Not worth the hype
Bought with 120k miles used, no accidents, and everything was great for the first year. As I got closer to 130k miles, everything started to go wrong. It has excessive oil consumption (about 1q every 1,000) miles, and is out of warranty to fix. The Bluetooth is clunky at best, faulty at worst. Engine often starts up rough and both my mechanic and the dealership can’t find the issue. The fan speed dial broke recently so it only blows on low or not at all. I keep up on all regular maintenance and oil changes, yet something new seems to go wrong every other month. It’s fun to drive, but not worth all of the inconveniences. I’ll likely go back to a VW or a Volvo next time around.

Still going strong
Currently at 108,000 miles with few major problems. The car has had several recalls but all performed at the dealership as needed. It has used almost a quart of oil per 1,000 miles but other than needing to constantly monitor that, it has been a very good car. It had a rather expensive ($1600.00) transmission problem that lit up all the instrument cluster lights. It has had wheel bearings replaced several times.

Reliable and Fun to Drive
I have owned my Subaru Impreza since I drove it off the lot in 2013. While I’ve had to replace the breaks, tires, and take it to the shop for body damage caused by the driver (me) I have otherwise had no problems. My Impreza is currently at 90k mile and the last 2 years all I have had to pay for was the oil change and inspection. It can be a sluggish when it comes to acceleration, and has quite a bit of road noise which makes it hard to have a conversation on the freeway via Bluetooth. But it handles so well and visibility is great so I feel like I can go anywhere safely while enjoying the view. To me that’s all that really matters in a car.

2013 Impreza eval
Outstanding car with great all-weather capability. Engine is a little weak at 150hp, especially with the AC running. Extremely reliable transportation with excellent safety features.

Excellent for it intended buyer
We bought this for for the following reason and so far it has been great at it. - Traction in the snow - Fuel economy - Cargo space - Safety rating - Reliability A lot of people seem to have reliability issue with the car, so far I've had no problem, I hope it will stay that way. It's has now been for years and we have no out of schedule maintenance expenses. It prowess in the snow even exceeded my expectation. With a set of Michelin winter tires, it feel like driving in the summer.
