2020 Subaru Forester - love her!!
Great vehicle! The CVT adjustments from last year made it feel just like a traditional auto trans! Nice job Subaru! I like it as much as my Mazda CX5. Both great, just different flavors. The CX5 sportier, and the Forester bigger. Both nice!

Lovely Update
I've leased two cars from Victory Subaru at this point, and they have provided conscientious assistance, and a nice selection of cars. The gentleman who helped me this past time, Bilal, answered all my questions and negotiated a nice deal where I feel happy with my purchase. Definitely would recommend. In regards to the car, it has everything I liked about my previous Forester, and more. The lane drift alerts, the updated aesthetics and the motor updates are all reasons why I'm happy with picking this up. And I can attest that these cars can fit most of an entire band's worth of gear inside. Big positive.

Cinderella compared to 2017
I traded in my 2017 Forester for the 2020 and the difference in comfort, safety features and inside vehicle noise is night to day. I got a great deal on the vehicle which included an auto lift gate pkg 1.5 and it was just what I wanted. Can't believe what was included for the money. Plus with 0 financing this purchase was a no-brainer.

LOVE IT
Great car! It has never let me down with some of the more aggressive trails I have taken it on. I also use this to get me to the ski resort and it is amazing in the snow, even with the stock tires. I have always felt safe and happy. I initially didn't get the MPG I had hoped, but after the break in period for the engine, I noticed an increase. Going about 80-85MPH (speed limit in Utah) I get about 30MPG. If I go slower, around 65-75MPH I get easily 34MPG. I have used this car to tow a single wave runner and kayaks at the same time, it did amazing! Still got about 25MPG doing it too. Love the space it provides. I sleep in it often and use it as my daily commuter. Great car! The only thing was it made a weird noise for a little bit. I took it to the dealer, and they were great to fix it. It was some sort of mechanical noise that came from it, they replaced the part and we were good to go.

Perfect "get away outside with toys" trail-rider
Update: Two years in and I'm even more impressed with the Forester and Eyesight! No issues and just normal service means I'm as frugal as possible. I am on my third Subie, and this is the best. Lane centering with Eyesight makes the trip to the mountains even easier. So much capacity for my skiis, boards, etc that the "lockdowns" haven't really hit my mental health. The ease of travel with the help of the Forester cannot be described. Please experience it over the course of a month and ensure you learn how to use it in slow, heavy traffic. There is no better place to learn how to use Adaptive Cruse.

My 2020 Subaru Forester NO ASSEMBLY REQUIRED
WOW, I knew I wanted the Subaru but was unprepared to appreciate all of the safety and driver assistance features. Lane control , cruise control lock , forward and rear detection systems are superb. There are also fun things like the radio and areal CD Harmon Kardon system. The telephone link with the I phone is troubling because the volume is inadequate to hear incoming callers well. Maybe I don't know the solution since I have owned the vehicle only 2 weeks.

Delighted with all the safety features, excellent visibility, And gas mileage is good-not great. I was use to a hybrid Camry and got ~ 36 mpg. Wish Subaru had a hybrid model Forester but overall VERY happy.

2018 to 2020
Wanted more bells and whistles and I got them. I had the 2018 premium, but gray clothe seats and a factory job don't mix. There are more reasons than that why I wanted to upgrade. The voice command is a lot better and all the displays are a lot better. The backup camera is where you can really tell the difference. Even though I could have paid off the 2018 in two years and avoided an additional three years, I am glad I did it. I went from liking my Subaru to Loving it.

Received an excellent E-Price from dealer; Received more for my trade than anticipated; Subaru 2.99% financing was below banks/credit unions. Sales personnel treated us well. Wife loves the car. Also, it's our 4th Forester since 2003.

