Used 2019 Toyota Tacoma Double Cab Consumer Reviews
Fantastic Truck
I love my truck! In 32 years I’ve had 2 Ford F-150’s and 2 Chevrolet Silverado’s and this new Tacoma is by far and away my favorite. I am a pipeline construction inspector and very often have to drive off-road, in out of the way places. Mud, rock and steep hills are my daily commute, this Tacoma handles it all like a champ! I couldn’t be happier with Toyota.

Great reliable truck - NOT for everyone.
I have to say this is my first truck ever...I used to commute in SUV type vehicles - Subarus, Acura, BMW, and Honda. If you after upscale interior - you will be most likely disappointed. All Toyota cars are designed to be reliable with limited gadgets that can pose reliability issue. Truck is solid and after 4000 miles I have nothing to complain. It takes a learning curve especially if you switch from large V8s and older tacos. The transmission is programmed for efficiency not speeding. Honestly, I am very thankful to our Japanese designers for doing so - I HATE to waste my money on gas. At 4000 miles, I have 21MPG average going to work through the crowded city. I learned to cooperate with transmission pressing the gas pedal only when I feel its shift - its a very pro-active drive! I can see how this truck can't be everybody preference - my wife who drives smaller BMW sedan, hates my truck.... The Tacoma has more than enough power to move its 2.5 Tons body BUT, what many do not understand, the top HP of 278HP is accomplished at 6000RPM. So next time you want power, just step on gas, rev the engine and Taco will "fly" My truck has ECT button that I can press when I truly need power and less downshifting. I used it twice and works exceptionally well, especially when driving on highway. Every dealer offers test drives so PLEASE do not get this puppy before trying it yourself - this car is NOT for everybody.....one of those love OR hate relationships with nothing in the middle....I truly love mine - just hand clayed and waxed it today. Happy and Safe driving!

This is great truck. It is not a great car!
Great truck and does very efficient what is design to do. Great 4x4, high, fantatic capability off road, on road and to carry stuff around. But this is not a car, not as agile as a car. Sometimes a parking spot is not a parking spot. It takes space. Said that, I love this thing.

Searching for Gears and worthless premium sound
2020 Tacoma TRD Sport with JBL Premium Sound. Have about 6k miles on it. Auto trans is constantly searching for the right gear and is a slight nuisance. My biggest gripe is paying extra for the upgraded JBL sound system and it is absolute garbage. You can barely hear the music at highway speeds or when the windows are down. Not sure what they were thinking. Even with Bluetooth calls, you can barely hear the person on the other line, even at max volume. Max volume on this system is abysmally low. I can’t believe JBL would even want their name on this system. I have a portable JBL speaker that puts out more bass and volume than my truck does. I’m severely disappointed with this fact as music is super important to me. Will be my last Toyota unfortunately. It’s terrible because everything else is great and up to par but in 2020 paying extra for a subpar system is just plain highway robbery.
