Yes, this is a basic car. Yes, this is not a girl/guy picker-upper. However, it is as these other review say it is; A very dependable, realiable, economically designed vechile. I like the basic features of this car. Manual windows, non-powered lock doors and the remote control like car antenna. The basic function of this geneuine japan manufacture car is consistant quality and realiability.

Old Tercels Never Die . . .

Its almost easier to describe the many things this Tercel is/has NOT (like, NOT a smoothe, quiet, comfortable ride, etc). A Lexus its NOT. Its your basic extrafeatureless, standard rockbottom- of-the-line, plain, modest, common, no- frills/no thrills low-profile, econo- class car that's been consistently effective & reliable, efficient & affordable transportation. Despite 170K mileage and 2 very worn cylinders, it can still chug along at 65mph!

Good on Wallet, Painful on Body

Bought this car in 95 and I got what I paid for but not much more. I had no repairs to speak of until 99k when a connecting rod came loose. I had taken to one garage in Florida and two in New York in the previous year because the oil light came on but it had oil. They didn't figure it out till it was too late. Also the passenger side door and the trunk leaked after about 50k. The seat has always been ergonomically the most torturous, after 45 minutes sitting on a metal toilet without the seat would be more comfortable.

How amazing it is seeing the fuel meter go slowly. I use this car to go to college and its amazing on how economical it is. Its a bit slow when full of people and cargo but when you are alone... let the good times roll. Is small to fit anywhere and it's reliable. Barely have mechanical problems with it.

I'm 18 I got this car a little over a year ago its great. I have 235,000 miles on it and I take it on a 420 mile round trip (avg mpg 42) every other week. I live in the bay and force it to drive fast. It sounds a little rough when giving it gas but it has never given out and always starts. We own two of these because they are great cars. I have 3 other friends with this car and they all have over 270,000 miles. The car handles great I took a turn 20 mph turn at 55 learned all the weight is in the front.