Safe and Sound in my Subaru
Easy to drive ... Don't even feel the road! Love my Subaru!
Love it!
My first new car after buying used for many years. I love the way it drives & it has all features I was looking for. Compare & do research because everyone likes different things.
Love our Forester
I don't find this to be underpowered at all. I was driving a 2000 Suburban and the Forester has way more "get up and go"! It feels great on the road. It fits 3 kids in the back comfortably (one in a harness carseat, one in a backless booster). There is plenty of cargo space. It is a nice, quiet ride. So far all of the buttons and features seem pretty intuitive.

Love, love, love my new 2020 Forester Limited!
Had Crosstrek for 5 years. Loved it too. Needed something bigger and more options. Search other SUV’s but Subaru offered more for the money and getting on new vehicle under 500 miles 31.5 mph. Plenty of power and awesome ride. Larger windows are nice. 0% financing for 63 months also.
Love it!
My Forester is perfect hip height for easy access and the controls/apps are so easy to use. It handles well in snow and rain.

Ask a lady !!!
if you have never had a vehicle with CVT, it's quite an adjustment ! I really don't like the "jerky" shifting. New windshield wipers cause a water line across the drivers view that comes off the passenger blade. Console configuration needs to be more like the Outlander and it would be nice if the middle compartment could extend a bit more to create an armrest. All Premium models should come with rear gate closing button...why have an Option A & B when there is not much more on B???
More than they promise
There are better pavement ocasional gravel/dirt road SUV’s but no better any road condition on the highway and off road SUV. 15,000 miles in after the 2010 premium was totaled after 185,000 miles by a texting tailgater. Rain that causes others to pull off under the over passes, no problem, ice on the driveway that the 4WDTruck won’t climb, no problem, milage through it all 31MPG. It is quieter than the 2010, better amenities on the interior and even better visibility which is hard to imagine. Acceleration is fine for an SUV but not so much off you want a sports car. Soccer Moms and strictly pavement people might look more at Honda or Mazda they are made for pavement and city driving that can still help you offroad to some degree, they have a little more acceleration for evasive traffic maneuvers and feel more car like in the interiors. Any off road or in climate weather and you are far safer in the Subaru. I got the premium because I felt it was the best value for the models and I liked the sport but couldn’t handle the orange plastic trim. limited. Arkansas highways in republican counties get very little repair, teeth jarring pot holes, subsidence and outright cracks. I also live 1 mile gravel and dirt drive way with a steep hill climb that my civil engineer challenged brother in law turns into a black diamond mogul run. On top of that my wife and I like the beauty of the waterfalls, creeks and rivers in the state which takes us down steep dirt, gravel, mud and four wheeler trails that the county has never seen or maintained. We have been places that tested our marriage, once it got so rutted and rocky UTV’s had trouble getting through so we just turned around on a narrow down hill one lane wide cliff hugging mountain goat scaring trail of a road and went back. The Forester is well behaved in all paved road conditions the AWD is outstanding but the Forester is in its design element in places Honda CRV’s, Toyota RAV 4’s and Mazda CX5’s should never tread. Everything short of rock crawling the Forester has kept up and in some cases gone places we shouldn’t have and even some that other standard 4WD vehicles had trouble with. These are the reasons you see so many Foresters and Outbacks in the Rockies and in the harsh winter weather states up north and northeast. But hey don’t taker my word for how we’ll the Forester does In tough road conditions, take a tutorial by searching forester on YouTube and there are many videos of the Forester navigating mud bogs and climbing hills tricked out 4WD’s have trouble with or need towed from. Some of the new package tech can be annoying. The auto engine shutoff/restart feature is a little erratic in deciding when it wants to engage for example, you can turn it off but must do so each time you start the car. The lane drift warning system is annoying at first on the narrow two lane no shoulder roads we drive to remote areas we like to explore but if you are old enough to have played pin ball machines the dining and flashing can be nostalgic. Collision avoidance brakes more like your Mom is driving With grandkids in the car rather than engaging like a person with average reflexes, but if you are prone to not pay attention that is a good thing. The speed adjusting cruise control is fine for the open road but in the city or heavy traffic it will keep slowing down to give a safe gap as long as people want to cut you off and slide in front of you. Once you get the hang of the tolerances for these features that are minority annoying if you pay attention when you drive but can be life saving accident avoiding safety features when you are tired, heaven forbid on your phone while driving or just have some random doofus try to kill you with his bad driving. Space and comfort wise the Forester is much improved from the 2010 a single person or couple will love the Forester It has space for the baby stuff for up to two toddlers. Adults can sit comfortably in the back seat for longer trips that’s you would imagine. The space for storage is still very good and there is still the option of using the top rails on the roof as well.

