Love this family car 4 life!

The Model X is roomy; In a 5-seater we can have two Midsized dogs in boxes in the trunk; two teenager in the back and everyones stuff for a winter vacation. Its SO great for trips. The car is fun, space-age and only slightly more expensive then the S. The falcon doors are special, but we like them; you get to know automatically when they are extremely practical compared to normal doors and when they are not. We’ve had no serious repairs over the 15 months we’ve had it: Wind noise from a door, a sensor that dropped off; all fixed fast and with a free loaner car to try. Only issue i would say is the paint; wrap if you care for this.

Best car I have ever owned!

I have had this car for about two months. I have a 2020 Model X Long Range Plus. On a full charge I get 351 miles of range, which is phenomenal! I recommend getting the 20in rims, because they give a softer more luxurious ride, and they give better range than the 22in wheels. It is a very good car for long road trips. After driving it, charging up is not as much of a burden as I thought it would be. I highly recommend The Tesla Model X. 5 stars.

Most Amazing Vehicle On The Road Today

We have new 2020 Model X, after owning BMW's and Cadillac's in the past and can honestly say we love where the future is heading. The autonomous driving is a game changer. Wish Tesla would sell this tech so that roadways could be safer everywhere. Biggest things to love: - Acceleration - Grounded - all weight underneath - Free supercharging for life (roadtrip!?) - All premium features including towing are now included no extra cost - Real world range holds up (even in the cold once battery thermalizes) - Infotainment (watching Netflix/Hulu/Youtube while charging with luxury speaker surround) - Constant updates and upgrades for no cost - Most comfortable front seats I've ridden in on long drives Opportunities - DC outlet in vehicle - Option 240V outlet (like the CyberTruck will have) - Update to the Model 3 / Y faster charging battery tech - Offer "Insane" upgrade to long range for a cost (unlock 30% more torque from same motors)

My worst car ever and I've had a Plymouth Van

TeslaGranny, 02/01/2021
2020 Tesla Model X Long Range Plus 4dr SUV AWD (electric DD)
55 of 65 people found this review helpful

I bought this car exactly one year ago and I have had one catastrophic failure, countless intermittent sensor failures, frequent pop up warnings about break outages, and the radio works occasionally. I can find myself driving down the road and will get a pop-up that says the sensoring isn't working and drive with caution, or that the brakes are not working well and to give myself extra stopping time. These can just pop up out of the blue. Because the car is actually a giant computer they will resolve with reboot - stop, turn it off, let it rest, and restart - however this isn't feasible on the freeway or in other driving situations. It is frightening to drive this car because I don't know when the alerts pop up if they are computer bugs or real issues. When I had the Electronic Fuse module failure pop-ups piled up on top of each other in a period of about one minute while I was driving to get my grandson. I was just able to get the car out of traffic before the entire system shut down and the car had to be towed. Upon getting towed to the Tesla service center I came to learn that there is no one there who contacts your or helps you. All information and communication come through the App. It was almost three days before the App said anything at all - and then it told me I'd hear something in 14 days! I finally managed to find a person who offered me Uber credits to use while the car was unavailable. This was not a viable option for a 62 year old who drives grandchildren during Covid. on day 6 they got me a loaner car and I got the car back on day 8. When you go to the service center to get the car the people working there know nothing about the cars. They read the same information off of the App that the customer sees. When you pick up a car at a dealer service department the service people can talk to you and tell what happened, what they did, and why. Not at Tesla. The radio works at will. The Tesla entertainment system always works with music but the car chooses to play the FM radio and the Sirius radio on a whim. At present it has been 3 days. There is no one at Tesla to speak to or to ask for help. Two times I have tried to schedule a service appointment just to speak to someone. The last time it took 3 weeks and then they texted me on the App. No people existed. At present I am waiting for 8 days to get the text message to ask my question. The car receives software updates about every 6-8 weeks. They send really important things like more backgammon game scenarios, revised arcade games, redesigned dash board and Tesla screen. Their giant computer is filled with bugs and glitches and they never send anything that would provide for a better, safer drive. Because of Covid I drive very little - so at one year the car has 3200 miles on it. I have had a lifetime of pop-up alerts and scares for 3200 miles. I have no confidence in this car and would never drive it more than about 25 miles from home. There are no service centers available if I get far from home, there is no spare tire, and there isn't anyone to contact or talk to if I have problems. The gull wing doors - while looking cool - are really difficult and cumbersome. They allow for much less access room in crowded spaces that regular swinging doors. It is practically impossible to get a baby seat out of the care when it is garaged - and the same for accessing the child seat on the other side. I have to stoop low at the waste to get into the vehicle. It gave a great test drive and was very impressive. For the fast pick-up and smooth ride it is a great car. But as a giant computer on wheels purchased from an App that has no human backup it is a terrible investment.

