Used 2017 Toyota Tacoma Double Cab Consumer Reviews
Great truck, poor gas mileage
This is my first truck, after owning bars and small SUV. I have a model with manual transmission. I'm getting only 18 mpg on the highway. I expected a little bit better. I bought good stuffed tires and took the truck on snowed in mountain passes. In 4wd it holds the road like a champ. I have a full confidence in it. In 2wd it gets some fishtailing that is immediately corrected by traction control (I didn't have any weight in the bed). Breaking is great. I could feel ABS activating only once, when doing aggressive breaking from 60 mph on sheer ice. It partially may be thanks to good winter tires. Low beam headlights are good, high beam--best I've seen. Build quality seems to be OK. I found cross-threaded bolt holding belly pan. I have yet to address it with the dealer. I think materials used on dashboard could be better. My wife has 2010 Subaru Impreza and it feels much more refined, although cost just over 1/2 of a price for Tacoma. Telescopic steering wheel is a joke. I can't lift it high enough to comfortably get out of truck. It traps my right thigh between the wheel and the seat. The truck is also missing driver's side handle to assist in getting in and out of the cab (I'm fairly fit in late thirties). The biggest gripe I have is the fact that heated seats come only as part of $2000 package. I don't need parking sensors or moonroof, heated seats are nice to have in cold climate. All in all, I'm happy with the truck.

Nice truck trans/motor combo is garbage
interior is nice and the truck design is sharp but the transmission is junk. It constantly shifts and it learns the way you drive which is a terrible option for a truck. The truck will cruise at 1000rpm which is way to low for that 3.5l. Not enough torque to pull that off. I like everything else but the driving experience is so bad i am forced to trade it in. Don't want to but i have never been more frustrated in a truck just driving down the street.

Good vehicle loce toyota But!!!!!!
So i have had many 2wd and 4wd and this truck is amazing ! But , the fuel efficiency is off, the trans is too slugish , but the overall feel and ride is perfect !! Its an amazing truck but let's face it ! Prices keep going up like an iPhone! Perfect phone at times , but because of the name, they think value shlould increase!! I think what toyota has done is good somewhat , but no different than the ipone ! If u going to charge 35+ for a truck, i best see leather, and it loaded! Lets face it , most of us are not rich, we dont care for our lives to be payments and banks! If u sell a product make it worth the damn cash!!product price is way to high! Toyota builds its prices off the name! Yes quality can be good depending on what u get but its name isnt everything!! I dont care to pay $40,000 out the Door the rest pf my life for a sr5 4×4 double cab.. i like this truck but u and GMC and all else are [non-permissible content removed]! Pay has not imcreased , but cost of all else is rising! I may be able to pay, but dont care to be strapped for this amount when my 98 chevy s10 can do most of! Great build , but pricing is horrible! Get off the high horse toyota!!!

Traded 2008 Taco for new 2016 TRD Off Rd
After 5 years driving this 2016 bought new after trading in a 2008 Taco SR 5 and getting 85% of original price I am still enjoying. I have had battery issues and Toyota replaced 1st one after only 6 months use. 2nd one has been dead after truck sat for over 7 days. After 36 month service they suggested it was my driving habits or not driving enough causing battery issue. So, now I put on trickle charge if not driving often. Just had 60 month service and said battery good. Don't like transmission searching gears or heighth of driver side handle with window controls that my knee hits on. But, still enjoy driving it and has great aggressive appearance.

A very untrustworthy company
Unsure of Toyota current practices 2025, The trouble with being a small town part of Toyota ownership, As of today in 2023 Toyota has yet to try to improve or recall. So sad, Have not seen or heard of any improvements in Toyota quality, customer care or corporate concern, Toyota sells expensive lawn ornaments, and laugh at your misery, Worst experience of my life, don’t trust toyota motor Corp, corporate or any dealer, their complet lack of care for human life is appalling, this truck bucks, jerks and intermittently locks up the rear differential with a bang that stops or slides the rear sideways. Informed the dealer top mech that ford has the same 6 speed trans and downshifts to low at any speed, maybe that would help their diagnosis? Ha Ha, they did not even care, After 6 morning months of the truck sitting in my driveway or at the dealer waiting for s factory rep to drive, his only words were operational as expected???? I had to eat 14,000 dollars to move into a 4 Runner which I sold because of electrical issues, smoke from under dash, dealer said no problems??? Wait for the fire to start then call? I really didn’t want, or lose more because it was a (Used Truck). Alaska has no dealer support and corporate are hiding behind the brand. This truck is going to injure people and then maybe toyota will fess up. I am having a few issues with the 4 Runner but have to drive to Seattle to get warranty work??? Not happy . I have been a mechanic for 37 years and would not drive this unsafe truck. I’m currently in a 99 Durango that runs, drives perfect and has 98,000 miles on it. It is far safer and way more reliable than a new Toyota and has the same warranty [None], buy something else