Thermo Control Valve failures $$$$$
The 2019 2020 and some of the 2021 Foresters have a "thermo control valve" which, as best as I can tell, is a very expensive replacement to a simple, cheap, and effective thermostat. Whatever it is - it fails. They have modified the part going forward but the old one is in massive backorder. Our 2020 has been sitting at the dealer for weeks with no end in sight after completely shutting down at highways speeds. I would not wish this car on my worst enemy. The part is very pricey to replace - well over $1,000 - if you are out of warranty and I have not seen any indication that Subaru intends to replace them all - they appear to be content to let the ticking time bomb tick while the warranty clock runs.

Great Compact SUV
Compared to Rav4 and CRV. Forester, CRV, Rav4 rated in that order. Also saw a snow driving comparison of the three. Forester was the best of the three there too. This is a great ride!

My First Subaru
I am very pleased with everything about my new Subaru. I urge anyone who is considering buying a mid-size SUV to check out a Subaru before making a final decision. It is loaded with every driver assist you could want, performance is instant and reliable, and the price is very reasonable for everything included in my Touring.

Good overall hiking and camping SUV
Predictably I got a flat on the cheap new factory tires during my first week out on a hiking/camping trip. Otherwise, the car is comfortable to drive and handles well on small roads, highways, and gravel roads. I took it on one rocky steep road and it did well. I drive it slowly, but it still jolts a lot when driving through potholes. Relatively smooth on washboard. Love the blind spot detection and the adaptable cruise control. Don't like the continuously variable transmission that jerks the car a lot in town. Afraid of wearing out the starter when using the feature that turns off the engine at stop lights. Less cargo space than my 2002 Outback, so that is an issue.
GPS must be paid 149 for year!!!!!!
Why do I have to pay every month 350 for used 2020 forester and in order that I could use that screen in front of me I would need to pay 149 a year? Is that how anybody else work? I do not know but it is ridiculous that you have a worthless screen in front of you but you can not use it. The thing that turn off your vehicle on every damn light is more than annoying. Thing that start your brakes even do you are 30-40 feet from vehicle in front off you it is plain and simple stupid....

Fraudulent Automaker
I purchased a Subaru Forrester in 2016. Five years later I come to find out that they have been having problems with their CVT transmission. I’ve been told I must replace a valve body for $1700. Rather than issue a recall Subaru decided to extend their warranty to 10 years or 100,000 miles. That means that after 10 years or hundred thousand miles you are at risk of needing a $7000 CVT transmission. Subaru does not allow for after parts so either you get a used transmission or you must go to Subaru to replace. very sleazy I will never buy Subaru again
Everything I Ever Needed
I love this car! It has all the bells and whistles one would ever need in a car, not to mention all the safety measures that are so important in a car.

Very Problematic, Terrible Customer Service
I leased a 2020 Forrester Touring in February of 2020 for $34,000 which ended up being $38,000 total. At first it was great, responsive, fun to drive and very safe. Then the problems started such as the system that identifies you so that you have a profile so that each person can have their own settings. This broke in the second year and they could not fix it even after I left the car at the dealer for months and I explained to them so I just gave up and took the car back. This year was the worst when some sensors broke which caused all of the safety systems to break. There was no adaptive cruise control, no heat, no high beams and the car was stuck in sports mode and it would not go into the highest gear although its a CVT. It not that fact that something broke but the fact is took over 6 months to get the parts to fix it. Dozens of hours over many calls to the corporate offices to open several cases which were and closed with no follow up at all. I finally escalated it up to someone in management and she was able somehow get the parts but still even after selling the car back to the dealer I still have no confirmation that it was fixed. Also trying to work with the local dealing here in Flemington NJ was absolutely horrible. I would call them on a weekly basis and they have no idea what is going on nor could they tell me what parts were needed or if they would ever come. The whole experience was abysmal and really exposed the complete incompetence of the Subaru organization to fix a major quality issue with their product which affected quite a few customers. I will never buy a their products again and I highly suggest that you do not as well since out of the 30 months I owned it 8 of them there was something wrong with the vehicle.

