SEL with all the fixings
I love this car. Writing this after 18k miles. I really couldn't be happier. I'd have absolutely no problems with this at all in the 14 months of ownership, minus an electrical switch that came loose, and was covered by warranty. I don't understand the complaints from those reviews regarding mileage, as I average 32 MPG combined, but that's obviously based on my driving habits. The features in the SEL trim, especially the digital cockpit, heated seat steering wheel, Android auto, and panorama roof are huge difference makers. I've had five Audi's, and have absolutely no regrets about going to a VW. My goal was to get the nicest small SUV that I could that ran on regular gasoline, and absolutely achieved that! The only thing that's quirky about the car is how to get to the spare wheel. Make sure you have the dealership talk you through that. The third row and ergonomics of the tailgate area are just absolutely amazing! I've had kids from 4:00 to 11:00 sit back there, and they all love it. It is absolutely not for adults, but for a pinch, it's absolutely great to have. In regards to the tailgate compartments, I store all sorts of things in the stowage compartments.

Better vehicle than reviewed
I own a 2018 Tiguan SE 4motion and I am totally happy with it. Yes, in the beginning there were some recalls on some minor issues, but every single one was fixed immediately. The acceleration was a bit sluggish in the standard drive---but pulling the lever back it changes into sport drive and it will GO if you hit the gas pedal. Want more? Get a Porsche. This is not a sports car, but a roomy, family friendly SUV. I hooked up a loaded U-Haul trailer to it and drove 2,000 miles from NC to Kansas and my Tiguan climbed through the Virginia mountains smoothly with little shifting. The mpg was 19 mpg (mind the trailer!!) On the way back, without the trailer, the average speed of 65-70 miles/hour on cruise control yielded 34 mpg!! So, NO-- it is not thirsty as described in some "reviews".. After 2 years of ownership I still go the longer routes to my destination because I just LOVE the ride in it. And YES- I buy another one in a heartbeat. Actually, after my son rode with me, he bought one as well and he is as happy as I am.

Great SUV
We have owned our 2018 for three months and love it. It’s is extremely quite and drives beautifully. The interior is very comfortable, has clean design and very spacious. My favorite feature is the panoramic moonroof. My only gripe would be that it is a little underpowered.
Loved the Tiguan SEL premium.
I loved this little crossover so much. Silk blue with all the bells and whistles. Great features for the money. Top of the line sound system left some to be desired but great fender audio. Engine isn’t very powerful. Sport mode faked engine power well though. Can’t tow like it’s sister Tiguan’s across the pond. Only a max of like 1500 I think here in the states. Barely enough to haul a set of sea doo’s. Very roomy for its class. Lacked the sporty driving experience of all other VW’s I’ve owned (2021 Jetta, 2018 beetle convertible). Only way to close the automatic trunk was with the button on the lift gate, kind of annoying but at least it was automatic. Lots of sunroof recall work for leaks. Left the cabin smelling moldy. VW service replaced almost everything but the seats on warranty still didn’t get rid of the mold smell. Sunroof leak fried the infotainment system... Also covered under warranty. At 49k needed control arms and possibly ball joints. Didn’t feel like fighting for warranty work again even though it was guaranteed up to 72k miles. VW service made warranty work long and drawn out. VW of America had to be contacted for the service center as it kept ordering wrong parts or not repairing the vehicle correctly. The service center also lost my keys... Eventually I have now traded for a bigger suv that could tow a little more. Don’t regret my time in the drivers seat of the Tiguan when I had it. Reliability needed some work. Seats are hard, typical of German vehicles... but they are supportive and comfortable. Great car for the money. The time I had my Tiguan I thoroughly enjoyed it. Besides all the plagued warranty work. Also, had a loaner Tiguan without the Led style head lamps. The one I owned had the LED signature headlamps, long story short... wouldn’t drive a Tiguan without the advanced lighting packages. Standard halogen head lamps were terrible. Hopefully smart keys should be standard for convenience in the future and led headlights should be standard on all models similar to what VW has done on the Jetta and Atlas. Will continue loving the Jetta and appreciate my time I had in the Tiguan despite the large time the vehicle remained in service. Beetle had zero problems and Jetta had zero so far.

A Diamond in the rough
Our Tiguan SE is great !! It's the best value for the money in the Tiguan line. All the nav aides are awesome, the ride is comfortable and we feel safe inside. Good crash tests were a part of our decision.
