Used 2006 Volkswagen Passat Consumer Reviews
Anything but VW
Loved the car until it hit 40K. Thank God I purchased extended warranty. two A/C compressors, one ABS module, alternator, (each of these cost at least $1200), fan motor, trunk latch, catalytic converter, part for Turbo, interior lock buttons peeled, arm rests peeled (VW would not do anything about this) No excuse for any of this. I'm used to Asian cars, never had these problems with them! Had car towed twice, once for alternator and most recently for ignition part. That did it. I traded for a new 2015 Mazda6 last March. What a great car! Styling, mileage, quality, reliability. I don't understand why people make excuses for poor reliability with some brands like VW. I won't put up with it. Just read reviews. The top cars for reliability are Lexus, Mazda, Toyota, and Honda. Don't see any VW's up there do you? No excuse for poor reliability, I learned my lesson. Got rid of this car two years ago and bought a Mazda6, Very happy with Mazda, what a difference., No problems.

What a waste of $27,000
Air Conditioning went out 3rd year, window washer fluid pump went out the same year. Check engine light stays on all the time. The inside interior is PEELING... really? all buttons are worn off, the lock buttons are bubbling and peeling, even the ones in the back seat where no one hardly sits. Starting to rust. Bought brand new off the show room floor with 16 miles on it. NEVER buying VW again.

Thanks Volkswagon
I was looking between the Acura TL, BMW 3-Series, and when I finally test drove the New Passat, there was no more competition in my mind. I love this car. The ride, the placement of everything inside, Everything is great! I know that Volkswagon has had problems in the past, so time will tell with the Passat.
Teutonic Solidity - Fun To Drive!
I've had the car for seven months now. It's had zero problems so far, no defects. The 2.0T engine is very quick! The car is nimble and crispy. The platform is really rigid. I'm an auto enthusist so I drive the car hard. The brakes are excellent. I love the "brake assist". The steering is pretty good, but it's a little light. Under hard acceleration there's quite a bit of 'torque steer' - meaning the car veers to the right somewhat. Most people won't notice it, but I really dig into the accelerator. This is normal w/ Front Wheel Drive cars. The transmission is pretty good. It downshifts quickly for passing. I would prefer the Tiptronic function to be adjacent to the 'Sport' setting though.
Best Car I have Ever Owned
To compare this automobile to a Toyota Camry or Honda Accord is to do it an injustice. They are simply not in its league. I would compare it to a Volvo S60, Nissan Maxima, 2006 Toyota Avalon, BMW 3-Series, etc. It is German engineering at it's most innovative and a truly remarkable package all put together. You would think you are driving a BMW or an Audi (OK, you probably actually are driving an Audi) and the turbo makes this car a blast. It has lots of power, features, room, blatant good looks and personality. I used to think VW's were overpriced but now I see they are underpriced for the class of vehicles they truly are in competition against.
