Power failure

I absolutely loved this car when I bought it, but that changed rapidly when it lost power driving in the mountains. At full speed on an interstate highway, I got a "hybrid system failure" warning, and rapidly lost power, forcing a dangerous pull-off onto the shoulder from the middle lane. Turns out the computer needed to be reset, apparently it failed due to high altitude and relatively high temps. Beware if you plan to drive this vehicle from low to high altitudes as you may find yourself in a very dangerous situation.

Well, I had this vehicle for 2 months now. So far it was a great vehicle, we purchased the platinum hybrid model. It has everything on it and more. Problem is that this past week, I had towed the vehicle to the dealership twice. Vehicle runs good, shut down and don't want to start back on unless it gets jump. I think you shouldn't have to do that on a brand new car with less than 1k miles on it. If I didn't had that problem, will give it 5 stars. The mechanic at the dealership doesn't know what the problem is so far.

We have 6000 miles on our 2021 Highlander Hybrid XLE including a 2500 mile highway trip. Our previous vehicle was a 2005 4Runner 6-cyl which we traded in after 180,000 miles. Mileage is steadily in the 36 range for both highway and city driving. The interior is roomy and holds two sets of golf clubs and matching push carts behind the second row seat. The ride is fine... not in the luxury car class but more than smooth enough. The entertainment system (we got the standard one) is fine. We mostly listen to Sirius oldies stations. Overall, it's a really nice comfortable and economical vehicle. Very satisfied.

So far I love it!

I see many reviews complaining about the gas millage. I've owned this vehicle for a little over a month, I bought it in the middle of some pretty cold weather in NY my MPG displayed 21 MPG after a week. I believe the engine will run a lot when started to heat up the battery, and cabin. I stopped the warmups and turned on the heated seats, and steering wheel my displayed MPG averaged out to 27.5 by the first fill up it took exactly 14 gallons to fill, and the low fuel indicator just turned turned on. Did the math and I was actually getting 33 MPG. Now halfway through the second tank its displaying 37 MPG I'm amazed at the efficiency. I love the looks, interior, and 12 inch display. I find the cabin very quiet at highway speed my biggest complaint is the loud engine noise while accelerating, and apple car play only working with a wire why not Bluetooth Toyota. The technology is a little overwhelming at first it took some getting used to. Lots of USB ports, and two AC outlets should be able to keep every passenger satisfied. If I were to buy a new car again today it would be a Highlander.

Drivers side mirror vibration issue

Lori Marshall, 11/06/2020

The drivers side mirror has a bad vibration especially when traveling at higher speeds so much that it makes distinguishing images difficult. I feel this is a definite safety concern. After review by the dealer and regional field rep, Toyota says this is 'normal for this model'. While it may be present in all similar vehicles, this is not NORMAL.....They are not going to address further. We may be forced to loo look into the Lemon Laws.
