Once you go Subaru, do you ever go back?!

Lindsey , 05/10/2023
2024 Subaru Crosstrek Premium 4dr SUV AWD (2.0L 4cyl CVT)

My first Subaru, and I am absolutely in love! The seats are extremely comfortable, the ride feels like you’re literally gliding across the road, and the large touch screen in the center of the dash just makes the vehicle feel SO 2024. I transitioned from a Rav4, and I never thought I would leave Toyota, because I loved my Rav! BUT with the battery issues in the newer Ravs, I had to give Subaru a try, and I have zero regrets. I typically prefer darker vehicles and have never liked white—but this white absolutely *sparkles,* and it I am have zero regrets buying this color! The only reason I gave this 4 stars, and it is minor, but Inso not feel the controls on the steering wheel are user friendly. There are several buttons at thumbs distance, which is perfect, but they are all crammed together and difficult (nearly impossible as a new Crosstrek driver) to differentiate while driving—simplified would make it much easier and more safe to navigate while en route. If I could give 4.5 stars, I would.

3 Months Old. Major Repair Needed

TPTaylor, 07/29/2023
2024 Subaru Crosstrek Premium 4dr SUV AWD (2.0L 4cyl CVT)

I bought a new 2024 Crosstrek Premium from Subaru of Kennesaw 3 months ago. The new Crosstrek is roomier than most vehicles at that price point and had plenty of cargo space to hold the luggage of a family of 4 on a weekend trip. Fuel economy averaged a little over 28 mpg. The ride was smooth and the handling more like a sedan than an SUV. Those were the high points. As far as the lows, the acceleration has been described as “pokey” and that’s accurate. Accelerating onto a busy interstate leaves you feeling like the engine is trying to catch up. Interesting enough, there are no issues with the acceleration when resuming the cruise control set speed. It seems the Crosstrek responds much better to the computer than to the gas pedal. The computer is the MAJOR problem with this vehicle. After almost 3 months of driving it the “infotainment” or “head unit” system died; and when I say died, I mean that it has to be replaced with at least a one month wait time for a replacement part. The car can be driven without this part, but it disabled all of the safety and security features except for the locks and all A/C, phone, radio and anything else accessed by that system is gone. And here’s where insult was added to injury. I suggested that since the car was only 3 months old and already needing the equivalent of an auto brain transplant that the dealership allow me to have a different vehicle. They referred me to Subaru Corporate and the Customer Advocacy Team. What I experience with that department was the opposite of customer advocacy. Their representative said they didn’t replace cars due to a “broken radio” which is a little like calling my iPhone a fancy calculator. When I tried to ask for his manager, he gave me the old “I am the manager” routine and when I asked to speak to “someone above him” he informed me there was no one above him and directed me back to the dealership because “they should stand behind the cars they sell.” Apparently Subaru does not. Now I’m in limbo as the dealership and Subaru attempt determine who should do what in this situation. This is not my first Subaru and until this issue I was happy with the Crosstrek. Now, I can’t see myself buying another. It’s one thing to say you stand behind your vehicles and another to actually do it. I also have serious concerns about the 2024 Crosstrek given this completely unexplained malfunction so early into the life of the vehicle. I’ll be interested to see if this happens with others.

A Great Crossover Made Better

Mikea, 07/26/2023
2024 Subaru Crosstrek Limited 4dr SUV AWD (2.5L 4cyl CVT)

This is the third Subaru Crosstrek I have owned and it does not disappoint. I have the Limited version that includes an updated interior and exterior. I really love the new front seats with driver's side lumbar support. The large infotainment tablet display is great and have had no issues with it so far. The updated stereo system is also a great improvement. The ride is so much smoother and quieter than the previous two. Steering is great in the city and such a smooth ride on the highways. Reviews have mentioned the pokey power, but I find it very zippy through the city and have no problems passing others. The continuously variable automatic works fine for me. I have had BMWs, Fords, and Niissans and my Crosstreks have always come out on top. Looking forward to my next road trip.

2nd Review, I purchased a 2024 Subaru Crosstrek Limited with a 2.5-liter engine. The Outback's engine is the same as this one. The Crosstrek is lighter, which makes it a lot quicker. In every circumstance, it is very simple to maneuver. On the highway, the car is quiet and comfortable to drive. Excellent fuel economy; I continue to average 29-30 mpg around town. The tire pressures are set at 36 in the front and 35 in the back. I was able to get up to 34 MPG on the interstate. The Harmon Kardon audio system is great. This car continues to have my highest recommendation. I just recently ordered another Crosstrek for the wife, a 2025.

Stuck under my garage door- Seriously Subaru!!!???

