Unfortunately at the time I am writing this review my Toyota is at the dealer for repairs. I had it 60 days with absolutely no trouble at all. Its an eye catcher, very reliable and great to drive. However, recently the check engine light came on,the temperture guage stop working and the car failed to start. It also pulls to the left as a previous reviewer had mentioned,BUT its still awesome to me. I still recommend it. The acceleration was what sold me. My car is all black.

I just recently purchased the Solara Sport SE V6, and i think it is a great car. It handles well, and doesn't sacrifice ride quality, as tends to happen with sport suspension packages. The price is right too, you get a great car for your money.

We did a research on Midsize sedan for close to two years and we finally decided to get a Camry XLE V6. Went to the dealer, test drove an '04 Camry SE V6, an '03 Camry XLE V6 and during negotiation we saw the '04 Solara at the first time (in the dealer hall). We were mesmerized and immediately made an emotional decision, test drove it and bought it instead of the "grandpa" camry. It was a good deal too, SLE V6 fully loaded (non-nav) only $26,000 (1.5% above invoice). It was a steal! It was a showstopper too since everybody in the dealer watch as the car made its way out of the hallway. Salesman was very polite and not pushy at all (unlike next door Honda dealer).

The Solara is pretty big for a sports coupe. I like it because of its roomy interior for the driver and passenger, but it is a little tight for people in the back. Make sure your friends are 5'10" or shorter. Nice acceleration for a V4 and gas mileage is good. The design is comparable to a Lexus 430 (which I would have bought if I had the money); the big difference is that the Solara uses a platinum-color plastic mold, whereas the SC430 uses an wood accents on almost everything.

Owning a Solara SLE is like driving a dream car! This is so close to having a Lexus, you can taste it. It was love at first sight, & it's great having one of the first ones in Omaha. I used to draw cars as a teenager, so can appreciate the curvaceous lines of this sculptural work of art. The interior is glamorous, sleek, and invitingly perfect! Driving the automatic with the upshifting/downshifting capabilities is just so much fun, especially in city stop & go traffic. It makes me feel like a kid again! I LOVE THIS CAR!!!

From the beginning, the car pulled to the left. Toyota does not know how to fix. Also, Tire Gauge light does not turn off. Toyota does not know how to fix. Been in the dealer more than I've driven it. It's a shame because it's a beautiful car. I've gotten lots of complements on it. Unfortunately, the dealer has not been very helpful. Instituted the Lemon Law. :(

I purchased a Solara when they first came out in March 1999. It was my first car purchase and I have loved it ever since. I have had no major issue with the vehicle. I am purchasing a 2004 Solara and will really miss my 1999. It still runs like it was a new vehicle. This car is simply one of the best on the road, for the money.

I had first driven a 2002 solara... and immediately fell in love with it. That was when i decided to get a solara as my first car. But in 2004, when i started looking for cars, i did not want to get the Solara, only because of the 2002's looks... this changed as soon as i saw the new 2004 solara.. i went for a test drive and did not waste any time getting it!! Its been almost an year, and it is a great car... no problems at all. All my friends now envy my Solara. Its got great interiors, and a great performance.. specially the V6. I would strongly recommend the Solara.

We bought a 2004 Solara V6. It started pulling to the left the very next day. We had to try hard to keep it straight. We took it back for an alignment but then found out that many consumers are facing the same problem with 2004 Solara and Camry. Toyota has been unable to fix the problem. It is unsafe to drive this car, especially on highways.

SLE V6 w/DVD nav.The build quality is unparalleled. The car is just solid, smooth, refined to incredibly high standards. The interior feels comfortable and stylish, all controls are intuitive and in the right place. Sounds like a 325i when you punch it. Took it on a four day road trip the fist day I got the keys. Exterior is stylish, but not dated. A truly worthwhile machine.

I compared all the convertibles in the $22000 to $45000 catagory. I found the Toyota Solara Camry Convertible SE to be the best value for the money. The car has very low noise for a convertible with the top up, great fuel economy, plenty of power and it handles great on wet roads and curves. The car is not easily found. Very few Toyota dealerships have them in stock. There are so few of them on the road, when people see it, they don't know what it is. So far, I love my Solara!

