My 4Runner

I chose the 4Runner over the Explorer and the Pilot. The 4Runner had a smoother ride and felt to me that I was sitting higher and had more of a command of the road. The leather seats are much softer and more comfortable than the ones in the Pilot and Explorer. The 4Runner has lots of power, great options and is fun to drive. I wish it were American made- this is my first non-American made vehicle and that fact still bothers me a bit. But hands down, it was the best of everything I looked at and I looked and researched for months before making my decision.

What an amazing SUV. I'm surprised at how Toyota went ahead and perfected even more an SUV that was already one of the most reliable ones in the market today. It's even better, stronger more dependable and comfortable and best looks outhere. You know you're in a big SUV.Excellent handling the controls are so smartly layed out you dont have to look around much to figure them out, especially the A/C it's all very simple to adjust and operate, I enjoyed the information panel where you can see outside temperature and miles to empty displayed and the light orange color dashboard is appealing and soothing to the eye. Way to go Toyota.

Best Vehicle I've Owned

This was the first Toyota I've owned. This vehicle has completely sold me on Toyota build quality and mechanical reliability. 62K on it now and we've never experienced a mechanical problem. The 6 is plenty powerful (23 mpg) and the thing rides as comfortably as a car. Fun to drive? I wouldn't go that far, but it is very comfortable. The quality of the interior materials is first-rate. I'm not fond of the exterior styling and the paint on our 4Runner has been poor from day one. This surprised me, considering the quality workmanship elsewhere.

Impressed with quality and amenities

I love my new 4Runner! I compared all mid-sized SUVs out there and the only one I liked better was the Lexus RX 400, which was hard to find used and too expensive brand new. I bought one with a V8 and still am not sure if that was a wise decision or not. Handles on the paved road awesome and even better off the road. I havent really tested it in serious offroad conditions yet but definitely plan to. I love the little extra amenities like the 115V plug-in, digital readouts for MPG and fuel distance calculations, and the rear audio remote and readout. I debated between the Limited and the Sport and then realized the only diff was leather seats and some options.

What else would you buy?

Our 4Runner LTD has been fantastic. Extremely comfortable and reliable. We change the oil and put gas in it; nothing else. Toyota reliability is reason enough to own this car. The V6 has plenty of power. Off-road and in rough conditions, this vehicle has not let us down. We average 20 mi/ga...pretty decent for an SUV that is driven hard. Relative to a Cherokee, the 4runner flat out is better in corners, accelerating, and overall handling. As for luxury, our other vehicle is a new BMW and I feel more comfortable in the 4runner. We use the cargo space so often. Buying large objects (e.g.furniture). Our lab loves the back, tonnes of carrying space, and moves 4 people on long trips.
