The car is first in its class in terms of options. You can't find a Civic with ABS on the basic model. The Delta Platform is superb, as is the Ecotec 2.2. The manual is fast and the auto is peppy, especially in its "I" mode, which equates to an overdrive mode. The center IP seems seems totally natural. Cars SHOULD be made this way. Overall, the handling, accelleration, and ride wquality is better than any sedan that I have ever owned. Frankly, I feel that there is no better car for a 20-something that wants reliable transportation that looks good. And the price is just right. You can get a good ION 2 for little more than $200 per month with a small down payment.

Saturn got it right with Ion

It's sportier than the S-series in every way. Fun to drive, more power, responsive and is the direction Saturn has needed to go for some time. The service is legendary and you can expect that to continue. The cars have in the past been a bit noisy with less than striking styling, but that has changed for the better. The Ion is well-built and stylish; add the superb service and we just might see Saturn finally achieving its goal of competing well with the imports. All told, I love this car. Its tight, exciting styling, added power, vastly improved ride and turn radius are a huge boost to a car company that has always aimed to please. This time, they hit the bullseye!

when we bought the vehicle, it had to go back into the shop for: 4 new windows (due to the glass was scratched by the window tracks), defects in paint, interior dash was rattling, brakes were wobbleing (due to the rotors and brakes were out of surface tolerence), steering was shaky when driving at high speed. These problems were due because of the factory.

Great, Modern Car

The ION is an excellent example of a modern ecomomy car. It has lots of power for a four-banger, the interior is surprisingly roomy, there are plenty of nice options, and everything seems to be of good quality. When driving it, you'd think you were driving a small V6, not a four. With the DOHC engine and 16-valves, along with more than enough horsepower, my ION gets off stoplights quicker than most of my friends' V6 equipped cars. With the independent suspension, it rides and corners nice. Overall rating-9.
