This car has been one of the most reliable fuel efficient cars I have owned in a while. I have had it since 2011 and it now has 30k on it and runs perfect. I only have to fill up the tank once every week and a half. Fantastic car with cute sporty look!~

I will say the Toyota Corolla is EXCELLENT. This is the first car I have driven ten years and never been to the shop except for oil changes and tires. I have a 121,000 thousand miles on it. This vehicle is a 5 speed. The best Everything is original, there have been no problems with the car. YOU WILL NOT GO WRONG WITH A ( TOYOTA).

I could not be more satisfied with my Corolla. Sharp exterior looks and a decent interior. Not the highest end interior but not offensively cheap. The best part of the car has to be the excellent fuel economy. I average between 36-39MPG regularly. The the manual transmission, power is there when it is needed. Is the car a racer? No. But for good, reliable, economic transportation that you're not embarrassed to drive, the Corolla is your car.

Can't Kill a Corolla

I bought this car new as part of the cash for clunkers program in September of 2009. I kind of considered this car to be sort of "bottom of the barrel" choice for me since I was used to buying BMW's and Jeep Grand Cherokee's in the past as well as a range of hand me down in law Oldsmobile's ( yes my Father in laws big boat delta 88's and 98's). Hey what the heck I only commuted 8 miles each way to work, a new car and could trade in the aging no AC and increasing problematic Jeep and was facing 8 long years of kids going to overpriced colleges. Oh yeah and gas prices were going crazy around then. In addition my trusty old time mechanic was sold on anything Toyota or Honda so I felt when the 3 years was up it would be in his stable and he could deal with it. I have to admit it did serve the purpose. Not expensive to fuel up, never seemed to break, easy to park in my ever diminishing at work garage parking spaces, and aside from trying to find it in a parking lot of similar silver color Toyota corolla's it never gave me any trouble. It was just kind of boring and I didn't like the visibility on the side or rear when backing up or people driving into the blind spot. After 9 years and only one or two big price repairs I passed it onto my Bro who wanted to move up from his 1981 diesel Benz that was getting difficult to get replacement parts(and he is a parts guy at a Mercedes Benz dealership) . He liked the one owner appeal and it was the newest car he ever bought. Me? I ended up getting a new 2019 loaded Corolla XSE ( the sporty one) and figure this will sale into retirement with me and may even follow the hearse one day. Now I just got to figure out how to use the "radio" and everything else that goes with it. I figure I have at least 9 to 10 years to do that. It has all the toys. I really like back up cameras on cars like these and the heated seats are a nice touch to warm up the "assets" on those cold new England mornings. I did get the rock ding on the windshield at 400 miles, so at least I got that over with. That will be replaced soon, then onto tooling around in the Toyota.

Bland, yet Practical Vehicle to get from A to B.

I owned a grey 2010 Corolla L (Base Model) 5speed manual for 4 years. I bought it used with 100k miles in Spring 2013 looking for a fuel efficient car to drive to college and back (650 mile trip one way). I made this trip 24 times in subzero/rainy/snowy weather with no issues! I averaged between 34-38.5 mpg highway at 75 mph and 26 mpg driving around town. Very minimal maintenance with this vehicle, only issues was the heat shield came loose, an exhaust leak, and a rattling noise from the camshaft timing gear assembly (this was a known problem for 2009-2010 corollas, search TSB-0087-09). Traction Control and Stability Control do very well in the snow controlling the vehicle. When above 45mph there is a lot of wind noise, making you have to turn up the radio quite a lot to listen to music. Cargo space is very great, I managed to fit all my apartment items in it. Interior materials are very cheap and rattle occasionally. Also, the front seats need LUMBAR SUPPORT! My back ached after only an hour driving it. The radio sometimes did not work on hot sunny days. Unfortunately, when the vehicle approached 160k miles the transmission blew every gear! Still do no know the cause (maybe excessive usage), but will now be looking at a newer Corolla with the 6 speed manual. Without a doubt Corollas are reliable and efficient, yet at the cost of a more cheap, noisy vehicle experience. If you are on a budget and care about getting from A-B with minimal fuel usage and cheap insurance, the Corolla is a great candidate! 2009-2013 Corollas are dirt cheap right now, so pick them up while you can! If you already own one, resale value falls fast! You may get more money selling it privately than trading it in at the dealer if you have over 100k miles.
