Used 2006 Volkswagen Jetta Consumer Reviews
Above Average
This car seems to have the same issues as other cars. I bought it new with a grand total of three miles on it. 60,000 miles later the airbag light is on and a coolant temperature sensor has failed. Don't know about the airbag light but the temperature sensor is about $20 from NAPA. The fuel economy is excellent, I average 47 mpg to and from work. I use the cruise control as much as possible and that seems to help. I am not a VW guy and to be honest the car is a little feminine for me but I'm long over it. It does use weird oil and oil filters but so far haven't had a problem at Jiffy Lubes across the country. I definatly recommend this car, I think its better then most others
You need to drive one
This is my third and favorite VW. I have previously owned a '00 Golf, '01 GTI VR6, and an Audi A6 4.2. The Audi is the standard I have come to judge all other vehicles by and the TDI stands up well. The power/economy ratio cannot be disputed. It does lack power over 80 mph but the torque from 10-60 is great. The DSG is the most amazing transmission I have ever driven. It is lightning fast and smooth shifts plus one more gear than the stick! I bought the car over the phone and did not spend enough time checking fit and finish on the lot; as a result I have found a few build quality issues. They are minor overall, but really check your car out before you drive off, Hecho in Mexico. Great Car!

A wonderful car
I test drove the Lexus IS 250, Toyota Camry V6, Honda Accord V6, Mazda3, Chevy Impala SS, Subaru Legacy 2.5GT, Acura TL, Infiniti G35 and a few others, only to fall in love with the Jetta within 5 minutes of the test drive. The Jetta 2.0T represents a wonderful combination of ride, handling, power, and fuel economy. The build quality/material are on par with many luxury vehicles. The interior is tastefully designed with great ergonomics. The engine has very good pickup, especially in 3rd and 4th gear, and it feels like it is gaining more power after the 1st and second oil change. The powerful brakes saved my day a few time already.
Can't beat the mileage
This is one great car to drive. VW did a nice job blending style and performance. My first tank got 43.2 MPG. The car has a solid ride that is great on back roads. Everyone has commented how quiet it runs for a diesel. On the highway you can't tell its a diesel. Its acceleration is better then you would expect for a 100 HP engine; the torque on the engine really shows when getting onto the highway, you can blend into traffic with no problem. Some people have mentioned that this car has a poor stereo, but I find that mine is fine. It sounds better as you crank it up. It is a little difficult to see to the side and back with the large pillars designed for safety.
Perfect car
I'm a proud owner of the '06 Jetta and from the moment I drove it off the car lot I've been nothing but in love with it! I recently took in on a road trip and got GREAT gas mileage (30 mpg) it COMFORTABLY seated 3 adults & a baby who's in a car seat. I have nothing bad to say about this car at all! It's 100% amazing!!!
