As soon as I saw the Prius v in the showroom, it peaked my curiosity. Having been the previous owner of a 2005 Prius and the current owner of the 2011 Prius, I knew this model must a be a winner. The test drive proved my feelings correct. The mileage so far is in the 40's and the cabin room and comfort surpassed my expectations. Coming from a Volvo XC70, I didn't realize how much rear leg room we would gain with the v. I have read and viewed most reviews prior to the purchase and went with the three version providing with the GPS feature and am very happy with the purchase. Test one for yourself. Like the slogan says, "Once you get you hands on a Toyota, you'll never let go!"

Will NEVER buy another Toyota again

Paid in full at time of purchase $36k, PLUS bought a $3500 extended warranty when I bought this car BRAND NEW. Had no problems for first 10 months. Then it started breaking down every couple of weeks. I took it to 3 different Toyota dealerships, all of whom told me it checked out perfect when they plugged it in to their diagnostic equipment. Third time it was towed into Toyota of Boerne, Service Advisor called me and said it’s burning tons of oil; mechanic could not find any leaks; needed a new $7k motor, BUT warranty company would never agree to cover it. Then he says, “If it was my car I’d just add a quart of oil every few days.” I’m thinking, “WTF, did he really just tell me that?” When I went to get the car intending to take up the matter with Toyota USA, I noticed my invoice said ONLY that he had recommended I get new breaks in front and back and that I refused. When I called Toyota of N. America, I was asked why I’d never taken the car to a Toyota dealership for any of its service or to have the problem assessed. I had ONLY taken it to Toyota dealerships. It had been there for ALL of its recommended/ routine mentanance AS WELL AS everything else. Because it had all been covered by the “new car” warranty and the additional warranty coverage that I had bought. They said there was no record of any of it in their system. Utter Bullsh—!

Prius V inferior to Prius

I continue to be very disappointed in the 2012 Toyota Prius V. I purchased a 2012 Prius V and Prius in October of 2012. I find many issues that make the Prius V an aggravation, dangerous and displeasure especially when compared to the Prius model. These are the reasons: 1. The divers seat’s manual adjustments are terrible and can create dangerous situation to adjust while moving, 2. The engine is not adequate for the weight of the vehicle, 3. The electronics and comfort are inferior to the Prius, 4. Wind noise, 5. Gas mileage is not meet expectations and not as good as Prius, 6. The radio has interference with even local stations. I would not recommend this model and will trade it.

I purchased the car new for around 31k. The seats are reasonably comfy, gas mileage is great, and NO issues since purchased. I do think it could be quieter, and a little better looking. But it works for everyday use. Nothing exciting, but hasn’t been a nightmare to own.
