Used 2002 Toyota Tacoma Xtracab Consumer Reviews
Best Toyota Truck I've Owned Yet
All I can say about this truck is that…it's beautiful. I traded in my 93'Toyota 4x4 (Standard) pickup (with 108,000 miles), which was left outside, all year-round, and even in the worst Chicago winters it started every day, for my new 02' in Feb. This new truck is everything I wished my other truck could have been. It has more Power, better pick-up, better handling (which really surprised me), and a sharper look. It maybe a little more pricey than other trucks in the same class, but you're also getting a better quality truck. Which is something I know from personal experience, not just because "JD Powers" says so.
A good truck but for a few nits
Tight and well-built. Underpowered, but this may be the fault of the tall tires which raise the effective gear ratio. Driver seat felt weird at first but my bad back loves it, even on long drives. Weird and irritationg motor rap around 2K under light load, sounds like a rod knock, but can't be heard outside the vehicle. Some folks say the 3RZ motor will just keep running regardless. Bought a 100K "wrapper" warranty just in case.

Glad I did it!
Finally getting rid of a 1991 Toyota Corolla. It was time to get a truck and I was thinking of Dodge, Ford, and Toyota. The more I thought about it, my last Toyota lasted me 11 years and had well over 200,000 miles on it...why would I go with anyone else?! Just bought it and I love it!
Gotta have one.
This is my second Tacoma. My first was a 99, 4 cyl, 4WD, Xcab. It was totaled in an accident. Ended up rolling it at 55mph and walked away w/out a scratch. The truck’s design and construction saved my life! Bought a new 01, V6, 4WD, Xcad. Don’t have one complain about either. It’s great in the mud and snow with the right set of tires. I have accumulated 80K+ miles with both trucks and never had a problem with either one. Just have regular maintenance done. Can’t even complain about a rattle or squeak. I would put my money down another one without thinking about it.

The ride deliver a decent power. Willing to rev any pick up trucks that wants to race. The seat is very confortable but not after for more than 2 hours non-stop ride. Most important, it catches attention to those who drives a different sport trucks. The engine power is there when you need it, especially when going to freeway.