Good Car but Terrible terrible service

I leased Model X 2 month ago and suddenly one day driving back home it started showing sign to take it for service. When I called them they tried to do trouble shoot over the phone but guy could not figure out and asked me to take the car to their service center. My closest service center is Syosset, NY. When next day morning I planned to take the car I tried to call them so they can expect me and have a loaner for me ready. You can't get hold of anyone. It goes into circle press 1 -2-3 and back to zero. They want you to make appointment on the tesla app. I had already made one appointment on tesla app for my blue tooth repair few days ago as it was having echo and they were supposed to send me a mobile repair person to my house. Now the app does not have option to make 2 appointment. To make another you have to cancel the first. After spending an hour trying to get hold of someone in syosset service center I decided to just drive down without appointment. At that point I realized car is dead. It will not turn on. I called the emergency road service they send someone to get my car towed to service center. That place is depressing. There are only two people there who are busy talking to people who come in that's why they don't pick up the phone. I guess Tesla is over confident they won't have problem in their car so why to waste money on service centers. The guy finally took my info and tell me car will be here for few days for diagnostics, we don't have loaner car and will give you uber voucher. They send $300 uber voucher and told me that we will stay in touch with text. I was in shock. I am a Physician go to few different places in a day. I can't uber every where. Is there an option for renal car? NO!! Good Luck! I took my son's car and told him to use uber for his job. After 2 days I get a text form the guy who never even told me his name that car will take some time. It needs replacement of rear drive unit we have to order it I have sent you another Uber Voucher for $500. That was last text I have received from then. Two days alter uber voucher got canceled without any notification. I texted them but there is no response. No further notice what's happening with car. I gave them car on 08/06/20 and today is 08/14/20. Last heard from them was 08/09. No matter how good is the car what we need is a better service. I have always leased cars because we can't afford to wake up and the car is having problem. Sometimes I run to the ER in the night as well. We need a dependable car. I never spent more than an hour in Lexus, BMW, Audi service stations. There was always someone who will talk to you and keep things ready for you before you are there. Do we really have time for this crap?? What if you don't have another car can you take uber to go around, if you can then yes take this expensive car and ride uber. What if I am on a long drive and car is broken? They take forever to fix this non-sense system. This is a terrible buy if you depend on car. This is not a dependable car. Yes! it has nice features, self drive, electric car, good for fun but if it's not dependable car. I would prefer to return this car. I called there sales person and he is going to look into what's happening and get back to me because he is the only person I could get hold off to talk to. Tesla Cars have terrible service!! Stay away from this till they invest in their service. It's hit or miss system. Some have no problem and happy with it. But should we get this car depending on luck? Two of my friends who were excited to get this car after I got are thinking again and I doubt they will buy this car. Even after hearing all this you decided to get one don't forget to pray everyday that car don't give any problem

Cheap build for a 100k car. Parts glued with tapes

Received my car 4 days before the end of the year and boy, this feels like a lemon already. As soon as i got it, i was hearing metal scratching noises when I turn the steering wheel. Spend next 2 weeks trying to fix it with service. After the second visit, they managed to fix that issue. Right after that I noticed some trims are missing on the door. See left over double sided tapes where the trims supposed to be there. Scheduled another service call, which i had to for another 2 weeks and they got the wrong part and no tools. Rescheduled again for another attempt after 2 weeks. There are more problems with the functionality and listing them here would take forever. In short, the cars are made cheap and their service team is overwhelmed. Instead of paying more to Elon, they should spend more to improve quality and ensure better service. Imo

Biggest $ waste on a car in my life

Bought this for my wife. $125K so not a cheap investment. Top to bottom bad Doors inexplicantly close on your head, garage door closes on the car as you drive into garage, Wing doors rub against panels causing paint to chip, cruise control malfunctions and slams brakes on for no reason, auto drive has mistaken thruway overpass shadows as a solid wall causing the breaks to pump at 70 mph and so on and so on and so on. After 20,000 strenuous models, I traded it in and took a bath and bought a new Audi Q7 which is MILES ahead of Tesla in quality and conveniences.