New Subaru Owner, 01/17/2024

While I was leaving my garage my car suddenly came to a stop. It disabled my gear shift, it disabled the throttle, it locked my steering wheel. All the warning lights on my dashboard were blinking, and the display was flashing multiple warning messages. The car wouldn't let me move in any direction, leaving the back half under my garage door, the front half almost on the street for two hours. I tried to get Subaru 'Starlink' emergency help but it failed. Starlink told me that their 'help' button only works if the Subaru computer system is working properly. In my case it wasn't working. I had to wait 2 hours for a towing truck to tow my car away to the closest Subaru dealership. They have had my car for 11 days now, and still cannot find the cause. This car is only a few months old and it has only 300 miles on it. I really loved it. It was my first brand new car ever! But I can’t see myself driving it again. I can only imagine what would happen if I made it on the street or on the highway and it suddenly stopped! What do you say Subaru? Thanks.

Most frustrating vehicle I've owned

Bug Man Brian, 01/13/2024

My '24 premium has on multiple occasions decided that it needs to slam the brakes for invisible obstacles. It hits them HARD. The dealer is powerless to fix it as the car is acting as programmed and there are no adjustments to make. The system can be turned off every time you start the car by going several layers deep into the menu on the unresponsive touch screen, only to test your to 4+ orange lights on your dash. The car rattles from the dash rather intensely and the exterior b pillar trim has started melting. Parts have been on order for 5 months now. Beware that the car has an always on cellular connection you can't control. Pulling the fuse for it disables your front speakers too. This is my first and last subaru, and it's pretty close to qualifying for the lemon law in my state. All that side, it runs and drives nice, gets better mileage than my Kia Soul ever did, and it's acceptably comfortable.

Had the base model for three years and upgraded to the Limited version with 180hp. The takeoff from a stop is still slowish unless you gun the car to 4000rpm. On the highway it moves much easier and quicker. Highway noise is obvious, but decent driving in town. Love the 11 inch screen!

I have heard nothing but good things about Subarus, but the road noise on this model is beyond uncomfortable. I did extensive research, including test driving several other makes. But while it was great in most other specifications, I obviously overlooked the notation of road noise. In the city I did not notice it, but after purchase when I drove on the interstate it was uncomfortable to say the least. Perhaps I did not notice it during the test drive because there were 3 people in the car. But I frequently drive 90 miles to visit friends and 400 miles to visit family and the road noise was too much. (This was without hearing aids.) I have since taken a 400 mile roadtrip in a Toyota RAV 4. The seats were more comfortable, the infotainment display more to my liking - Crosstrek is a little large, and I found while there are nobs for station selection, I had to take my eyes off the road for way too long to select pre-assigned stations (but there are 18 which is quite nice). I did have to go up a level to get blind spot indicators. Other than that, the safety features were quite good on the Crosstrek. And it one of the shorter crossovers, which was at least somewhat more desirable. Some less important things were better in the RAV 4. The center storage console comes much farther forward, which makes a comfortable resting spot for my elbow; there is a nice little open recessed shelf for sunglasses and such; the trays for holding coins were conveniently placed and shallow, which I prefer; and there was another shallow shelf for holding my cell phone. I will have to pay more for a RAV 4, and will miss my Horizon Blue Pearl color, which I love, but being a hybrid will hopefully make up for this. For me, this will be a better fit overall. If road noise is not an issue for you, and price is a consideration, the Crosstrek would be quite a nice car for you.

A real great car with impressive fuel consumption

I purchased a base 2024 Crosstrek and have driven it around 3000 miles. I am primarily using it to travel on USFS roads to trail heads. The dealership installed a stock 2-inch hitch for a bicycle rack and pull a 500 lb utility trailer. The 2.0 L engine is sufficiently powerful and provides plenty of pull and acceleration. No complaints what so ever. The instrument panel has an LED gasoline consumption gage (among other readings) so I can monitor my driving. What's surprising is that the car is consistently getting between 40 and 45 miles per gallon!

24 Trek not for me, 08/31/2023

This is my first Subaru and I know a lot of people love them. I thought I would love it, but I was wrong. If you live near the woods or just run around town then it is probably an outstanding choice, but if you ever need to take a road trip or need power to get into traffic then probably not the best choice. The engine has no power even if you use the [S] mode and the seats are super uncomfortable for anything more than a few hours on the road. Then there is the road noise, which was a shock. If all you do is a quick test drive near the dealership then the first time you hit the highway might surprise you. I have owned Jeeps with less road noise :).... While I like the design and gas mileage, I am a one and done owner. There are too many other options out there and in this price range. But while not for me, it might be great for you.

