Used 2003 Toyota RAV4 Consumer Reviews
You won't win a race in this vehicle.
I traded in a 2000 sports car for the Rav 4 because my previous Toyotas (3 of them) held up very well and kept their value (the sports car was already having engine problems and depreciated almost 50%!). The car/truck handles very well (tight turns), but I found the Rav's 4 cylinder engine a bit sluggish. Not very fun to drive on the highway when you're trying to change lanes or get on. However, city driving is a bit more fun.
This Is My Car
So far my RAV4 has been extremely pleasant to drive, easy to maneuver, and very reliable. I purchased this as my "dream car"-the one I always wanted, and I have not been disappointed, as we often are when we buy something we thought would be better than it is. The easily removable rear seats have made it perfect for taking my dogs camping, and I always have plenty of room for anything I need. I have moved my entire apartment (including all normal furniture, such as bed and sofa) twice in this "little" car. I'm exceptionally pleased with it.

Very nice design inside and outside. The engine is a joke but one can get used to it. The AWD is useless - the car is more uncontrollable than FWD and it is very poor on gas mileage (average 19mpg!). Consolation prize - the value seems to be holding well compared to other cars.
Excellent all around-Love it
This Suv is so much fun to drive,it steers and controls so easy.I am under 5 feet tall and can see out of the window without a cushion. It is so reliable.Looks good, very good on gas ,and a good price compared to most Suvs.
So Far So good
I researched extensively before going to test drive Escapes, Liberty's & the RAV4. Right after driving the RAV4, I bought it. The heck with the others! I think the engine is peppy enough & the gas mileage is comparable to the Ford Focus I traded. It rides good and looks stylish, sporty and cute. I now have a lot more room and the first day I made sure it could cross the creek to my favorite campsite! No problem!