Here is my list after 3 months of having the model x (in shop for two weeks, after only having in for three weeks) *Came with two broken wheel well plastic frames *Middle seats malfunctioned and had to be replaced *screen malfunctioned and chip had to be replaced Since we got it back from that service *Seats no longer respond to preset setting for each driver *passenger seatbelt tightens no mater the situation and does not release only keeps getting tighter to the point you are pinned to the seat. *Smart summons has only worked well 2 times *rubber around the window bent and creased *rubber looks unfinished on both front doors *driver side window rolls up and down very slowly and rubs the window on the way up, you can notice on the window we’re it’s rubbing *I have to manually connect my phone each time I get in because it no longer does it automatically even though it’s set to priority phone *Regenerative braking works whenever it wants to, never consistent *paid an extra $10,000 for self driving premium package, Full self driving capability. Every time we have used it it nearly crashed and definitely would if our hands were not on the wheel. It’s doesn’t gradually loose control it’s a jerk reaction. Each time we have tried it it jerked toward the divider on the highway. It speeds up when going to an off ramp for an exit. When highway has turns or curves doesn’t recognize to slow down. *back truck closed on me and doors don’t respond if a child is under it; only in front of it. Additional functionality annoyances. *middle seat do not reclin enough to feel like you are laying back *front console can not fit two coffee cups next to each other. I absolutely do not feel safe in this car. Looking into a refund.

Don’t buy a Tesla, they LIE

The car is ok, unless you have to drive out of town. The service is more than extremely poor. No one ever knows what is going on, no one ever follows up, and no one ever calls you back. EVER. I had to drive my car from Charleston to Savannah (2.5 hours each way) for service. When I bought the car I was promised it would be picked up by them and brought back. That’s a blatant lie. As if that wasn’t enough, with a full charge, my model X claims that I can drive it 370 miles. I’m getting 245. Another lie. Delivery Process was the worst ever.

Expect a few quirks, but in reality a way better experience then the 2 MB we had previously, especially since they require little to no service. Travelling from Ontario Canada to Disney in Florida in December was intimidating being new to electric, but the Tesla supercharger network is probably what makes it the best choice for travelling, we had a great trip, I would say i don’t miss the $700 service visits to Mercedes Benz, they hold there value we’ll, and not having to go to a gas station, ever, is the icing on the cake. It is 5 years old now and 180,000kms and still as good new.

Do not buy a tesla x. Tesla has the worst service of any car company on the market. And for the price of the x, it just isn't worth it. Delay after delay. They never meet the times they give you. They have cost me a lot of money. You can never get a hold of anyone on the phone. They aren't willing to accommodate you in any way. They will lie to your face. Go with another company.

I bought a Model X with a warranty from Tesla, warranty of course includes the battery. It is rated for 237 miles of range. Within four days of purchase, I noted I am getting 40 miles on it before it is at zero. The car is also losing 24 miles per day when it's not being driven. Published documents indicate you shouldn't lose more than 5-10/day. Their service support indicates it is completely normal and refuses to do anything about the battery - in fact they told me my car's battery is outperforming the average Model X. I don't understand how this is normal. How is it normal that the car only is able to do 1/6 of its rated range? The average american drives 18 miles to work - good luck making it home. It's misleading advertising and poor warranty support. I wish I wouldn't have bought the car. Buyer beware.