I have to say that I love my new Subaru Crosstrek Sport. I went to the dealer wanting a Forester Premium or Sport, but there weren’t any. The Crosstrek was my 2nd choice so there was one I could test drive. I ended up buying it. The seats are so comfortable and the ride is so smooth. I’m coming from a 29-year-old Geo, so it is like night and day. There’s a learning curve, at least for me, but I’m enjoying all the features. It has all the safety features I was looking for, 7 airbags for starters. The blind spot monitors on the mirrors are helpful. I suppose most of the things I would bring up aren’t really new to most people reading this. So, I’ll just say that I now really understand why all the people who I know that have Subarus, love them. My only downside is there’s no power lift for the back hatch available on the Crosstrek. That’s why I was hoping for a Forester.

Will never buy a Subaru again. I’ve broken down twice & had to get it towed. First time was 6 days after I got. Dealer said it was loose gas cap that shut off all safety features..? Second time, the battery died. Original battery that didn’t last a year. Wouldn’t jump either

The car is a disappointment. Safety features are actually distracting. Eyesight regularly causes safety concerns. Driver assist randomly shuts off, and makes dangerous mistakes. I haven't used mine since the second month. The voice commands functions don't work. The door unlocks are unreliable. I have some battery draining short in the car. The dealership can't find, and so won't fix. The city MPG is half the highway in MPG. The car is fun to drive if you have no weight in it.

The Wilderness is probably overkill if you won’t be off-roading, but it shares the more powerful engine with the Sport and Limited trims. Handles well despite 9” ground clearance. The negatives? Laggy infotainment screen, no -functional wireless charging, and only 22 mpg in city driving.

The people who love driving this car either never go above 50 or always drive with the wind. Wind noise is crazy. Getting above 50 is not an easy task anyways, so I understand if that's the case. The 2.0L is wildly under powered. It's borderline dangerous. The plastic on the dashboard and sits is hollow and cheap feeling. That probably helps amplify road and wind noise. As for the tech. The screen is huge. Which also means the sun hits it at anytime that's not high noon. It's wireless android auto usually works, but when it doesn't connect there's a huge dance to do to get it back. I had a 2014 Outback and wish I had just kept it. The 2014s build quality was substantially better. The best part, my local Subaru dealership also has a Mazda lot right next door. The difference between the two brands is night and day. Plus, they gave me a great deal since they were getting the Crosstrek back.

Getting horrible mileage on my 2024 Crosstrek

My 2024 Crosstrek is getting horrible mileage. I only have 800 miles on it, but I got 21 MPH first tank, 22 MPG 3rd tank, 21.5 on 3rd tank and now on my 4th tank I'm getting about 21 MPG. I was expecting 27-28 combined, but I'm not even getting 25 MPG. What is wrong? This is horrible. I bought these car because it was supposed to get decent mileage and with the price of gas, this is not something I can keep. The dealer tells me it's due to the car being so new, but I find that hard to believe. Is it a lemon? Does an adjustment need to be made? UPDATE, I continue to get terrible mileage. The dealer says nothing is wrong. Best I've done with combined city and freeway is 23 MPG. I now have over 5K miles on the car and I am hoping it will improve, so far it has not.

2024 Crosstrek is a dud

New Subaru owner, 10/06/2023
2024 Subaru Crosstrek Sport 4dr SUV AWD (2.5L 4cyl CVT)
79 of 108 people found this review helpful

I recently purchased a 2024 Crosstrek Sport in Alpine Green from Subaru of Kennesaw. I bought into the hype of “Subarus are so good! Subarus are so safe!” But after driving it for a few days, I realized I had made an awful mistake. It drives okay, yes, but the layout of the cabin is small, uncomfortable, and fittings look cheap. The dash is mostly taken up with an Ipad-sized display that is so laggy and difficult to use that I couldn’t stand it. On the fourth day, I dug out the phone holder I used in my previous car (a 2010 toyota) and went back to doing things on my phone instead of using Apple CarPlay. The “wireless charging,” a feature I paid for, does not work. My car charges about 3% during a 20 minute drive. I tried plugging it in with the provided USB jack but no dice, still doesn’t work. I imagine the useless and ginormous display is pulling all the available power. I turned the charging pad off and now use it as a place to put my sunglasses. Works great for that! My gas tank was also “loose” in its fitting on delivery, I have to take it back and figure out what that’s about. It doesn’t give me a lot of confidence in the build. I worry that the inoperable charger & glitchy display are signs they cheaped out other places too. Overall I’m very depressed that I’m now stuck with this car for at least 2-3 years. It’s the first new car I’ve bought in 30 years and now I realize how foolish it is to buy new. If only I’d known all these tech features I paid for would not work well! My car is green and I’ve named it Rue for the plant, and also all the sickening remorse I feel for my purchase. As soon as the money makes sense I’ll try to sell it to someone who hasn’t read the reviews for this car’s tech system. I just hope the rest of the car holds up until I can unload it without losing my shirt. In short, don’t believe the rah-rah Subaru hype. This 2024 Crosstrek is a dud. Wish I’d known before I gave them my non refundable money. Ugh.

