Used 2007 Toyota RAV4 Consumer Reviews
Just out of college car
This was a very generous gift from my parents for college graduation and although I would be happy with any car given to me, I am overall very pleased with this car. It's an SUV but doesn't necessarily drive like one. It accelerates fast and handles well around turns, it is not top-heavy like many SUVs. The storage is great! I've had that thing packed with 5 adults and enough luggage to where I've had to rely on my side mirrors to back-up, but everyone was comfortable and I heard no complaints, to my face that is. Fairly fuel-efficient for an SUV. Although if that's your priority, I would suggest a Ford Escape or Mercury Mariner.
Smooth Hwy, Little Rough Local Part 2
Follow up to my 4/12/08 review. Hesitation when accelerating is a torque steer issue. The front wheel drive can't handle the massive horsepower. Changed oil and tried premium gas to no avail. This engine is meant for 4WD & not really for FWD. Changed my local driving habits for this vehicle, cannot punch it from a start or at slower speeds & step on it when it's moving faster. Edmunds has an article, "Long-Term Test: 2006 Toyota RAV4" that goes into detail about this acceleration issue with FWD. Wished it came out sooner. We'll probably spend a few more bucks & get into the luxury segment next time. One thing I do know, this engine is sound and should last for a very long time.

I'm thrilled with my RAV4!
I was hesitant to buy an SUV because I've had small cars all my life and had trouble maneuvering and parking the SUVs I had been test driving. My first time in the RAV, I did a tight U-turn and fell in love! The RAV is small enough to easily handle, and when we packed for our first vacation, we had cargo space left over! The fuel economy has been as advertised, if not better. However, I don't drive aggressively, and I followed the "first 1000 miles" recommendations. The first week of ownership, I was aware of slight road vibration under my feet (I was coming out of a luxury sedan) but I no longer notice it. I highly recommend the RAV4.
Could have been a lot better
The RAV4 has some noteworthy strengths, including the peppiness of the 4-cylinder engine. I like the outside appearance and the look of the tan and black interior is nice. However, the interior build quality is severely inadequate. It doesnt look like the interior is going to hold up very well, especially considering its POOR suspension. If you hit a good sized bump, like a pothole or railroad crossing, prepare to cringe! It feels like the car is falling apart.
1500 miles, so good so far...
to be upfront, the only thing that sucks about our new '07 rav4 is having a car payment again.everything else is awesome, besides the fact that this is my wife's daily driver and i hardly get to drive it.v6 power is strong, especially in the midrange powerband.well worth the money to upgrade from the 4 cyl.5-speed auto. shifts effortlessly.have not checked out the 4-wheel drive as of yet,but i would like to see if it will make it out on the beaches in nags head,nc. i will write back if it does,if i don't i will have burried myself to the floorboards trying to get out to the fish.interior room is pretty good even for a big guy.jbl stero rocks hard.
