Used 1998 Toyota Corolla Consumer Reviews
Love my Corolla
I bought my Corolla because I wanted a car that would last, I could depend on, and wouldn't require a lot of unexpected repair cost. I have not been disappointed. I love the gas mileage, I love the realibility (which is second to none.) I have 165K on it today, and it shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon. Other than regular maintainence I have put nothing into this car. I think about buying something bigger because of the short backseat, however, I am scared to give up the dependability I have grown to expect.
Looks like hell but is stupid reliable
I bought this car about 4 years ago with 115,000 miles. I literally have only done brakes and a battery, besides oil changes. Mine has the 5 speed. The interior is well worn and the usual door handle breakage but all stuff anyone can replace like I have. It now has over 314,000 miles on it. When the time comes I will get another Toyota.

AWESOME DEPENDABLE CAR!!!
I personally have had my 1998 Corolla for over a year and I love it. Nothing has gone wrong on it other than a minor exhaust leak. I recommend this car for sure. It has always started during the freezing Canadian weather, and never let me down. Never broken down! it currently has 251 kms on it and is still going strong. 5 stars I would rate this car.
Breaking the Corolla Legacy
I've always been a big Toyota fan and the reliability of the Corolla speaks for itself. So I was shocked to learn that at 70K miles I'm suddenly burning 1L oil/500 miles. My dealer has recognized this as an increasingly common problem with corollas with the aluminum block engine. Botton-line, engine rebuild even earlier than your average Dodge. BEWARE!
Not Toyota's Best
I dont know what everyone is talking about. I have had my car for 3 years. I bought it used in 2002 w/ about 68,000 miles. And the list of problems start 3 days after I bought it. I don't know if I got the runt or what. But this car is crap. Seats are hard, uncomfortable for drives longer then 20 mins. I had to have a new engine put in it just about 100,000 miles. Only good thing I can say, is I'm glad I bought the extended warantee. Which just went up @ 104K, and now it needs new seals.... just lovely. I bought this car expecting so much. And I must say it has let me down. I honestly wish I had just kept my '98 Dodge neon. Yes you heard me.................