I drive a 2024 Crosstrek Limited. It was the right purchase. Assembled in Indiana, it is very well put-together. All seams and materials are satisfying. IT is very quiet, rides very smoothly, has good handling and steering. While the interior appointments are not luxury, they are durable and tight. THe big infotainment screen can be a bit laggy, it is easy to master and offers many options. I do regret not having the option of a heated steering wheel (Canadians have that!), but no other regrets. If you want a great little vehicle that you will appreciate in the winter - especially, this is the one!

First crosstalk after having 6 Toyota rav4s

I lease a new vehicle every three years the last six were Toyota rav4s. The 2021 one was awful, poor acceleration and after 2000 miles it needed a complete brake job, the calipers were rusted shut on one of the brakes when I purchased it and the dealership didn’t notice even though I returned to them at least 5 times including the day I picked it up. The crosstalk is definitely smaller and has less storage space but I think it handles better, is roomier inside, has way more updated features and the acceleration is incredible compared to the ravs I had. I will never go back to Toyota

Swapped '23 to '24

Coming out of a '23 Limited, I can't say I think think the '24 is 'improved' in any measurable way. The infotainment system response is frustratingly slow, and although the '24 seems to have 'better' interior finish materials, there's too many different finishes (look closely at the dashboard, fellow owners). Less piano black plastic is better, but they still out that around the gearshift... the one place it's most likely to get scratched up. The seats seem to be more supportive, and some under seat vents for air/heat in the back is a nice change, but the upper air vents in the middle don't seem to be as effective. No discernible difference in driving from the '23. Both took/take us where we need to go in reasonable comfort for the price point. If this had been our first Crosstrek, we'd be over the moon happy with it, but I'm keeping one star because I think the '23 was better.

Do-most-of-it SUV

2024 Subaru Crosstrek Limited 4dr SUV AWD (2.5L 4cyl CVT)
4 of 4 people found this review helpful

I went from a Civic Hatchback a 2024 Crosstrek Limited. I’ve always wanted an SUV with AWD to drive Sierra Nevada forest service roads. For ~30k, it does a lot more than other cars can, but it’s not perfect. Originally I was having issues with the infotainment system and my CarPlay. There would be a lag, and sometimes it would freeze and then kick off the phone. Software updates have fixed this! The wireless phone charger is useless as your phone is apt to slide around while driving, and it charges incredibly slow. You’re better off just plugging it into the USB-C for fast charging. The 2.5 liter engine is the way to go if freeway driving is part of your regular commute. It can pull steep 6-8% grades just fine, but passing isn’t super easy. I couldn’t imagine having a 2.0 liter engine, but many folks say it’s okay. The 2.5 does well around town and doesn’t feel slow at all. The center console can be uncomfortable after awhile, and the leather that’s supposedly genuine feels synthetic, to me at least. I love the radio interface especially for satellite radio. This is a great car for a single person or a couple, but I’d be apprehensive of making this a family car. I’ve read that it’s common putting 3 people in the backseat. Cargo space would make traveling with more than 2 people difficult unless you use the roof rails. Of course, you can put the second row down. Overall, though, it’s a great car if you want to do light or moderate off-roading. I drove it through a snowstorm in Northern Arizona and while other cars ended in the ditch, the Subie did amazing with the stock tires. Just went slow and left space and there was no sliding. It’s not perfect, but it truly does a lot of things well. If I had over 40k to spend, I’d buy a loaded Outback with the bigger engine, but for 30k, this Limited does well for a single 20-something guy.

