2003 Camry XLE review

2003 Toyota Camry XLE 4dr Sedan (2.4L 4cyl 4A)

Great deal for a great car from dealer in central NJ. Quiet ride even at highway speed, wonderful JBL audio w/6 disc changer, comfortable leather seats. Wood trim on dash, leather wrapped steering wheel, leather seats w/heated front seats, power driver/pass. seats. Power Moonroof, ABS, largest trunk in its class (all mid-size sedans incl. luxury).

Not that Great

Driven many Camry's and this one is no different. Terrible exterior styling. Mushy Brakes and Steering. Great Headroom, strange dash. Poor choice of materials on the doors(felt?) This is a Toyota Buick. This one stalled many times. ONe word SOUL, this car has none. After getting back from our trip driving this car. My 1995 Buick Riv was so nice, better power, ride, style, brakes, handling, everything.

Camry beats all others

No my Camry is not exciting to drive or very fast. It is however VERY reliable. I have owned 4 Camrys and am able to put 200,000 on each one with no major problems. My present Camry I bought used with 80,000 miles I now have 203,000 miles and only replaced the gas cap!!! Do not be tempted to the dark side (Ford, Dodge or Chevy) Toyota has best build quality. The 2003 model gets an honest 33 miles per gallon. Mixed driving (500 miles to a tank).

Best Decision

I test drove more cars than I would care to admit, coupes, sedans, SUVs. I thought I had my heart set on an SUV but didn't find anything nice in my price range. Then I saw the Camry XLE on the showroom while looking at the Highlander, and asked to drive it. That was it! I fell in love with it and bought it after shopping the dealers.

Performance and comfort

The Camry is a comfortable vehicle to drive. My wife is short but likes to drive it and has no concern about its performance or maintenance. I also use this car on various occasions and find it is comfortable. It handles well in all driving circumstances and is a reliable vehicle.
