I was in the market for a new car and couldn't be happier with my decision. Considered Accord Coup V6, Evo Ralliart, GTI, and Mazda 3. I was very impressed with the performance of the WRX. Quick acceleration and great handling!! The interior cabin is quite spacious considering it's a compact car. I was hoping for better gas mileage but that's due to a heavy foot! I'm avg 20 in town and about 28 highway.

Owned the car for 14 years. Purchased it new. Took good care of it and followed the maintenance schedule. Sold it at 103,000 miles with no real issues other then the exhaust rusting out and needing to be replaced (live in NYS with all the salt).

Amazing fun to drive car

I bought my 2011 Impreza Premium Hatchback 5-speed when it was 10 years old and with 82K miles from the original owner. Only routine maintenance items were ever needed according to carfax reports. The car has minor dings and scratches but runs great! Smooth, quiet and strong acceleration and braking. I specifically looked for this year/style for one year until I found it. Then sold my 20 year old Impreza 2.5RS for 50% more than I bought it for(@ 8 years old). Liked the RS so much I wanted newer version Impreza. The 2011 Impreza did not have the responsive handling as the2.5RS I like and found it did not even have a rear anti-sway bar installed. What sporty cars these days would not have that? So I added sway bars from an Impreza STI and installed Koni adjustable shock absorbers and the car now handles like a go-cart. No more body roll and NO understeer! I have not had any issues with the car as of yet other that the sun-roof stopped working. Disappointing, I will have to fix that come spring as I used it every day. The 2011 Impreza is also coming due for timing belt replace which I will also do in the spring. The car is very nice with regularly getting 27 MPG City (great) but only 30 highway (it could use a 6th gear manual to get more) The hatch back is very roomy and now I can put my mountain bike in the back without even taking a wheel off! The rest of the interior has a lot of cheap plastic but is easy to wipe clean and it is holding up well - just does not look or feel very nice. Also this car has one of the ugliest looking gauge clusters I've seen and they no longer even offer a coolant temp gauge - just a dumb blue light. I will be adding temp and oil pressure gauges too. The car is very fun to drive daily and when I get a chance for some twisty roads with performance summer tires. Then switch to winter wheels and snow tires to get the most of the all-wheel-drive - I can basically drive normal like the road is dry. This car is very smooth and quiet even on the highway and absorbs rough roads very well. Who wouldn't want something like this for a daily driver?

Wish for WRX Suspension

I have only had the car for a month but I am really enjoying it with one glaring exception. Turn in and body roll are real issues. My plain jane 09 Honda Civic handles much better and it has understeer! I wish Subaru would have used the WRX suspension on this model. Rallitek sway bars are on order.

I really do like the car, but there are issues

First the good: This car is a lot of fun when the snow starts to fly. Living in MN this was important to me. The all wheel drive in the WRX never disappoints. I run General's winter tire and if anything the grip is too good even with traction control turned off. The bad: In the first year two bearings failed (throw-out and transfer). For summer driving the suspension is too soft. The seats lack lateral support, you slide all over the place. The dead pedal is too small (size 10 shoe). Pedals are too close together and your knee will hit the steering column when left foot braking. Front fascia will crack very easily ($750 to fix). Paint chips easily. 5 speed shifter is very clunky.