Subaru 2024 (new) Crosstrek Limited

2024 Subaru Crosstrek Limited 4dr SUV AWD (2.5L 4cyl CVT)

I like the build quality and overall feeling of the solidly built AWD drive hatchback. The 2.5-liter engine is "adequate" for the platform. Road noise suppression is "good," but not on par with higher-end SUVs' extensive deadening efforts. The electric-adjusted driver seat with lumbar inclusion is a very welcome touch. The front seats are fantastic. The rear seats are adequately good. The materials appear top-notch throughout and the Falken standard tires are a nice touch. The interior contrasts very nicely. The faux carbon fiber trim pieces might appeal to the younger generations but are not gaudy enough to cause this oldster to roll his eyes. Subtlety is the key. It is the best compact SUV my wife ever had. I do have two niggles: The LED headlights are easy to overdrive as the low-beams cutoff is dreadfully close to the vehicle, and they do not illuminate the sides of the road like the quartz-halogen peepers we've had for decades. I suggested to my wife that we drive with the fog lamps on at night, and she indicated it was a vast improvement. The second, without going into great detail, involves Subaru's advertisement of the Harmon Kardon "Premium" sound system as a 10-speaker setup. A more likely etiology and closer to the truth would be a 10-element speaker system, which sorely lacks the panache of better Harmon Kardon "Premium" systems in BMW and Mercedes-class vehicles. I can't grade the system audio package (although the integration with the nice display is good) in its present iteration as acceptable, but my wife thinks it sounds OK. YMMV. This system could have been salvaged with proper speaker selection and setup, including a separate powered subwoofer in the hatch area like other competitors. I may be jaded with experience from audio, RF, and consumer electronics engineering backgrounds for four decades. Bottom line: The new generation 2024 Subaru Crosstrek Limited (at least for my wife and me) ticks all the right boxes with safety and AWD requirements. The array of safety features is abundant, including the front and side proximity warning system. I spent a month researching compact AWD SUVs for my wife and the Subaru ticked more boxes than six other contestants, the best being the true symmetrical AWD drivetrain. My wife is thrilled with it, and you know the venerable saying: "Happy wife, happy life!"

Limited with 2.5L Engine is Sweet Spot

Noah, 01/20/2025
2024 Subaru Crosstrek Limited 4dr SUV AWD (2.5L 4cyl CVT)

I'm about 6 months into my fully loaded 2004 Limited trim Crosstrek and am very, very happy. The engine feels just right for the car, but I still somehow get 37+ MPG highway at about 70 MPH. Compared to my previous 2017 Impreza sedan, it's a huge upgrade: quieter, peppier, more buttoned-up, and rides and handles beautifully. The CVT is more refined, and the sound of the Boxer engine is more muted and pleasant when pushed. The upgraded X-Drive AWD options are terrific to have, and the EyeSight system is upgraded. I also like the added ground clearance and build on our increasingly rutted roads-- the Crosstrek just soaks everything up without any fuss in most any weather. I highly recommend test driving the Limited trim in the redesigned 2024+ Crosstrek to see how far Subaru has come in the last several years. While it isn't a powerhouse with the bigger engine, it can get out of its own way without a problem and feels incredibly solid and a pleasure to drive. For a non-hybrid AWD, I find the MPGs quite good (you do take a hit in purely city driving, but even then it meets the sticker estimate). In the past I drove Audis and VWs: I enjoy this Crosstrek even more. The new larger touchscreen console is just fine and includes physical buttons for temp adjustment and other common tasks. The only quibble I have with the electronics is the upgraded Harmon-Kardon stereo: the speaker set up is very forward-centric. If you're used to stereos with beefy rear speakers, you'll find the Crosstrek reversed: the front speakers carry most of the sound, even when you equalize it to push the center back. It's not bad, but it does take an adjustment. Otherwise, I really can't find anything to complain about!

18MPG city driving 2024 Subaru Crosstrek Limited

bought this car last year , got disappointed with ave16mpg on city driving on its initial gas filled from the dealer. Next gas full thank we we use Costco brand, it gave us anywhere from ave 16 to 18 mpg city driving. brought it back to Timmons dealer, the service guy told us to use different brand of gas. we did what the service people told us. The next gas we use was Chevron, and still gave us the same 18mpg city driving. This is very disappointing, sticker says 27 on city 33 on highway. One factor why we bought this car is mpg 27/33, but we are getting 18.

