terrible car
i was expexcting so much more out of this car.bought it new in 2010. after about 3000 miles realized that i had no oil thought that was weird. but let it go happen again.so i took it to the dealership where i had bought the car and they said they had been getting a lot of these kind of complaints. So i sold that thing as soon as possible and got my self a wry and could not be happier. same car just much better all around except for gas milage. glad i sold that car
First Subaru purchase
I am so in love with this car! It handles so good, much better than any other car I test drove. I feel like I have gained an extra foot of viewing from the windshield, very well designed for the driver. My partner is 6'1" and has loads of headroom which is nice. Even the base model, which is what I went for, is loaded with feature like symmetrical AWD, power windows & locks, heated mirrors, and sport shift. It is a very safe car, I live in a climate with harsh winters and just days after I purchased it, we had a huge snowfall but my Impreza was a breeze to drive! Love this car, I will keep it for a very long time!
Excellent Car - Liking it more and more
This is my second update of our Impreza 2.5i sedan with auto. Car continues to impress with excellent reliability, sharp handling, and solid construction. Interior fabric is holding up better than expected (I mentioned previously that it may wear out fast) and the size is still just right for moving up to four people and some stuff. Stability on the freeway is outstanding even in cross winds and the engine power is mated very, very well to the auto trans. I really like the Silver color which matches nicely with the dark gray interior. Only complaint is the gas mileage which is dramatically different between city and freeway driving. Getting around 19- 20 in the city and nearly 30 on the fwy.
fun but too simplistic
bought used @ 130k driven to 190k had 0 issues besides and oil leak from a sensor which was a cheap fix. **** IF BUYING USED MAKE SURE TIMING BELT WAS DONE**** pros- fun, unstoppable awd, reliable cons - trans shifting, simple, no coolant temp sensor

Sweet ride!
I've had the car for six months now, and I love my car very much. 5 speed manual with all weather package. I get about 22 MPG on my daily commute to work. I can get between 25-32 MPG on long freeway drives. Living in sunny Southern California, the heat causes a unique experience within my Subaru. When it gets hot, the plastics of the interior give off a nauseating smell. The interior looks great to me. It's just that being plastic makes it not as good. The stereo is great. Those who complain about the stereo when using a MP3 player need to learn that AUX jacks means the volume is controlled on the device! Turn it up on the device and then it will sound fine through the stereo!!
Surprise Surprise
Just bought the imprezza yesterday (7- 19-10), drove it back home , and was really surprised the road manners , and just that it hauls, really like the feel of the interior. even for a standard imprezza , you get the boxer engine like a Porsche the infamous AWD of Subaru, had to steer the car from going off the road cause it just looks for its next conquest! Same price would have bought me a corolla , what fun is that? So glad I bought this awd inprezza which the awd is standard, acceleration very good, this car will be in our family for a long time, unlimited performance upgrades, that I can push the limits on the car, great rally inspired Subaru awd! . Thanks Subaru!
Value
This car is an excellent buy for the money. Overall value is excellent. Body design is main stream. All wheel drive system is unsurpassed. Drive train is adequate. Interior seating looks cheap, but it is very comfortable. Drivers side seat has a barber chair style manual crank up & down function that works beautifully. The radio is extremely sub-par, but the rest of this car is a class leader. If you compare features & cost, this is an unbeatable value.
2008 civic Si to 2010 WRX
Bought this car on a whim. An 828 credit score can do that to you. I was disappointed in my Si's power output and it's inability to shine even if throwing $2k in aftermarket parts at it, it can only gain an additional 20 hp. Compare that to the WRX which already beats it 2 seconds to 60 mph, and with $1300 for a downpipe, cat- back, and a custom ECU tune, gains 50 hp and 80 lb ft torque. Thus, making a fast car even faster. It doesn't have the precision steering that the Si has, or the stereo, but the power is why I bought the WRX. I expect to lose a few mpg to the Si which is fine. 1st and 2nd gear are a riot BTW! Highly recommend this car! Don't buy an Si if you expect straight line performance.
Mistake
I traded in my 2008 Chevy Trailblazer to save money on car payments and in gas. I do feel like a made a mistake by not really shopping around a bit before making my decision. I was trying to save money but making sure that I got a vehicle that had AWD. I wouldn't recommend getting the Impreza and would tell anyone who asked to look into other AWD cars. There are plenty out there, they may be a bit pricey but I believe it's worth it to love what you drive. I also have been looking into a few other cars that have AWD and if you look online, you can find lists of cars that have an AWD option. On top of not "loving that car", the dealer that I bought this from just wanted to sell a car.
Good car but expected better from Subaru
This is a long term rental replacing a Mazda 3. First the Impreza feels more like a Buick, it floats. Im used a hard suspension with precise steering, I dont have it here. The car floats over the road, which is nice for long trips, but no fun on twisty roads. The suspension in turns feels every bump and skips instead of holding the car in place. OEM tyres are crap for handling. The Auto tranny doesnt hold a gear or downshifts on its own going down the hill. The manual shift also does hold the gear (yes it shifts down even though 2 is shown on the dash). Engine has good power, but tranny reduces it. Comfy inside, good layout, nice equipment.
