2024 Subaru Outback SUV Consumer Reviews

Touring XT
Replaced my 2016 limited 2.5i. It’s not perfect but it’s perfect for me. The turbo is a huge improvement. No regrets. My third Subaru.
I hate this car. Update: More reasons to hate it.
All items listed below, plus... Occasional non-recurring chimes with no explanation. When backing while looking over my shoulder, the car chimes. I take my eyes off the mirrors and rear, look at the screen, and it says, "Watch surroundings while backing," Also, have to be very precise on how you touch the screen. Sometimes it will beep but not change screens. Seems to be a delay in bringing up some screens. Some car washes I can't go through because the car senses the brushes as a hazard and applies brakes. Driver Monitoring System. Automatic shutoff. Automatic Rear Braking. Safe Driving Agreement. Wimpy engine. Driver Monitoring -- whenever I scratch/rub my eyes it chimes. Automatic Rear Braking creates a violent stop when I back out of my light-colored driveway onto the darker asphalt of the street. Engine sounds like a lawnmower when I accelerate from 45 mph to 65 mph on a gentle slope.

Luxury Ride at a Good Price
I chose the Outback because I needed some utility, but still wanted a car platform. I purchased the top model (Touring XT) for a price less than any other comparable SUV out there. The ride is what really sold me. It is very comfortable and soaks up bumps like a large luxury sedan. There is some minor wind noise at highway speeds. The interior is also top notch with quality materials throughout. I had been driving a 2011 Subaru Legacy (base model) which served me well (210,000 miles) and is now being used by my son. However, it lacked power so I wanted the turbo. What a difference! It drives effortlessly. There are plenty of other creature comforts you get with the Touring XT model that are well the money. My main concerns with the vehicle and relatively minor. First, it lacks storage space for small items up front. There really in no place to put items other than under the arm rest or the side door pockets. I miss the storage compartment I had in the center of my Legacy which is now occupied by a large touch screen and wireless charger. Which leads me to two other complaints. The infotainment system lags at times, is slow to start up, and the built-in navigation system rarely gets the voice command correct. Lucky I can use Apple Carplay. Likewise, the wireless charger simply does not work. No matter what you do, it takes an eternity to charge your phone and frequently shuts off because it gets too hot. I now use it for the minimal storage it provides and charge my phone using the port. The last nuisance is the auto stop-start system which jolts harshly each time it engages. You can shut it off, but you have to remember to do so each time you start the car.

Went from Crosstrek to Outback Wilderness
I had a 2023 Crosstrek. I loved that car. I had roughly 21,000 miles on it. I had stopped by Subaru just to look at the 2024 Outback Wilderness. I test drove it and that’s all it took. The turbo engine is excellent.. Great power. The ride is a lot nicer since being a bigger vehicle from the Crosstrek.. I like having heated seats in front and rear heated steering wheel. Air vents for the rear passenger.. The sound system is excellent. Great sound. The gas mileage at first was not what i expected but once i got about 3,000 miles and engine is broke in. I am getting what the windows sticker says and a little bit more.. Love my Subaru Outback Wilderness..

Engine hesitation was bad at every stop and go Sputtering. Haven’t even practiced on my computer control yet. It had about 20 miles on it and now it goes back to the dealer,,
