At 5K miles, still feels like a steal!

I've got about 5K miles on my VUE and it seems like the best deal for the money. Lots of space with gas mileage you can deal with. I was going to get the ION but with the VUE deal at the time, it was actually cheaper to get a VUE than a similarly equipped ION. I have NO complaints as of now. We'll see how the next few years go. Not to mention that Saturn makes buying a car so easy and hassle free that its SCARY! I would probably get something else at the upper levels (AWD, V6, Redline packages) but at the VUE FWD 5M level, you can't beat it.

Nun of the Above

Bought this 5-speed manual from my mechanic, who had taken it in a trade from "a little old lady who couldn't drive the stick any more because she couldn't depress the clutch." Didn't believe the story, but test-drove it, was happy generally, needed an inexpensive SUV, and got it. I like Saturns (and am pissed at GM for discontinuing them), so I was predisposed to favor this car. It had only 74k on the odometer, and the mechanic only wanted $3k to buy it, so why not? Now, about 15k miles later, I really, really like it. Oh... and I read through all the paperwork and receipts left in the glove box... guess what? It really WAS owned by a little old lady – an 83 year old nun, who was the original owner! I am on the Larger Person side (6'3", 225, long legs), and this little truck fits me perfectly. It's a tad noisy inside, but all Saturns of that era were. The controls take getting used to, especially the windows. Acceleration is nothing special. It has no bells and whistles, and the interior is "meh." But it's a workhorse and I couldn't beat the price if I tried.

2004 Saturn Vue

This is my first Saturn. Bought it 1 year ago when it had about 83,000 KM. It now has 90,000 KM. It has always had a noisy engine. Recently the check engine light came on and I brought it to the shop. A wheel bearing was shot - had to be replaced. Cost $300. Then it started making a strange noise and jerking when I drove. Back to the shop. The transmission is shot. They researched the vehicle's history and found out it has already had the transmission replaced at 80,000 KM, and this will be its second transmission replacement. It was going to cost $6,000 for a new transmission, luckily the dealership agreed to pay for it, even though we had no extended warranty on the Vue.

American cheapness.

A cheap American car made of cheap plastics. Makes a ton of noise when you drive it. No finess to the suspension at all. The gear box is jerky. But none the less it is a reliable car and it is all because of the 2.2 cylinder V4 HONDA engine in the car. That's right. These GM cars came stock from the Tennessee factory with HONDA engines. A little misleading on GM's part. The car also gets good gas mileage because it is light but because it is so light you get tossed around like a sail in the wind if you are on the highway. The seats also fold down so you get a lot of cargo room if you ever need it.

Had brand new vue for one week in shop for four problems .I Had up to 1500 miles to trade out for another brand new vue. Dealer was very nice about this problem. Secound brand new vue I had for three days and its been in shop already for empty clutch fluid. Poor craftsmanship would not recommend this vehicle.