I had a problem while driving on a highway, my car just shut down, the screen went black and I lost Bluetooth and sound. I called Tesla to figure out why, they refused to help me unless I gave them my vin # Who in their right mind knows their vin #? No one. The agent hung up on me, refused to help, created a dangerous situation on the road by insisting that I look into my phone for a vin # while driving. I felt abused and abandoned. This new technology should be very concerned with their customers safety, but Tesla doesn't seem to be. I absolutely hate their customer service, their salesmanship and attitude towards their customers. It really does seem they don't give a crap if you are ok. It feels like they are training their employees to be aggressive to their customers. I had to drive with a black screen for miles not knowing if the car can just stop in the middle of a highway

The lack of service will kill Tesla. Purchased a new $98k model X . The day after deliver scheduled a service call on the Tesla app (can not actually call service) to get a vibration issue fixed. 5 follow up service calls (3 month later) and issue is not fixable according to 20 year old Genius service advisor. Needless to say the attorneys are working it out

We recently got our Model X delivered and from first week onwards it started having park brake failure issue. We got it towed twice and still Tesla is not able to fix the problem. They say it is a sensor issue, but have not given us any part number which was replaced. So after paying more than 100K for this car, it is sitting in the service center or our garage since we are scared to drive it because it can stall. There is absolutely no luxury aspect to this car. It keeps on making annoying squeaking noise as if the seats are not secured. Also, the new square fancy steering wheel is not not useful and hand keeps on slipping off from it. Control interface in general is very confusing and need 2+ click to do anything in the car. We are planning to sell the car.

While the competition from BMW, Audi and Mercedes is catching-up to the Model X, and probably surpassing it in some areas (like fit & finish), the Model X still sets the standard for a full-size electric SUV. 330+ mile range is excellent and the tech works very well. Interior is more spartan than luxurious, but has a nice airy feel and definitely a notch above the Model 3/Y. Ride & handling is good (especially with the air suspension), but not quite as plush as the Mercedes EQE or composed as the BMW iX. Features like the falcon-wing doors may seem gimmicky, but help set it apart along with self-driving. Performance of the Plaid in particular is simply astounding, and a bargain for what you get!

I really like this vehicle. All the little things, driver door opens for you, bell rings when light changes to green, AWD along with adjustable vehicle height works well in the snow, cameras show pertinent information, and it has almost instant acceleration. I just don't care for the actions of the CEO.

Great vehicle. Planning on purchasing another one after the lease on this one is up. We just replaced the tires on this vehicle in less than 3 years and only 18,000 miles. The Model X has 2 different size tires on the front and back. The factory Continental tires started to separate and pulled to the right. The tire dealer advised us that the Model X is so heavy and has so much torque that passenger car tires have not advanced enough to handle the load. Consequently we replaced all 4 tires because one rear tire was also separating. So if your considering purchasing a Model X you should also consider the cost of replacing the tires every 3 years or sooner at a cost of approximately $1600. Musk should hire engineers that can work with tire manufacturers that can develop a tire for this vehicle that can handle the excessive weight.

We bought a model X. No notification of delivery. We had to drop everything to run up there last minute on Memorial Day or they said we would lose my place in line after waiting 14 months. We just happened to look on the app the Thursday prior to the holiday weekend and it said to schedule our delivery. This was our first and only notification. Our only option for delivery was the following Monday, Tue or Wed.... So I delayed my trip to England, changed my tickets to go through ATL from our home in Florida and on Friday I worked out the financing of a 100k plus vehicle. We had previously done the financing, but the original scheduled delivery of October 2021 had long passed and the financing expired. In October, the delivery rolled to Nov, then in Nov to Dec etc. This happened every month until Sept of 2022! I landed on Monday, took the Metro to Decatur then an Uber to the dealer. Bought the car, drove to ATL, parked it at ATL and continued to England. Then when we returned, we had to fly through ATL and drive to Florida rather than direct to FL. The inside of the windshield was so filthy on the drive home, when we turned into the sun, visibility was almost zero. After we got it home, we could not add a key card. The app said it was a known error that Tesla would have a fix for soon... We tried to call but no answer. I sent the Decatur rep, Roberto Perez an email because my fiancé couldn't use the car and it was her car. He didn't reply. I sent two more emails requesting a call. Nothing... Car sat in the driveway. Finally I sent another email stating we are going to review this on every social media platform if we dont get a response. Tried to call a dozen times, unable to get anyone. Called Tesla and waited for 56 minutes on hold. They sent a message to the location manager and promised a return call within an hour…. Lol yeah right. Nothing. So here is the complaint which I guess I will copy and paste on every platform I can find while I am again sitting on hold. I strongly recommend waiting for Rivian or any other EV before purchasing a Tesla. Decatur also forgot to sign the purchase agreement and have us sign it. This, along with failing to send a picture of the window sticker, as instructed on the bank's draft check's instructions, caused the check to be canceled by the bank. The best part is: still no contact from the manager at Decatur as promised numerous times? How is he or she still employed by Tesla?? I will never forget this and have been telling our story every chance I get.

