Buy 2 for the price of one Lexus SC430
We have had this since late March, 2004. We purchased it after thinking about a Lexus SC430 or Mercedes CLK320. Decision became quite easy after the 65K+ sticker shock of both of those. Having two Benz' now, I can assure you this isn't a Benz, but 85% for 50% of the cost. Very enjoyable, smooth riding and the quietest engine of any car we've ever had. Can't go wrong for 30K, that's for sure. Although I list a number of improvements, I'm looking at that through MB eyes. This things a buy folks.
ramblers of russellville, ohio
We have had this car for 6 weeks or so and it is great!!Red and hot!!
Florida Solara
This is the best new car I ever purchased. Not one problem with the car over the first 4000 miles. It rides better than the Accord at a better price. If you are looking for a fun coupe, the Solara is it. Toyota did a great job on the re-design.
Motor Happy
Traded my 95 Celica. Very satisfied with Solara's ride and comfort.
Convertible Solara - Great buy!
I had been searching for a convertible for the last two years. After much research, the Solara became the best for my money. Fantastic looking car, great fuel economy, rides smooth, and I just love it! You can compare this car with many of the more costly ones, and you will find that you can spend the money for this fabulous car, and think you are in the Lexus. It was a hard car to find, and people will stop me just to ask what kind of car it is. It is a head turner, and yet you can feel assured you didn't get gouged for riding such beautiful car. I purchased the Artic Frost.
Not much to complain about
Purchased the first convertible available at the dealership after finally seeing it in Chicago. Couldn't be happier with it. My first convertible, and in comparison with others I have seen/driven, a wonderful ride, with minimal shakes. Many wonderful comments recieved on the styling of the car, in addition to all the looks out on the road.
READ - Serious Alignment Problems
Pretty good value but far too many problems on delivery. Tried 2 different dealers for warrantee repairs but couldn't get ANYTHING fixed. These cars have a sub-standard suspension. Many Camrys & Solaras pull to the left and it cannot be fixed. Before buying, take any comparable car for a ride and compare the cornering and then let go of the wheel on a straight road. It will probably pull to the left. Lots of discussion about the problem in Web forums. Search on 'Toyota Owners Club' Executive cars - alignment problems.
Perfect if u want a "luxury+sporty car"
My first car after i graduate (drove a 88 volvo, but that dosent count). Compared it with Celica, Acura RSX, Accord coupe but Solara was the best you can offer for the price. The main features i wanted in a car were: Good looks and Smooth drive without being deprived of "standard" stuff, like on-steering controls, everything automatic, etc. Its everything of a luxury car that a coupe can offer.
Great Buy
I love this ar, great ride, comfortale environment, great interior design. The only problem I have is I should have bought the V6 engine instead.
quiet and smooth
The 4 cyclinder is responsive and quite powerful at high speeds when passing. While not as fast as the V6 the fuel economy is about a third better. Handling in the corners is great. Even at high speeds (80 mph +) the ride is very quiet and smooth.
RonCornel
My 2004 Solara is fun to drive and handles quite well. The new exterior design is outstanding and is what attracted me to it.
Sublime Car
Just owned the car for 2 weeks. Compared with ES330 and thought would buy ES but finally bought Solara SLE V6 with Nav. The ride feel is very much like ES but has no transmission issues reported by ES owners. Engine is the same as the ES. When comparing with Camry XLE V6, one can immediately tell the difference. XLE does not have the luxury ride feel as the SLE does. Plus SLE is a 2-year newer design with audio control buttons on the steering wheel, compared with ES and XLE.
2004 Toyota Camry Solara
I purchased a black Solara SLE V6 Coupe a few weeks ago. Took it to the dealership today to check and fix the alignment. It seemed to pull to the left pretty bad. Just got home and test drove it.....it seems completely fixed. Other than that problem, upon purchasing the vehicle, there were some chips and blemishes in the paint(Of course with black you can see everything). Am planning on taking it back to the dealership to have it fixed. Other than that I simply love driving my Solara and the inside and stereo system is awesome!!!!!!!!
This car is my baby
Where do I start... I loooove this car. My family gets mad at me because I won't let anyone else drive it, and I am very finicky where I park it, how close people get to me on the road, how close people park to me, etc. Yes, I am obsessive. haha. What's not to like? It is a hot looking car, smooooth riding, reliable, dependable, well-built, great horsepower (I have the v6 engine), and feels like luxury. I love the color I chose, cosmic blue metallic. I have only seen a handful of them out there. This is my first Toyota but it certainly will not be my last.
Solara
Great car and handling, excellent mileage, nice styling and quality, seems to have the same v-6 engine as the 330 Lexus.
