Used 2004 Saturn VUE Base Consumer Reviews
Best One Out There
04 FWD V6, We wanted something more reliable than our "ol' sludger", Toyota Sienna. We stumbled upon the 04 VUE and really liked it. Plenty of space for a "small" SUV--this looks much more like a mid-size SUV, extremely quick with the Honda 3.5L V6 engine. The redesigned dash is much more appealing and doesn't look like the old S-Series any longer. Plenty of leg room! Can't be beat for a $23K price tag, $25K with leater, moonroof, power seats and MP3 player. The Higlander was too much money and the Escape costs too much to fix the brakes (read other posts here at Edmunds). Good gas milage for a big powerful V6, 25MPG.
Outstanding!
With the 250hp V-6 Honda engine and transmission, this is an outstanding vehicle. I didn't want a huge gas-gussling SUV and this fit the bill. Although it's still new [less than 2000 miles], I've already come to appreciate many of it's features. Towing capacity to tow my sailboat, dent-proof side panels, and a smooth, quiet, powerful engine makes this a real value in a crowded market. Get it.. you'll love it!

2004 VUE REDLINE: LONG TERM
I bought this car off the showroom floor in 2004. I commuted with it for 5 years in San Francisco, CA. traffic. I drove it across country in 2009, going up to Seattle, all the way up in the mountains of Washington, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming and so on across the USA. It currently has 119,000 miles on it, and the only thing that has ever gone wrong with it is the pull cable for the hood release, and the light cluster panel above the driver needed a new switch. This is a reliable, fun to drive car with plenty of room, great performance, versatility and excellent fuel economy. On the cross country trip, fully loaded, with a pod carrier on top of the car, I got an overall 24 miles a gallon.
yes...
maybe I got lucky. 200,000 miles with little to no repair above expected. cosmetically, it blows. poor drainage design. lots of moisture inside. noisy. however, solid vehicle. good return on investment. engine solid and it gets you to work. 15 years and counting.

Saturn Vue Arrives
The 2004 Saturn Vue is not to be missed! There is quite a difference between the 4 cylinder and 6 cylinder engines. The 6 cylinder is an entirely different car! With the 250 horsepower, you feel that you can go anywhere and do anything. The ride is smooth, quiet and enjoyable. Tune-ups are not required for 100,000 miles and the warranty is bumper to bumper. There are no tricks or gimmicks with Saturn and I absolutely love my VUE!
