Initial impressions are very good. Presetting radio stations is a chore but otherwise system ok. So far no problems other than car delivered with chipped paintwork. Great daily driver.

Fun, fast, practicality

I purchased this used GTI SE 6M a few months back. Low miles, certified. Went in looking for an automatic but drove the manual and glad I did. GTIs have been hard to find in my area. I would buy the manual again every time. Been reading about a GTI for years, all the good reviews. Don't know why I didn't buy one before. I have had lots of different cars, trucks and this is one of the best in terms of what you get. This car is a great long distance trip car with lots of space for stuff, handles great in the rain, very good gas mileage and again a great high speed cruiser. Pros. Steering - nicely weighted Handling - stable at speed, this car never feels nervous going fast Power - will surprise you Leather seats seem to be better quality than other makes Low center of gravity Great driving position Like the painted brake calipers fuel mileage Middle ground - The infotainment system is not as bad as some of these folks make out. I really like the haptic volume control on the steering wheel. Would a few more knobs be good sure, but it does not bother me and is not the deal breaker some make it out to be. I suspect more cars will be going this route in the future like it or not. Cons Lots of tech here but no rear cross traffic alert? even with parking sensors... Interior door body panels creak a bit when cornering hard and changing elevation of the road (not a rattle and does not happen under normal driving, but strange) The Harmon Kardon system lacks a bit of high end clarity, not bad and does sound better as you turn it up loud. Maybe a sporty engine cover, maybe was a Pandemic thing. no inside handle at bottom of hatch, to close it, very odd is a little pricey, even used Long term Only time will tell, will it have low number of problems? I have had Toyotas, Hondas, Nissan, Hyundai, Ford. All have had problems here and there so we shall see.

Fun to drive, practical to own

Driving this car puts a smile on my face every time. Base GTI manual. I bought it during Covid purely based on GTI reputation and have no regrets. The shifting is lovely. Cornering is lovely. Acceleration and braking lovely. Fits all of the soccer gear for coaching my kids with rear seats up. Sure infotainment and rear camera are buggy, but who cares at the highway on-ramp 270-degree bend? Infotainment system is fine after I got used to it. Front parking sensors give warnings and errors in snow and rain, but that’s livable. I hope to wear out the stock all-season tires to justify getting summers and more grip for the engine. Winter tires make a big improvement in snow. Sunroof is nice. I enjoyed my BMW 328 6sp with Sport package a little more only because of the RWD grip from 255 tires. Handling was comparable to the GTI.