Underpowered and overpriced
I just tested a couple of 2020 Forester from a local dealer and found the engine and transmission response lazy and disappointing. I was looking to replace my dated Forester XT, which still drives like new and is in excellent condition. Unfortunately several successive tear and wear repairs are expensive enough that it makes sense to replace it. Test-drove the new Subies in Sport and Limited version and surprise surprise, they felt as if I was driving and old van. Nothing comparable to my old turbocharged Subi even if using the transmission "Sport" mode. The business model has also changed. It seems Subaru feels it is now consolidated in the US market and has move into less attractive cost profiles. Things that used to be standard such as the cargo bars, the side sills, and the mud guards are now optional equipment. However, if you are planning to buy be prepared, many new cars bring these "optional" equipment installed already, or so I was told, so you end paying for it at a premium price of course. Based sale prices I got were in the $32,000, high enough to move into a higher car model tier. Not sure why Subaru is undermining what it used to be probably the best deal in town for a new car. For the time being, I will need to go back to my research for a new car again. Ohh, did I mentioned that these new models do not offer a Turbo option either? Shameful

Driver seats very small & uncomfortable.
I bought the latest model of forester 2020. But am totally unsatisfied with the seat comfort, very small driver seats and the lumbar support is very less. Bought it to the notice of the dealer and he is unresponsive. Will think twice before buying another sabaru. Asked them to provide additional padding so can can drive in long distance. No response. Shock absorbers not too good. Mileage is only 24 for mixed use.

Comfortable, sensible, efficient, but dull
It’s a great car for the average person looking for a reliable, comfortable vehicle. It’s extremely safe and well made. It’s just not for me. The car lacks any emotion and isn’t all that fun to drive. It feels like an appliance, or tool. Perfectly functional, but not for me.

Great Choice
I test drove three different vehicles before landing on the Forester. I had a Subaru a few years back that I was not a huge fan of, so didn't have high expectations going into my test drive but the Forester exceeded any expectation I had. It's comfortable, smooth and gets really good gas mileage. I would definitely recommend this vehicle to anyone.

Love it!
Love the car and had such a positive experience with purchasing - everyone was super helpful!
Subaru knows what they're doing.
I do adventuring with my cars and have had other Subaru's. While they are very capable onroad where most people use them to get groceries, when the road ends these cars work very well in snow and loose sand. I use this one in areas that get full size pickup trucks stuck as the smart AWD system and light weight enable it to float over thick sand. I like the features like the adaptive CC, lane assist, blind spot monitoring. All are integrated with the "Eyesight: system". The power in the engine I find to be very acceptable as well as the fuel economy. Subaru now is able to do more today with a 2.5l 4 cylinder than they were able to do with a 3.0 6 cylinder in the early 2000's with much better fuel economy so the technology has really improved. Overall I'm very pleased with this reliable, competent, and very versatile car. If I had to nitpick I'd say the styling is pretty bland though.

My First Subaru!
.....Forester and Subaru and very, very happy with it. I am leasing and intend to buy this vehicle once the lease is up. I do not drive a lot, just over 13,000 miles in a little less than 3 years, but with the Adaptive Cruise and Lane Keeping Assist, it just isn't a chore to drive either in City traffic or out on the Interstate and it's a lot of fun to get out on backcountry roads. Bought my first car in 1959 and honestly this Forester is in the top three favorites.
