Better is not always good

2024 Subaru Outback Limited 4dr SUV AWD (2.5L 4cyl CVT)

My 2021 Outback I could make my 11.6 inch screen split showing two different thing on my Outback Limited but can not do it on the new 2024. Also the heating for the stearwheel light does not stay when you push the button it flashing yellow and then goes off. I think it should stay on until you press it off or after you turn the suv off.

2024 Subaru Outback Onyx Edition 4dr SUV AWD (2.5L 4cyl CVT)

I purchased a 2024 Subaru Outback Onyx a few weeks ago. So far I love it. I am coming from a turbo Ranger and I have no issues with the non turbo. Gets me around fine. I live in northern Wisconsin and the AWD is amazing. Harmon Kardon sounds great. Vehicle feels very solid. Suspension feels better than an Acura. I will be primarily using this for daily driving and my hiking and kayaking.

KNOWN ISSUES WITH INFOTAINMENT

Female left stranded , 08/07/2023

Had a 2019 Crosstrek and from day 1 told them there was an issue with connectivity. This was a constant battle with dealer AND SUBARU OF AMERICA! They did nothing to fix problem and left me stranded and frustrated in tears. It does not stay connected. It disconnects randomly all the time. Eyesight goes out randomly. I needed out of the car from the start and they didn't do it. When it came time to turn in, I was convinced a 2024 outback wouldn't have the issues. Went home, parked car for 3 days, tried driving it..and guess what? YEP IT STILL HAS ISSUES! I have been battling this all over again since 14 miles. I'm at 700. THEY DO NOTHING. Do your research..I found out they settled a lawsuit concerning this and it's not resolved. AND NOW DEALERSHIP HAS BANNED FROM COMING IN BECAUSE THEY WANT TO DODGE ADDRESSING THE ISSUE.. ZEIGLER

Replaced my 2016 limited 2.5i. It’s not perfect but it’s perfect for me. The turbo is a huge improvement. No regrets. My third Subaru.

Very good, if ugly choice

The ride quality of the Outback was the best of all the similar vehicles we tested. We would have liked the roof height to be a bit lower, and the roof rack would be much more useful for us if it were a standard type that accepts standard crossbars. The car has its quirks, to be sure, but that's to be expected with all the features crammed into the current crop of cars. Every system that car manufacturers add increases complexity and opens you up to future repair costs, so we were pleased that you could get a model above the base that had some useful features, while leaving most of the gimmicks off. The automatic lane navigation is worthless and should never have been included, as it is obviously not ready for deployment. I think professional automotive writers don't have the same perspective as the average person, as every review noted that the Outback's standard 2.5 liter, non-turbo engine is lethargic. If you drive at safe speeds on public roads. this is pure BS. The car has plenty of power. Neither is the CVT transmission the dog that the wags claimed--rather it's kind of nice to never have the transmission kick down when climbing hills with the cruise control engaged. We descend steep hills on dirt roads and appreciate the downshift feature. But, the real jaw dropper is that exterior cladding. What were they thinking? When you pay this much for something, you would like it to look good, but this car is like an ugly child--you hope you learn to love it, but you cringe a bit every time you look at it. I suspect that the designers were tasked to give the Outback a "rugged look" at the last facelift, and when they Googled "rugged," they came up with pictures of ex-prizefighters' faces. This car has a look that doesn't grow on you, and I can't even imagine why anyone would buy a light colored one, since the cladding is always black. Let's hope the pendulum swings back when they finally release the Gen 7s for 2026.