We just finished the break-in period, so this is still kind of preliminary, but wow, I'm thoroughly impressed. We've always preferred small cars, but after we redid the driveway at the same time the city redid the sidewalks, there was never enough ground clearance. No matter how slow and at what angle we tried, every time we pulled in, "scraaape!" Add to that, the collection of cracks, potholes and expansion joints that they call "roads" around here (rural upper Midwest) and the small cars that we were driving just no longer cut it. This one replaces a Dodge Dart, that actually handled the rough terrain better than the mid-sized SUV that's my work car. The Dart was a comfortable, quick and well mannered car, but was getting a little long in tooth and the electronics really couldn't be updated. This Crosstrek has most of the same feel... the passenger compartment has virtually the same dimensions, and on the road, the fact that this one is a little bit more top heavy is offset by the full time AWD. A little smoother on rough roads and about the same cornering. A little more ground clearance; we still have to be careful, but it's much easier to pull into the driveway without bottoming. (The deciding factor between this one and the Legacy.) I'm about 6'1" and "all leg" yet I have the power seat set a little bit forward of all the way back; the Dart had manual seats and I drove that one a notch forward as well. This one has a little less power, especially since we have the smaller engine, but that's somewhat offset by the CVT. We're old enough that we don't need something that can go to the track on weekends, so the 2.0 is plenty "peppy" (heavy on the condescension) for us, but I would recommend the 2.5 for most people. But it's by no means under powered. All that in a package that is reasonably priced and even my wife thinks it's attractive. When I was doing my research, my technophobe wife kept complaining about "all [my] gadgets" but everything (except the moon roof which was part of a package) helps with safety. Years ago, I had a car that took a little while to notice, but you could hide a Navy capital ship in the blind spot. This one has pretty good visibility, but the blind spot monitoring helps make up for us getting older. Same with the auto-dimming mirrors. (Late spring and no night driving yet, so I can't rate their effectiveness, but in the garage you can see them working.) The infotainment center is complete and easy to navigate, the center display in the instrument cluster has all the information you need at a glance. The LED headlights and fog lights last longer and light better than the halogen type they replace, (again, confirmed in the garage) but that brings us to the next paragraph... The car does have a few minor "quirks" and one thing I would consider a significant "ding." LED headlights, fog lights and third brake light, but way too many incandescent bulbs. Don't get that design choice. The cup holders are kind of oddly placed. I put a phone holder/charger in one and regularly bump it. The heated seats (YAY!!!) have rockers rather than momentary switches that don't reset when the car is turned off. The cruise power button doubles as a cancel button, and since it's graphically marked, it took a while to figure out. I don't get why there has to be a power button in the first place. Either you engage it or don't, right? But everyone does it so it's probably some sort of regulation. 160MPH speedometers aren't endearing to me... I get it, stepper motor based gauges don't have infinite resolution and you want to display one step per MPH, but seriously, it reduces resolution in the range that you actually spend the most time driving, and can you imagine this conversation? "Sorry officer, but that couldn't have been me you clocked at 152, my speedometer said I was only going 147." This one is angled so a normal driving range is near the top making it more useful than mid-scale on top. But it seems that a glass dash would be less expensive at today's level of tech. The fuel door arrow points to the left with a fuel pump icon to its left. To me that means that the fuel door is on the left of the car and the pump should be on your left. It's on the passenger side. I prefer that, but apparently the icon means that the door is on the right because it's pointing to the right side of the pump icon. (My SUV is the other way, but the same thing, the icon points to the right when the door is on the left.) No dedicated sunglasses holder. Not a big deal, but so universal it seems an odd omission. One puzzling thing, I have a remote on the outside lights on my garage. Even though it's not rated for use with Home Link, it worked with my SUV. I can't get it to pair with the Crosstrek. Again, not rated to work with Home Link, but that's a third-party item and it seems weird that it works with one but not the other. The one significant ding, to me however, is the fabric on the seats, while comfortable, is already showing some fraying. I wear cargo pants and I think it's the hook-and-loop strips on the pocket flaps, but none of my other cars, or even home furniture, have ever done that. At least not at this young of an age. As well made as this car is, that one's kind of heartbreaking. There are some covers available as accessories, when I bring the car in for service I'll look into them. Expensive compared to the big box store versions, I'll stick to Subaru's if for no other reason than there are supplemental air bags in the seats and my guess is the Subaru designed ones are designed around that. Aftermarket ones may be as well, but I'd rather not risk finding out the hard way. Bottom line? This is the best designed and best built car I've ever owned. It's actually my wife's car, and I'm more than a little jealous. (But I drive when we're both in the car, so there's that.) Small by today's standards, but comfortable and with an array of convenience and safety features, and a nice array of trim levels. 5* for sure. FWIW: Not a factor in my final decision, but got me to look into Subaru in the first place was the dog family commercials. Minor Update: I have found one thing that I don't like. The cruise control is a little too quick to hit the brakes. I'm driving, not flying the Vomit Comet, after all. That's not just the traffic sensing feature, but any little change in terrain or wind. Besides wasting gas and wearing the brakes quicker than they otherwise would, the flashing brake lights mean that traffic behind needs an extra second or two to realize that I'm actually stopping, not just flashing the brake lights. That makes that particular safety feature actually LESS safe. Next service I'll ask if there's a software setting to adjust that, but I'm doubtful.

Crosstrek Sport Tougher and Sassier

The 2024 Crosstrek is improved in several aspects from my previous 2021 model. Acceleration is smoother, the engine has more power, the newly designed infotainment screen is better, and road noise is lessened through increased noise-deadening insulation. I chose the Crosstrek Sport trim level which has cool yellow-gold exterior accents and water-repellent upholstery with contrast stitching.