Unbelievable
Recently purchased. Excellent ride and comfort on 1000 mile highway trip. 4 cyl had plenty of power for 80-85 mph cruising and passing. Unbelievably quiet at highway speeds. 33+ mpg is hard to beat
Solara stylish and fun to drive!
The Solara is absolutely the perfect car for me! I was first attracted to the stylish exterior, but was also pleased with the way this car handles, and the comfortable interior. Toyota really came up with a great car!!
Solara Review
I fell in love with this car the moment I sat in it. It has a beautiful interior. I love the sportyiness of the car itself. I was looking for a sportier car away from a Camry and the Solara hit the spot.
Lovin' It
I could not be happier with my new Solara. The drive is incredibly smooth and quiet. The interior is fancy looking. The exterior is fancy as well.I had to choose between this and the Honda Accord and I chose the Solara because it drove so much better.
Awsome Car!
I love this car! It is my first car and it is so cool! It is really nice to drive and looks great! Everyone loves it too and I get all kinds of compliments! I would highly recomend it!
The question.
Whenever I get into my new solara, I ask the question, do I put the top down. Unless it is raining, my answer is always yes.
5 Years 105,000 Miles - Still Love It
Eight cars to date, this is the first car I've owned where I put more that 50,000 miles on it. This is my second Toyota. Hasn't had any problems, engine is still quiet and smooth, and parts still fit together like they were new. Mileage has gone down some, from 30 to 28 MPG - still excellent for me. Was not looking for a sport car, just a sporty look, so the performance (or lack thereof) isn't important to me. I never thought I would have a car this long, and I am in no hurry to buy another.
crb-mom new solara
We just this past week took delivery of this vehicle. Thus far, we feel we will gain incredible enjoyment fromt this unit. So far, so good and we feel this will not away.
Great car and reasonably prices
All that you'd expect from Toyota in terms of quality. You feel like you're in a Lexus when you deck this thing out with all the options like navigation, etc. V-6 is strong through most used RPM ranges
Excellent
I have had my Solara for two months and love it!
incredible vehicle
Fun to drive. Exceeded my expectations. Rides like a lexus.
Almost a Lexus
If you're tempted by a Lexus but don't care to spend the extra 10-12K, try the Solara. Don't let the "Camry" moniker fool you. The Solara's look makes it appear far different from the Camry, and the fit, finish and performance are as smooth, quiet and luxurious as upscale nameplates asking half again as much.
What a Relief
Many hours of research and planning went into the acquisition of this vehicle. I looked at the Altima 3.5 SE, Accord EX V-6, and the Mazda 6. This was my conclusion: The Altima is not a very exciting vehicle to look at. It performs well, and thats it. The Accord is plain, and is missing key areas such as a select shift and a quieter ride The Mazda is a Ford. Based on my initial experience with this marvel of modern automotive genius, I have experienced its power, quality, and thoughtful features. This vehicle is almost as perfect as you can get to a 4 wheel Beyonce Knowles. Perfect is an understatement .
Proud to drive my solara
I have been driving for 35 years and depend on the cars I drive like my own house. If I hear any noise from the car I am using I get nervous.I own Camry SLE 1998 and just trade that in for a new Solara 2004 I am so proud that I took the car.I am so happy for the good performance.Next car will be Solara SLE.
Fun Car to Drive
Wonderful car! First converticvle since a Fiat Spyder nearly 10 years ago ... this one "feels" solid and muscular. Also glad to have Toyota quality and reputation. Drove it off lot not knowing mileage and have been EXTREMELY happy with > 30 mpg. Would buy this car again and wish I had done so sooner!
Lotta car for the money, very satisfied!
Very happy with car, but disappointed to find minor fit and finish issue with rear bumper. Dealer is fixing. Even so, this car is all about quality. Not as strong as '01 Maxima SE I traded, but still plenty of power and the SLE is quicker off the line. Transmission shifting is smooth. Interior is plenty roomy. Rear seats awkward to access & wouldn't want to use on a daily basis, but are spacious. Huge trunk, even larger than the Maxima. Ride is "luxurious", but car still keeps a sporty feel. Feels like it was built to cruise at 80 mph. SLE is a great compromise between power and comfort with 24 mpg around town on regular gas.
No Regrets
We have only had the car a week, but I can say this is the best choice we made. We had narrowed our field down to this car or the Accord. Solara won due to it being very quite on the hwy and it seemed to be a little quicker off the line. Toyota has a winner here, if only the other manufacturers can bring their products up to this level.
