I'm currently driving my second SL2, yes the car has givin me every problem that could go wrong but its probably the most fun to drive. Something goes wrong I can't wait for it to be fixed no matter the cost. I'm just about to hit 117 miles and have replaced Engine and everything that attatches to it and tranny in the past couple months. But that also comes with my racing modifications and all the street racing I do. You push the gas and the car responds easy as that. But just like any other car you run her hard she's sure to need fixed over time. Just ask any true racer.

Slightly Sub-Par

I've had this car (an SL1 with AUTO) for about 10 years now(Purchased new in 93) with about 93,000 miles and it has been quite reliable so far. It's engine is incredibly underpowered & loud. If you're like me and like to go from 0-60 in 15 seconds (That's about all this baby can manage) then you will probably get about 22 miles to the gallon which is about what I get. The transmission is very rough giving me a large jolt between high rpm shifts. Brakes are decent with a good balance of feel and performance. If you want a reliable car, this is a sure bet but if you also want a car that's quick, smart, and fun to drive, put your money elsewhere

This car's alternator went out at 36,000 miles after the warranty was up. It went out again in 2000. The gears shift badly. Reverse gear is terrible. It gets awful gas mileage around town about 22mpg.

Bought this car a few days into my first REAL job out of college. This baby has put up with my heavy foot and poor judgement while driving in the rain. I have run it off the road and done serious damage twice. Damage to the car and not me! It was close to totalled in the last one 7 years ago but it runs better than ever today!!! The exterior is perfect. It looks GREAT! This has to be the best starter car ever. I have taken 4 trips to Texas from NYC and this baby is so good on gas!! 30+mpg I will definately do Saturn again if this one ever wears out...