I had an earlier year Crosstrek but it had no guts. Good car but mountains were its doom. The new 2.5 liter Wilderness is so much better. Not a bullet yet but much quicker and handles rough terraine with ease. And it looks snappy. A terrific, good looking, fun car to drive with serious abilities off road or on slick roads!

The Subaru Crosstrek (2024) has really surprised me in a good way. I leased it for my wife and daughter thinking it would be a solid, get-around vehicle, with average features (that's what they wanted). In fact, it is so much more! I noted the other reviews here, and I feel like some have a different car. In brief, the road noise is not an issue at all, the engine is smooth and quiet, and the electronics solid. I have the base Premium model, which is one up from the complete base model. And my goodness, I was surprised at all of the standard features that come with the base Premium trim: led headlights and fog lights, welcome lights in the rearview mirrors, large screen with wireless Android Auto and Carplay, carpet AND plastic mats (including one for the rear cargo area), roof rails, lane keep assist, Subaru eyesight, free subscription to Starlink, auto hold, Sirius travel link, X-mode, and the list goes on. You get all of these features in a $26k car! So to me, the main appeal is the value. In addition, it is fun to drive, fits tall people well (I'm 6'4" and daughter is 5'11"), and looks really sharp. The acceleration is better than average and it feels stable on the highway. I would recommend taking the negative reviews on this site with a grain of salt. If I had any cons, it would be the incandescent bulb lighting for the turn signals, reverse light, and interior lights. At this trim, the steering wheel is plastic, but at least feels OK. And finally, it would be nice to have a sunroof, which is only found on the higher trims. Overall, I am really impressed with this little go-getter Crosstrek.

The 2025 Crosstrek Premium is the third Subaru I have owned. Never again will I buy Subaru. The road noise is so bad there is constant wind as if the windows are down. At highway speeds it is unbelievably loud. I've never had a vehicle so loud on the road. The infotainment system does not work most of the time and it takes multiple touches to get to what you want --- very lengthy process and not safe to navigate while driving. I loved my 2019 Impreza and instead of making improvements to the infotainment, it has gotten substantially worse. Huge remorse/regret over this 2025 Crosstrek purchase. Interior is very plastic low grade feeling. Positives: the size of the interior, comfortable front seats and all of the features that came in the Premium package are good. It has a very appealing exterior look and great color options. Good gas mileage. Hopefully Subaru durability, but who knows. The loud road noise make me wonder if the overall durability and reliability of a Subaru is still there.

I am 66 years young and 10+years disabled so I make internet inquiries. I had spoken to six different dealerships before I met Jayson from Hello Subaru Valencia. I live in the Kern River Valley and their dealership is 124 miles from my house. There were several other dealerships I could have dealt with that were closer, two of which were Subaru dealerships. Jayson was the difference! He spent 15 hours+- answering all my questions. For example, when I asked if the clip in the back was metal or plastic to attach my dog to, he sent me a video within 3 minutes. Jayson was respectful and very attentive to my personal needs. They factory installed my mud flaps and handle on my lift gate before I ever stepped foot in their beautiful dealership on Friday, January 5th, 2024. Everyone was so friendly, simply put nice. I had a negative situation come up regarding my title on my trade-in. I actually went home. I was very upset. I received a phone call later that evening from Freddy, who is a manager at Hello Subaru Valencia. We talked. He actually listened to what I had to say. I made the decision to return the next day based on the conversation with Freddy. A 248 mile round trip. I was not disappointed with my decision! Freddy kept his word, yes kept his word! Freddy then did something I was not expecting...he gave me my mud flaps and handle for free, including the labor, and increased my trade-in value! The deal went smooth. Freddy even threw in a sliding cover for the back to hide my stuff! I am so pleased with Hello Subaru Valencia, Freddy and of course Jayson, that they are 'My Dealership' in my Subaru Starlink. My new 2024 Subaru Crosstrek Premium was such a joy to drive! She handles magnificently. No stress or strain on my ailing left hand or my disabled neck. I no longer need cushions to sit on to drive, the seat was so comfortable, I never even had to squirm around to find my spot again. Literally the only vehicle since I cracked the vertebrae in my neck 10+ years ago that I can honestly say that about! From Valencia to Bakersfield I got over 40 miles per gallon.

I gave a 4/5 rating because the CVT transmission is sealed without a deep stick. The dealer said you don't need to worry because it will last forever. When asked about the CVT warranty, he said it was 60K miles. I guess I will need to buy a new CVT if something happens after 60K miles.

