The 2026 Blazer EV is Chevrolet's midsize all-electric SUV, not to be confused with the standard gas-powered and somewhat forgettable Blazer. The standard Blazer distinguishes itself from other midsize SUVs with sportier Camaro-inspired styling, while the Blazer EV deserves praise for its strong real-world range figures and comfy ride. While it's plenty powerful for most drivers, other EVs are quicker, and they also offer Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. We drove the 2026 Chevrolet Blazer EV on our test track and on real roads. Our Edmunds team conducts rigorous independent vehicle testing, driving 500,000 miles a year.

Driving experience

How does the Chevrolet Blazer EV drive? We tested the Blazer EV RS with its available dual-motor powertrain. At our test track, it accelerated from 0 to 60 mph in an unremarkable 6.2 seconds. That isn't slow compared to a gas-powered SUV — there's enough power for everyday driving — but other dual-motor EVs are zippier, making it easier to reach highway speeds. Emergency braking performance was also lackluster in our testing.

While the Blazer EV leaves a lot to be desired when driven with enthusiasm, we give it credit for being easy to drive in everyday circumstances. Brake regeneration is strong and adjustable, and it allows for one-pedal driving if you prefer not having to press the brakes to come to a stop. The steering also gives a decent amount of feel for the road.

We're impressed by the Chevy Blazer EV's smooth ride. It does a better job of gliding over bumps and ruts than most of our favorites like the Hyundai Ioniq 5. But the Blazer EV's rear visibility is a weak point. It's hard to see out of the back because of the small rear window and large roof pillars in back.

In our testing, we've experienced many glitches with the Blazer EV's driver assist features.

Comfort

How comfortable is the Chevrolet Blazer EV? The Blazer EV is quiet. Even at full highway speed, the interior remains free of wind and road noise. The only exception is the low-speed pedestrian warning sound (broadcast externally to let people know you're coming), which we found too intrusive while sitting in the cabin.

Up front, the climate control system works quickly and effectively to heat or cool the cabin to keep you comfortable from a temperature standpoint. The Blazer EV would be even better in this category if it weren't for its front seats. We found they lack the support and comfort that you want for long trips.

The Blazer EV is appropriately spacious for a midsize SUV. Both rows give you a lot of space, with truly generous legroom in the second row. Getting in and out of the vehicle is a simple process thanks to wide door openings and the perfect step-in height for most people. We also like most of the vehicle's easy-to-use controls.

Owners with small children will appreciate the Blazer EV's accommodations for car seats, though. It's easy to locate the safety seat anchor points, and there's a lot of room to install even bulky rear-facing seats.

In-cabin tech

How’s the tech? Well, there's definitely plenty of screen to work with. The Blazer comes standard with a massive 17.7-inch central touchscreen. It also has Google integration. The Google-powered maps look great, and the Google voice assistant system can be used for a lot of personal and vehicle-based commands. We recommend using a Google account as it makes the apps easier to customize.

Oddly, however, the system does not include Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. While the Blazer EV's infotainment system works just fine, smartphone users will have to rely on Bluetooth connectivity and the infotainment system's native apps. It's worth noting that most rivals outside of Tesla offer both CarPlay and Android Auto.

Storage & cargo

How’s storage and cargo? The cargo area in the Blazer EV is wide but not very deep. Chevy says there is 30.5 cubic feet of space behind the second row, which puts it on par with the smaller Ioniq 5 but behind the also smaller Tesla Model Y. The area under the floor is small and there is no frunk to help. The seats split in a 60/40 configuration and fold, allowing for flexible storage solutions.

Unlike some EVs, the Blazer doesn't have a whole lot of places to put small personal items. The center console area has plenty of places to stash your phone, but there's no place to store a purse or large bag, for example.

Value

Is the Chevrolet Blazer EV a good value? In a segment where it can be hard to find exceptional value, Chevy had an opportunity to come in with something more approachable (like the Bolt EV). However, it did no such thing. The Blazer EV is priced higher to start than most competing electric SUVs. Add some options and your Blazer is suddenly getting close to the starting price of a Cadillac Lyriq. Warranty coverage is also nothing special. But on the upside, build quality is solid, and the interior materials are generally upscale.

Range/Efficiency/Charging

How are the range and efficiency? The EPA estimates that a dual-motor Blazer EV can travel 283 miles on a single charge, which is impressive. In our real-world Edmunds EV Range Test, however, our test vehicle exceeded expectations, going 320 miles on a charge. That's more than most competing EVs we've evaluated, including similar models of the Ford Mustang Mach-E, Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Tesla Model Y.

When it comes to recharging at home, the Blazer EV can handle up to 11.5 kW of power, a standard capacity for most households without requiring extensive modifications. For those on the move, the Blazer EV's standard DC fast-charging hardware delivers electricity at an average rate of 114 kilowatts from a 10% to 80% battery state of charge, as measured during Edmunds' testing. With the right charger, this setup can add nearly 100 miles of range in just over 16 minutes. While this charging speed is about average, it does take roughly twice as long as a Hyundai Ioniq 5 to add the same amount of range.

X factor

The Chevy Blazer EV does a lot of things well but fails to be exceptional at anything other than range. In person, the exterior styling doesn't really stand out and the interior has nothing special about it. This is a fine EV for daily transportation, but it never does anything to wow you.

This vehicle exceeds my expectations. It’s comfortable, I love the styling, big brakes, 22” wheels, and the bright red interior is so awesome. 3.4 seconds 0-60 is spot on. Make sure you get used to car before you explore what it can do… safety first. It’s a car that we plan to own and enjoy for a long time.
