Awesome car for the Money

I had been waiting for this car to hit the US market for 3 years, when it was finally here I bought the first one I could find. 2 months later, I couldn't be any happier about my purchase. This car handles exceptionally well, is super fast, looks great, and fits into just about any parking place too! Its interior is spacious, and well laid out, with nothing goofy or cheap looking. Driving it is truly a thrill, period. Basically it puts a huge grin on my face every time I drive or even think about my GTI. Then when I think about how little I had to spend to get a car that makes me so happy, I'm even more thrilled. Kudos VW! Great job, just wish I didn't have to wait so long.

Best Car I Ever Owned

Before I drove small BMWs but grew tired of their narrow interiors (I am 6.6 ft. tall). I was amazed by the GTIs spaciousness even on the back seats. And once driven I was hooked. Perfect steering, enormous power and the most fun to drive gear unit ever (DSG). Plus the GTI omits the shriekness of most other hot hatches.

Back to its Roots

This new GTI is everything the hot hatchback should be. It's quick off the line, has plenty of room and usability, is incredibly fun to drive, and gets pretty good gas mileage. I traded in my '02 Jetta for this car, and went from a true manual to the new DSG transmissoin, but couldn't be happier. The new transmission is what got me interested in this car, and I have to say it has all the benefits of both manual and auto trannies, and no drawbacks. The new styling is splendid, and the plaid interior makes you get in and say "I love this car"

The hottest car I've ever owned!

I just bought it on 5/17 and the only thing I'm unhappy about is having to wait so long for lunch and to go home! I don't know what it takes for some of you to rate a car highly, but this is the best vehicle I've owned out of 30. It has unbelievable handling, a superb interior, it's full of features, and I got 26 mpg on the first tank. This car has that intangible "right" feel like no other. Its power is an absolute blast, it's fun to embarrass other cars that cost quite a bit more. Its suspension tuning is spot on. It has safety features are everywhere. I felt drunk the first few days of ownership. I also considered the Civic Si sedan, but couldn't wait and 129 lb. ft. of torque won't cut it for me.

This is my second Volkswagen GTI and I must say they get a bad rap on the speed and handling sides. With a straight (no cat) exhaust system and a set of TEIN coils I'm able to hustle Nissan 350Zs and stock Honda S2000s to the point of spin in the moutians. All while being able to clock repeatable 14.4s @ 94 mph at the local drag strip. Try to find that elsewhere with heated seats and 150 mph stability in other cars for $350 a month.
