2026 Tesla Model Y Consumer Reviews

Liked the car but it had a fatal flaw
This new Y dual motor was the 3rd Tesla in the family. Obviously, I knew and liked the brand. HOWEVER, this one had "new type" but faulty exterior camers which intermittently shut down. When that happened, the dash screen went blank and it was impossible to see behind the car. Forget about backing up unless you want to risk a collision or hitting a pedestrian. Tesla's service (euphemism) did not distinguish itself by, first, insisting I simply drive the car as is till they could engineer a fix by way of "update." When I refused, they--eventually--bought it back.

Deceptively Interior Space
Looking at this small SUV from the outside, its hard to believe it being roomy inside until you sit in it. Being a 60 something, 6 foot tall driver, no physical restrictions, I was getting tired of climbing in and out of my sedan and really was looking forward to graduating to something a little higher off the ground without the usual antics getting in and out of a car. A by chance test drive of this Y had me sold in literally 30 minutes. Slid right into the seat, amazed at the headroom. The acceleration off a dead start is nothing short of amazing, as is the sustained, quick ramp up to cruising speed. Sleeky good looking SUV, ample front and rear passenger space for 5 passengers, roomy hatchback trunk with a frunk to boot. A barebone front dash with just a control monitor takes some getting used to but you get used to it. Haven't rolled into a gas station in a year, charge at home and super charge on the road. Knocked one star off for the trunk fitment which need an adjustment. It was fine for awhile but seems to have regressed, not a biggie but build quality in this regard could be better. Other than that, reliable thus far and oh forgot to mention, the maintenance is next to none, just a tire rotation and air filter change.

I will drive my model Y till I die!
I have taken three road trips to SF, one to Stockton and six road trips to San Diego. I love the fact that there are Tesla V3 superchargers located on the I5 at Tejon Outlets, Harris Ranch Resort(100 V3 chargers) plus great steak served at Harris Ranch and the Hilton Hotel in Stockton with V3 chargers in hotel parking lot. My only complaint aboutthe casinos in San Diego County such as Pechanga, Pala and Harrahs is they use the Blink or EZ charge EV chargers that are second rate to a Tesla V3 supercharger. In fact when I go to Pechanga I will fully charge at the 76 station with Tesla Superchargers then use the EV chargers at the casino. I have 9,936 miles on my Tesla Model Y It is a pleasure to drive on long road trips. Just had the tires rotated on monday July 8th by s Tesla service tech at my home.

The Real Deal
Coming for a 2020 Model Y, the improvements are dramatic and immediately noticeable. The suspension improvements, improved fit and finish, reduced interior noise, and faster computer lead to a more enjoyable/comfortable/quiet ride/improved driver assistance functionality. My family did not enjoy road trips in the 2020, but now they request to take the 2026 (Juniper) Model Y. The driver assist hardware/software in the 2026 is also a dramatic improvement from the 2020 and we are now subscribing to FSD monthly. The interior LED lighting, powered rear seats, and cooled front seats add to the "luxury" interior experience. The only enhancements I would like added would be 360 overhead camera view, massaging front seats, cooled rear seats, brighter/larger BSM indicator, steer by wire, and bidirectional power capability. All in all, the 2026 Juniper Tesla Model Y its the best bang for the buck in the SUV category and impressive to see the level of improvements in 5 years in the Model Y. Owners of the 2020-2025 Model Y should test drive the Juniper 2026 and you will quickly see/feel/hear the improvements. The 2020 Model Y was a good SUV but the 2026 Model Y is a great SUV.

Been eyeing the Tesla Model Y... Finally bought it
I have been considering buying a Tesla for a couple years now and finally took the leap and purchased a Model Y. For me, doing mostly local driving with a few trips here and there over 100 miles, decided to go with the RWD + FSD. First off, the car looks and drives great! Quick enough, quiet, comfortable, all-in-all extremely happy. The purchase process through the app was simple, and only had to sign a couple papers when I showed up to take delivery the next day. I also decided to try out Tesla Insurance which is fun to kind of watch your safety score change and actually ended up being cheaper than my equivalent policy with Progressive that I have had for many many years. I personally like the minimalistic interior with one central screen. The ONLY con I would have to say is the wood trim, just kind of feels out of place. I did delete all the wood with aftermarket carbon fiber so looks much better. If this experience holds out for the next 3 years or so and the resale value holds, I could see myself continuing to buy Tesla's.