Tesla X 2022 is impressive. Interior is very impressive. Ride is smooth. The steering is very good and decent. Inside finishing is excellent. I had 2018 tesla and I replace it with new one. Compare to 2018, ride is smooth and interior is superior. Driving is excellent. Display screen is easy and you can move in three directions.

Amazing and clean. Self Driving is the Best. Never been in a crash. Gull wing doors are show stoppers. No other vehicles like this.

Fast, but not worth the price - Go elsewhere

I have had the 2023 Tesla X Plaid for 9 months, and am happy I leased it. It is NOT worth the $123,000 (now $110,000 as Telsa dropped the price). Pros 1.)Its very fast if that is your thing. You will use the launch mode once, cool but not worth the upgrade to Plaid 2.) Wing doors are just cool. 3.) Automated self closing doors are fun. 4.) Yolk steering wheel is actually quite nice. Cons 1.) Not that luxury, something you would expect from a car this priced. 2.) Button turn signal is just awful, almost a non starter. You have to take your eyes off the road to hit the right button 3.) Poor craftmanship. The car creeks/squeaks as it is not well put together. 4.) Customer service is terrible. At this price, I expect valet service, in NYC the service center locations are just a joke. It's a 1.5 hr round trip from Midtown and you have to do that twice (pickup/dropoff). 5.) The interface to show where the other cars are around you is in front of you. Buti it is terrible and there is no ability to put it onto the main screen. I wish you could opt for it to be on the center screen. There is no ability to customize the screens. Basically, this car is "fine" but we would have been just as happy with the Y series. For this price get a Range Rover, Escalade, or some other high end luxury car. This is NOT luxury. Can't wait for the end of my lease.

Very nice car, for some reason the 6 seater was more expensive than the 7th seat, which was all i need, so i sprung for the 7, did not impede functionality at all

For Apple music subscribers, Apple music has been integrated into Tesla Entertainment system. Model X acceleration is furiously responsive with good handling, feel much faster than my model 3 rear-wheel drive. The interior has useful wireless chargers, simplistic elegant design look, and comfortable seats. However, I wish Tesla added ambient light around the dashboard like 2024 model 3. It is interesting that the interior is very roomy inside, but the exterior does not even look big, great design work. Model X is great for driving long distance as it runs so smooth, quiet, spacious, and comfortable. I absolutely has no maintenance issue with my 2018 model 3, and I hope (cross my finger) my model X to be nearly as good (I heard some horror story from some reviewer). I did not even consider buying model X's competitors such as BMW/Mercedez/Hyundai because of the look; their exterior design is clumsy, not stylish and refined as Tesla cars. I know ... beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Tesla has drastically dropped the price of this vehicle since the end of 2023 to compete with other luxury vehicle brands EV, so I think it is a very good buy now if you consider Tesla.

Tesla is going to go out of business if they don't get the service figured out. The cars are completely unreliable, I've had mine in the service center 7 times in the last 18 months. The way they run the Tesla business is innovative and different but not in a good way. You can't talk to anyone, you think your car is going to be at service for maybe a day for them to have it sit around for sometimes over a week with no explanation. The X has a design flaw where the tires tow in because all the weight of the batteries and car that it wears the tires on the inside causing you to have to replace tires about every 10k miles.

Love this car, love the reliability, love the instrument simplicity, love the Air Conditioning efficiency, the fact that I can stay indoors confortable without danger, love the seats.. love the doors. this car is so much fun, 2.5 seconds to 60 MPH: a rocket! My solar panels always keep it fully charged.. dislike the horn button, the turn signal setup. Hate the Service.. no humans, Artificial intelligence all the way.. DYS ?

Seat belt adjustment

Just got my M.Y long Range and so far I love it, my only complaint is the seat belt adjustment even on the lowest it is still high keeps touching my neck, unless you are like six feet now matter how you adjust the seat it still rubs on your neck, I also wish I could open the passengers door without always having to open the driver side door to unlock the other doors.
