Ol' Reliable
After 125,000 miles this car keeps on tickin' - This car is an excellent commute work-horse. It's nothing fancy, but it keeps doing the job.
It was okay for my first car
I bought the car used with 111K on it. Was fine at first.Around 120K the motor block broke ( a so-called "rare" problem)leaving my altenator dangling, thanks to a ingenious mechanic I was able to drive the deamed "finished and undriveable" car again. The trannie was also going, the reverse was about to go and shifting was pretty jerky for an automatic. All this aside I loved my little saturn it did what I needed and I would have driven it till it died had it not been totaled.
Quality Car!!!!
Very Satisfied with the Quality and Performance of this Car! I only wish Saturn made a Mini-Van to haul my kids around in!!!!
Great old car
I got my 1993 Saturn SL1 3 years ago when I was 16. The car had 188,000 miles on it. And it ran great. It got upwards of 32 MPG highway. Know my car has almost 229,000 mile and still runs great. And even know that I live in the city I get 25 MPG (city mileage of course). so overall a great start out car. Very reliable and fun to drive
130,xxx With More to Come
I bought my SL1 with 82,000 miles on it hoping it would get me through a couple lean years before I could afford another car. Now, 4 years later, at 130,000 miles I have passed it to my son who is a poor college student. He loves it (and I like the low insurance rates and I bought another used SL1 with 36,000 miles.) For mechanical reliability, I'd recommend the SOHC engine.
