Used 1995 Saturn S-Series Sedan Consumer Reviews
Not bad for a first car
I'm a high school student right now, and got a 95 SL2 last year. Not a bad car for a student, it handled the Texas summer pretty well, the only down side was that I had to change its alternator after a few month (around 81K). Seems like saturn cars have a tendency to have bad alternators. And the oil consumption is pretty high compared to other cars.
Jimmy's SL2
I have owned my Saturn for about 2 years now. I bought it for about $3,000 with 98,000 on it. I have 121,000 miles on it now, and it is still running great!! The only work I have done on it was front wheel bearings that were grinding at about 105,000. Which is normal maintenance. The interior is laid out very nice, and it's easy to use. I have hardly any options on my SL2, but still love driving it. I installed an aftermarket alpine CD player to replace the base AM/FM radio that it came with. Sounds great!! Saturn was doing a great job with their cars back then, and I hear the same about their quality now!! Keep up the good work!
Excellent Commuter Car
Bought my 1995 Saturn 2 years ago when, as a result of a divorce, my commute became 75 miles each way. The car had 83000 miles when I bought it, now has 146000. All I have out into it was a new Battery and tires. Runs great and very good gas mileage...hope to put another 70000 miles on it!
SL2 bought new
Not a flashy car, but steady and reliable. Has had some transmission and other smaller problems but the dealer has always been generous about paying for repairs or splitting the cost, even after my warranty expired. It's a nice drive even for long distance, although for larger/taller folks visibility and comfort may be an issue.
Lemons come in all colors.
I bought the vehicle used. The dealer called it a "certified used car". The first 3 weeks I had it, it burned all the oil it had and the enginge started knocking. It took all my time and energy for 8 weeks to convince the dealer it was under warrenty. They gave it a "ring job". That was at 50,000 mi. Then at 100,000 mi, The engine lost compression and had to have a head gasket replaced. The drivers side window leaks, the dashboard rattles and the interior trim falling off the doors. The engine still consumes oil at an alarming rate, 1.5 quarts per 3,000 mi. This car is not in it for the long haul.