Love my 2024 Crosstrek. The headlights in a rural area? HORRIBLE. That is as printable as I can be. The bottom half of the windshield has great illumination. The top half is a near blackout. If I drive on a street with a gully (down 150’ and up 150’), the headlights shine on the road as I drive downhill but I can’t see anything at the top of the gully. There could be a person or an animal but I won’t see them until I’m nearly on top of them. YOU CALL THAT SAFE? My headlights have been adjusted upward 18” already. Better, but the inability to see out of the windshield top to bottom is totally unacceptable. I have asked NTSBA to recall this car and redesign the headlight. I think the problem is the actual size/design of the headlight. It ranges from 3.25” to 2.75”tall. The bulb is in the narrowest part, set slightly deep and there is a top rim encasing the light. Check out other headlights. See what you think.

My father in law loved green, so we named our new Crosstrek after him. We love all the new tech, and that SOUND SYSTEM..WOW!!! Our only con... the Alpine Green being a new color, it hasn't made it to the dealerships, so a small nick on our front bumper under the liscense plate couldn't be touched up. That's a plastic area, so it will eventually get done. We've had a Subaru Outback and it was also awesome. My wife wanted a small car, because she can't handle our Ford F-150. She absolutely loves this car.

Love the car not the GPM

2024 Subaru Crosstrek Premium 4dr SUV AWD (2.0L 4cyl CVT)

The crosstrek is a perfect car for me. My favorite feature is the 8+” road clearance. It’s sporty looking, small enough to not be an imposing SUV. My 2019 _which I kept for my husband has 29-40 gpm. So far - under 300 miles- this averages 22,7-30. I have not moved residence do same roads/ area. The bigger screen was a little daunting at first but it quickly seemed like my 2019. Hope it gets better GPM as it breaks in so I can give it a 5 star.

Annoying

The speed control jumps by 5's when you press to increase or decrease, which is stupid and leaves you manually having to press the gas to 107 or whatever, then pressing set. Also, when you turn the volume knob, the whole screen shows a speaker with the increased number and during this time you can't press anything on the screen. Who thought this was good user interface? On the plus side, it seems to get decent gas mileage.

Handles well. Still too early to experience all the good features. Dislikes: Settings need to be more intuitive. I buy a tool to get a job done the way I intend to use the tool. I should not be required to spend excessive time learning how each funtion works.

Just purchased a 25 Limited and have been pleasantly surprised. Moving on from my Kia which dropped like a ride in value, this capable SUV does some things the Kia didn’t. I appreciate the sound dampening on the road and even on the highway. It just feels solid when the rubber hits the road. It’s really growing on me.

2025 Subaru Crosstrek Wilderness 4dr SUV AWD (2.5L 4cyl CVT)

Just bought a brand new 2025 Wilderness for my wife primarily, but having driven it we might be fighting for the keys! We wanted to beat the tariffs so bought the car quickly without time for a test drive as the dealer is a long way from our home. I have never thought about Subaru before and never even sat in one, but I saw so many amazing reviews I started to see how good a choice this would be. CR Reports rates Subaru as the top reliability of any brand. The top resale value not just in the sector but across every brand etc. Then I saw the Wilderness and I was hooked. Looks great, AWD, great ground clearance, feels very planted on the road, doesn't lean on corners, light but good steering and VERY comfortable seats and fantastic ride even on potholed, rural roads. I drive a Jaguar F Pace S - obviously the little Wilderness doesn't match it for speed - but it is pretty close when it comes to comfort which is amazing for a vehicle that cost less than CAN$40k vs $100+. And BTW people talk about it being a little slow - and the 2l engine probably is very slow, but the 2.5 is more than enough and feels pretty nippy in real world driving - and the Wilderness has some great low end torque. I would highly recommend one.

I have driven Honda Accords since I’m 30 (69 now.) I decided to try a Subaru. I love it. I bought the cross trek wilderness. It looks a little quirky with all the copper colored accents which makes me love it more. It is very user friendly and drives well. The only con I have is it is not a quiet ride. I like the storage the large tires and it’s overall look. The sound system is great.I do wish it had auto locking when you park and an automatic hatchback. But that’s no big thing. So far so great!!!

I've been a "Subaru" loyalist and booster since 1985. But I've never been as disappointed as I have been with this 2025 Subaru Cross trek. While I took a 2025 Cross Trek for a 30 minute test drive and there had been no hint of this vehicle "stumbling" and turning the engine off by itself while at a traffic light only to find it happening when I departed the dealership. As far as I am concerned, this would have been a "deal breaker" and shades of misleading/misrepresentation on the salesperson's part ... certainly unethical. "Orwellian 1984" ... ? While an environmental restriction apparently caused Subaru to impose this flaw; certainly other means could have used to meet the environmental standards required??? Gordo, Metro Vancouver, BC