A few things to consider
In Toyota's infinite wisdom, they have preprogrammed the maintenance light to come on and stay ON at certain mileage points. You must have it reset by your dealership despite the fact you may have just changed the oil. I only have 5,000 miles on this car and changed the oil at 3,000 miles. It feels very manipulative.
New Solara No V6 Necessary
Well, Toyota does it again. The new Solara is a wonderful new car. I opted out of my brothers GM Retiree Discount to buy one. The new 4 cylinder is excellent as perfforms better than the 04 8.8 V6 in the Impala I was trying and on at least 25% less gas. Realizing it is a new model there may be a few quirks down the road but so far so great. Now have 500 miles on it from original 12. First tank of gas came in at 28.1 mpg overall. What else can I say.
Awsum Toyota Sulara
The day my wife and I set out to look for a new car, we were looking for a new crysler. we have a 90" dynasty and had fair luck with it. but we were looking for style and something to have for 200,ooo. mls or more! we saw the sulara and took it for a drive. this is the car for us. the car has a nice feel and lots of power and cool style.
my 2000 Solara
I have had a Solara for the past three years and I LOVE it. When it comes time again for another car I will be purchasing another Solara.
one good car
nice car dependable, solid build, even the entry vehicle is loaded, and i got it at a great price
Good but not Great
Overall, it's a good car. It seems to appeal to the older crowd from what I noticed. Not very exciting to drive and it doesn't turn heads. TV tends to make it look more exciting than it really is. Gets pricey when fully loaded. None the less, it's a good car. One major problem on my car. The sunroof binds and makes horrible noises. This is not at all what you'd expect from a Toyota! I've made 4 visits (going on 5)to the Dealership over the last 6 months to have this problem fixed. The frequent visits are mostly due to an incompetent dealership. Very dissapointing. I've gotten to know the Courtesy Driver very well. That can't be a good thing?
LOVE MY SOLARA!
THIS CAR IS LIKE STEPPING INTO A FANCY AND CLASSY HOTEL-IT IS QUIET, SLEEK AND SPORTY. WENT TO BUY A RAV4 AND WALKED AROUND THE LOT TO LOOK AT OTHER VEHICLES AND TEST DROVE EVERYTHING. THIS WAS THE LAST SOLARA AND I SAT IN IT AND IMMEDIATELY KNEW THAT I WOULD BE TAKING IT HOME. DROVE IT UP TO THE DEALER DOOR AND TOLD THEM TO WRITE IT UP. I LOVE MY TOYOTA SOLARA!!!!!!!!!!!!
Solid
Have had the car about a month. Well done...sporty and stylish...looks much better than the regular Camry's. Only two things we've noticed so far are: 1- a bit of hesitation when you accelerate, and 2- Gear shift seems to be getting rough when moving from Park to Reverse...we'll have to wait and see if worsens. Overall, very satisfied and feel like we've bought something reliable and sporty
2004 is a winner
I had a 2000 Solara prior to my SLE 2004. The improvements in design, both performance wise, and styling wise are amazing. I too feel a slight pull to the left, but nothing too major. I am impressed with the comfort inside. It handles well and is a true joy to drive. It has smooth quiet acceleration and is getting great gas mileage. I have never enjoyed a car I have owned more.
A great value
The car is what I expected. Great fuel economy in a larger car. (32+ MPG on regular) My dealer really tries to be perfect. I paid 18,700 and for that price I feel I have a great value.
Beautiful car!
This is a beautiful car, outstanding quality, beautiful interior, and quiet as a kitten. The JBL sound system is superb. It handles beautifully and is a blast to drive. Many have asked if it were a Lexus. All things considered, it's the best car I have ever owned.
2004 Solara is hot
Just bought this car 2 days ago and love it.
Finally
I finally bought a new car, and wow. I love this car. I have been told that Toyota made a mistake and should have put this car in the Lexus lineup. I must say I agree.
Riding on Reliability and Style
I have always had a two-sitter and this car blows me away with is space. I also love it's interior look and comfort. And the best part is knowing how reliable it is.
Perfectly refined non-sports car.
Bought my Solara as a Certified Used Vehicle. Upgraded to full-coverage 100,000-mile warranty for cheap! It has been a dream so far. It is the perfect combination of class, refinement, sportiness, and luxury. Considered Accord Coupe, but the Accord's ride is harsh and the interior unrefined. The Solara's handling and performance are far better than expected for such a large, smooth car. It's not intended to be a sportscar. It is, however, a great year-round vehicle to please even a car enthusiast when the true sportscars are in the garage.
GREAT CAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just bought my Solara and I love it! It is a fun car to drive for the price. I was amazed at the quality of the vehicle. I have owned many Toyotas and this is the most well made car for the price!