Fun to drive. I had a Red Flame metalic 99' Solara and had such good luck with it I bought another! This one is Arctic Frost Pearl with grey leather. Looks good in day or night. I have 1000 miles on it now with only 1 problem that the dealer fixed, a hose connector had come undone and caused the engine light to come on. Really like the in dash CD changer and heated seats

The V6 Solara SLE handles like a dream. This car is very sporty and powerful. I found that my car gets great gas mileage, however, filling it up intitially isn't cheap because the car has an 18 gallon tank. But, it is well worth it because you can ride forever once you fill it up. Everything in the car is driver friendly. The radio/cd controls are placed within easy reach of the driver and the stereo system is nice. Also, although the Solara is a 2 door car, don't be fooled because it has a full backseat that can accomodate 3 average size adults.

A much better design than my 1999 Solara. Bigger engine with a stiffer suspension. My 99, although it handled great was a littly spongy around corners. The new 04 really hugs the road. It's a real trip to drive, and the dark blue metalic paint and super styling really turn heads where ever I go. Luxury car quality at an affordable price.

I really love my Solara! I got 36 MPG on a recent trip and get 30 MPG in the city. It has plenty of power with just the four cylinder engine. At my age, I needed comfort, but I still like a two door. The Solara had everything I needed in a car. Stylish and great looking! The gas milage was a real bonus. The salesman told me "no way". So I checked the milage manually and I was getting 31.4 in the city. Maybe it is because my other car is a Prius and I have learned to drive sensibly.....I highly recommend this car!

After having this 5M 2dr SE sport for 18 months, I found the combination of its fuel efficiency and power was just ideal. This is my 15th car and I am pretty happy with 33-34 mpg on highway and acceleration after 40 mph. It runs like >200 HP on highway with a regular 2.4L 4-cyl engine. I had no problem since I got in Feb 2004.

I was considering the two door Accord until I saw and drove the Solara. Standard features on the SE Sport far exceed those on the Accord. Daytime running lights, larger brakes and fuel tank, more head, leg and hip room than Accord. Anti-theft system is optional but found on most models. 17" alloy wheels with tire pressure monitor are standard on Sport models. (Read the manual on resetting the pressure monitor!) The sequential shift automatic 5 speed transmission is an excellent compromise for guys whose wives prefer an automatic. The Toyota warranty is 5 years, with *everything* covered the first year. Honda includes a 3 year warranty.

Traded a 1999 SLE and a 1990 Supra . It is the closest we could get to a well designed, quality coupe with some of the Supra atributes. At 2000 miles all have been verry good. Features we miss, the coin bin or holder, the viser extensions and standard mud flaps, built as part of the body, not the cheep ones also the center brake light in the spoiler. The spoiler that you have to take with the 2004 is a real design joke, it cheepens the car. Over all we are very happy with it. Hoping that the US built one is as good as the Canadan built one.

I absolutely love this car. Mechanically the best car ever driven off the lot. Handles terrificly. Has an amazingly small turning radius. Standard stereo has great sound, deep full bass, no car vibrations when you crank it up. Automatic transmission shifter a bit confusing to get into proper position. Standard gauges include trip odometer, your average mpg, you real time mpg,and how long in miles before you need to fill up.

I purchased my Solara about a month ago and I absolutely love it! I've had 3 Toyota vehicles in the past so I knew I would buy another, and I haven't been disappointed! This is an attractive car and it drives even better. I love the power of the V6 and found it was good on gas. The interior is really comfortable and spacious and the radio sounds excellent too. I purchased mine in red in the SE sport trim and have gotten so many compliments on what I'm driving! So if you're looking for a car that's affordable and want to look good driving it go with the Solara, I feel you'll be just as pleased as I am.

Pretty good value but far too many problems on delivery. Tried 2 different dealers for warrantee repairs but couldn't get ANYTHING fixed. These cars have a sub-standard suspension. Many Camrys & Solaras pull to the left and it cannot be fixed. Before buying, take any comparable car for a ride and compare the cornering and then let go of the wheel on a straight road. It will probably pull to the left. Lots of discussion about the problem in Web forums. Search on 'Toyota Owners Club' Executive cars - alignment problems.
