the car does not even move... scary right. So, I made a "modification" using 3rd party software to "direct throttle input" and made a huge difference. Again, VW what were you thinking? Now, once the car is moving, it drives Extremely nice, absolutely love it. Snow - performance was incredibly good, we normally run dedicated winter tires, but this year actually with long multi hour trip over ice/snow and mountain passes, the Tiguan performed extremely well in the "snow setting" on its OEM tires. Fuel economy - has been better than expected, 30+ on highway, this was a nice surprise. Other cool stuff - the Fender audio is great (I own a GTI as well, and the non-Fender is not nearly as nice). All the other tech pieces in the Prem version are also very nice, cockpit layout is VERY good. Headlights - the quality is EXTREMELY nice, however from the factory the angle they are set to is HORRIBLE. I modified using adjusters and coding, and WOW literally night and day.. IMO - bad quality control VW... Value - I honestly think cars in general are way overprices, so to me, I just don't see the reason for the price. I suppose in comparison, it is well priced to its competitors. Resale, I am pretty much certain it will be discouraging, so main reason we decided to lease this SUV over purchase. I have never done that before, but just don't feel this will hold its value with maybe say a Toyota Highlander. Time will tell.
